Central Park -- Nueva York - Strawberry Fields-John Lennon -
In addition to being the main lung of Manhattan, this park is one of the favorite places for New Yorkers to walk, sunbathe or play sports. Central Park is a public urban park located in the metropolitan district of Manhattan, in the city of New York, United States. The park has a rectangular shape and approximate dimensions of 4000 x 800 m, being larger than two of the smallest nations in the world; It is almost twice as big as Monaco and almost eight times as big as Vatican City. In the 340 hectares that Central Park occupies are meadows, artificial lakes, waterfalls, bridges, several arches and areas that look like an authentic forest. Within the park itself is the Central Park Zoo and other attractions.
Strawberry Fields is the name given to the central area of Central Park, in memory of John Lennon, who was murdered in the vicinity of the park, The name of the memorial refers to one of the Beatles' most famous songs, Strawberry Fields Forever, which was published in 1967, and which deals with the nostalgia of his early years in Liverpool. It is an elevated area of one hectare of land, in front of the Dakota Apartments, where Lennon was killed on December 8, 1980. In this apartment building is where the famous artist lived, and the specific place chosen to install the monument was a corner in his day very frequented by John Lennon himself .. Five years later, his widow, Yoko Ono, held a ceremony on his behalf with the assistance of international diplomats. In the center of the mosaic the word Imagine is written, which reminds us of Lennon's most charismatic song. For this, a team of designers and professional artists of the mosaic of Naples was commissioned to create a work of marble tiles that would spread a message of hope for a world without wars or conflicts. NEW YORK CITY | cinematic travel video and sightseeing trip of NYC
Our cinematic travel video of our New York City (NYC) trip.
We really enjoyed climbing the steep spiral staircase to the crown of the Statue of Liberty. The entire Liberty Island was a great experience. We also caught the live Broadway show Finding Neverland, which was a genuine delight. The observatory at One World Trade Center gave us breathtaking views of Manhattan and beyond. In Central Park, our favorite locations included the Mall, Strawberry Fields (John Lennon Memorial), the Conservatory Garden, and Belvedere Castle.

The local bakeries are awesome! Take the metro subway around Manhattan to avoid the traffic and general craziness on the streets. We stumbled upon a free outdoor concert at Bryant Park, which also has a carousel and fresh Belgian wafel vendor. We'd also highly recommend a sunset harbor dinner cruise on Spirit Cruises, and dinner at ONE Dine at the One World Observatory.
Footage includes Bryant Park, Lower Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Corner Bagel Shop, Macy's Department Store, Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, Imagine: the John Lennon Memorial, the Hudson River from One World Trade Center, the Empire State Building, geese, squirrels, a horse-drawn carriage, bubble making, The Immigrants monument in Battery Park, Chinese erhu player, The American Immigrant Wall of Honor at Ellis Island, Times Square, Yankee Stadium, and the 9/11 Memorial.

Cycling Through Central Park In New York
Join me as I hire a bike and cycle through the stunning Central Park in New York City. Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States, with 40 million visitors in 2013, and one of the most filmed locations in the world. The park itself covers an area of 843 acres making it the fifth largest park in New York City.
In this video I cycle over 6 miles through the park along with stopping off at some of famous locations along the way. This includes the John Lennon Memorial in Strawberry Fields and the incredible Alice In Wonderland statue.
As mentioned in the video, here's a link to the bike rental shop I used just a short 5 minute walk away from Central Park -

Our Trip to New York City, October 17-21, 2019. #NewYorkCity #traveltonewyorkcity
Four friends went to New York City on October 17-21, 2019 just for fun.
We stayed in hotel Yotel in Midtown Manhattan, just three blocks from Times Square.
What we visited:
Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is a 102-story Art Deco skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan. It was designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon and completed in 1931. The building has a roof height of 1,250 feet and stands a total of 1,454 feet tall, including its antenna. Observation decks on the 86th and 102nd floors provide unforgettable 360° views of New York City and beyond.
Times Square
Times Square, the Crossroads of the World, is a major commercial intersection, tourist destination, entertainment center and neighborhood in the Midtown Manhattan section of NYC at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. It stretches from West 42nd to West 47th Streets.
Strawberry Fields in Central Park
Strawberry Fields is a 2.5-acre landscaped section in New York City's Central Park, designed by the landscape architect Bruce Kelly, that is dedicated to the memory of former Beatles member John Lennon. It is named after the Beatles' song Strawberry Fields Forever, written by John Lennon.
Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York City, colloquially the Met, is the largest art museum in the United States. When The Met was founded in 1870, it owned not a single work of art. Now The Met presents over 5,000 years of art from around the world for everyone to experience and enjoy.
Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
The Statue of Liberty is a world-famous symbol of freedom, given in 1886 by France to the United States in celebration of friendship. Nearby Ellis Island was the first stop for millions of immigrants to the U.S. in the late 19th and early 20th centuries - period of massive immigration to the United States.
9/11 Memorial
The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a memorial and museum in NYC commemorating the September 11, 2001 attacks, which killed 2,977 people, and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six. Opened to public on May 21, 2014.
The High Line
The High Line is a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It is a 1.45-mile-long. Saved from demolition by neighborhood residents and the City of New York, the High Line opened in 2009 as a hybrid public space where visitors experience nature, art, and design.
Greenwich Village
The epicenter of the city's 1960s counterculture movement, the tree-lined streets of Greenwich Village are now a hub of popular cafes, bars and restaurants.

New York City Memorial Day Weekend 2013
This video and collection of still photos is a personal diary of an amazing weekend in New York City Memorial Day Weekend 2013. The video will show you the best New York City has to offer with a three day visit condensed to 30 minutes. We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria and used the Lexington Line to springboard north to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, south to The Battery and many stops in between. The highlight of the weekend was to see the play Lucky Guy starring Tom Hanks. To fill in the remaining time we visited Central Park, Times Square, The Theater District, Strawberry Fields, The Frick Collection, Wall Street, New York Stock Exchange, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Court District, City Hall Park, The Dakota, Little Italy, Chinatown, SOHO, Federal Hall National Memorial, Bowling Green, Surrogates Court, New York Stock Exchange, The Lik Gallery, from afar we saw the Brooklyn Bidge, The Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and last but not least the 9/11 Memorial. This is an amazing space that gave me the goose bumps when I first looked into the South Pool with its 30 foot waterfalls and black stone void at the center. The visit will bring you back to the days of the attack, and compel you to once again pray for those that died pilots, passengers, office workers, police officers, firemen and the first responders. The solemn mood was broken for us while at the North Pool, a sudden wind developed and caused the water to curl up and out of the pool in a ten foot wave and got many of us wet. The comic relief this brought, gave a short break in the seriousness of the visit, and brought smiles and laughs, that almost felt guilty, but perhaps was a sign that life continues despite our tragedies. The new 1 World Trade Center at 1776 feet tall can be seen from most neighborhoods in New York City. I want to thank the musicians in Chinatown playing both traditional Chinese and classical music. Chinatown and Little Italy must be on your list of places to visit when in New York. The basic tour and locations can be found on the following link

New York, New York - The Dakota Building HD (2012)
New York, New York - The Dakota
The Dakota, constructed from October 25, 1880 to October 27, 1884, is a co-op apartment building located on the northwest corner of 72nd Street and Central Park West in the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City, at 1 West 72nd Street, New York, NY 10023. The building is widely known as the location of the murder of musician John Lennon.
The architectural firm of Henry Janeway Hardenbergh was commissioned to create the design for Edward Clark, head of the Singer Sewing Machine Company. The firm also designed the Plaza Hotel.
The building's high gables and deep roofs with a profusion of dormers, terracotta spandrels and panels, niches, balconies, and balustrades give it a North German Renaissance character, an echo of a Hanseatic townhall. Nevertheless, its layout and floor plan betray a strong influence of French architectural trends in housing design that had become known in New York in the 1870s.
According to often repeated stories, the Dakota was so named because at the time it was built, the Upper West Side of Manhattan was sparsely inhabited and considered as remote as the Dakota Territory. However, the earliest recorded appearance of this account is in a 1933 newspaper story. It is more likely that the building was named The Dakota because of Clark's fondness for the names of the new western states and territories. High above the 72nd Street entrance, the figure of a Dakota Indian keeps watch. The Dakota was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976.

SUMMARY
=======
Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, was assassinated by well-known stage actor John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865, while attending the play Our American Cousin at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C.
Shot in the head as he watched the play, Lincoln died the following day at 7:22 a.m., in the Petersen House opposite the theater. He was the first American president to be assassinated, and Lincoln's funeral and burial marked an extended period of national mourning.
Occurring near the end of the American Civil War, the assassination was part of a larger conspiracy intended by Booth to revive the Confederate cause by eliminating the three most important officials of the United States government.
Conspirators Lewis Powell and David Herold were assigned to kill Secretary of State William H. Seward, and George Atzerodt was tasked with killing Vice President Andrew Johnson.
Beyond Lincoln's death the plot failed: Seward was only wounded and Johnson's would-be attacker lost his nerve. After a dramatic initial escape, Booth was killed at the climax of a 12-day manhunt. Powell, Herold, Atzerodt and Mary Surratt were later hanged for their roles in the conspiracy.

John Lennon rose to worldwide fame as one of the founding members of The Beatles, the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music. Along with fellow Beatle Paul McCartney, he formed the most successful songwriting partnerships of the 20th century. John Lennon embarked on a solo career after his work with The Beatles that produced the critically acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic songs such as Give Peace a Chance and Imagine. Lennon disengaged himself from the music business in 1975 to devote time to his family, but re-emerged in 1980 with a new album, Double Fantasy. He was murdered three weeks after its release. As of 2010, Lennon's solo album sales in the United States alone exceed 14 million units, and as writer, co-writer or performer, he is responsible for 25 number-one singles on the US Hot 100 chart. He was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. During the studio years of The Beatles, they produced what critics consider some of their finest material including the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), widely regarded as a masterpiece. They are the best-selling band in the history of popular music, and over five decades after their break-up, their recordings are still in demand. They have had more number one albums on the UK charts and have held the top spot longer than any other musical act. According to the RIAA, they have sold more albums in the United States than any other artist. The Beatles were placed at number one on Billboard magazine's fiftieth-anniversary list of all-time top Hot 100 artists in 2008. They have received 7 Grammy Awards from the American National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and 15 Ivor Novello Awards from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
