Year 2 Episode 52; RV'ing South Dakota - Sturgis Motorcycle Museum
We took a day trip over to Sturgis, home of the famous Black Hills Motorcycle Rally. The town was a lot of fun to explore, and we spent some time at the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum, which had so many different kinds of motorcycles, from the earliest models to the present. Such a great find!

Sturgis and Reva Gap
RV Travel in South Dakota Part 3
Shane Ramsey
Travel VLOG S1E2
This is Shane Ramsey and I’m back with another episode. I’m on my way to Sturgis, South Dakota. Originally named Scooptown, but later renamed in honor of the Civil War Union General Samuel D. Sturgis. Located in the Black Hills, This small town usually has a population of about 7,000 but swells to over a half a million in August during its world-famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. This place is known for its biker’s bars, beers, and good times, which sounds cool, but I’m just driving through.
I’m not too into souvenir shopping, but this downtown looks like it has a lot of options. If I had time I’d stop by Loud American Roadhouse or The Knuckle and have a “Knuckle Sandwich” for lunch, maybe next time.
I will check out the nearby National Historic Landmark, Bear Butte, or “Mato Paha” in Lakota. This site is sacred to the Lakota, Cheyenne, and other plains tribes. Red Cloud, Crazy Horse, and Sitting Bull used to spend time here and it’s rich in history. I hear there is a nice, less than 2-mile, hike with amazing scenery.
Speaking of hiking, the Centennial Trail is close-by. This 111-mile trail takes hikers over grasslands, prairies, through the Black Hills, and all the way down rolling hills of Wind Cave National Park. Now that would be a hiking and camping adventure!
I would also like to see Old Fort Meade Museum, which served as a US Cavalry Post for the United States Army, during the Great Western Expansion. It was established in 1878 and outlived most military frontier posts until 1944. This place is rich in history too.
I should mention the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame. It would be really cool to see their collection of vintage motorcycles. Plus there is Buffalo Chip Campground that I will likely stay at next time I come.
Like I said, I was just driving through… and now I’m on my way to find some dispersed camping in Custer National Forest near Reva Gap. I hear the terrain is beautiful there, white buttes, grassy hills, all surrounded by a forest of pine trees. If you can’t tell, I’m sorta in the mode of spending time with myself and getting into balance with nature. That should give me some time tonight to practice night photography and, maybe even, some light painting. For now, I might as well just enjoy this peaceful drive. Sometimes I wish I could share.

Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2015 | 262.989.8286 | Custom Motorcycles for Sale Sturgis SD | End of Days - Show Winner $15,470.00 O.B.O. - Over 30 Awards won ... Many 1st Places... One of a Kind Custom Badass Bike!!
Well let's see where do I start. Well the first motorcycle ever Road was a Suzuki automatic. That Bike was a lot of fun for a while, and for that I moved up to a bike with gears. If I remember correctly my first bike was a Honda Nighthawk. I had the play for about six months or five, then I traded that like it on the 2005 Honda VTX 1300. That what I bought right off the showroom floor to single owner I'm on it ever since day one probably about three or four months into me owning this bike, A few my friends and I were talking and considering it was a neat looking bike because it was candy apple red then maybe I should get a paint job in Charlotte just to see what happens. I got in touch with some people that knew that on motorcycles talk to them find out who I can have airbrush my my motorcycle they have it look real neat give it a little bit of twang. Then we all came up with the same name and for my opinion he is probably by the third best airbrush are in the state of Wisconsin. What he can do with an airbrush and paint is just astronomically fabulous. The paint job he put on this motorcycle has won several first prize trophies has one I best paint it's one best of show and in Chicago in nationals it was first place in his class two years in a row. After I got the bike back from the painter I I knew that I could be riding his bike every day so I talked some friends of mine that were in the car club and asked if I could tag along and see if I could show my bike in one of their shows the first place so I went to was called the drive-through show it was a Kakonia,Wisconsin and that was one of the first trophies I won. Onto Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2015 and Custom Motorcycles for sale Sturgis South Dakota.
At that show I took second place, but after that I was hooked I used to find shows searched for shows using the Internet, I went to car places that build sports cars and show cars and find out where they had shows so I can get it on some shows I was pretty much hooked on a showing my motorcycle that's the only thing I wanted to do. ... and go to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally every year including 2015 and look at custom motorcycles for sale in Sturgis SD
After that show in Wisconsin I knew right then and there in order to be competitive and I would have to start upgrading some of the parts of my motorcycle, not just the paint, we had to dump some real money into it. So I said that with my wife explained to her what I wanted to do explain to her what I wanted the bike to look like when it was finished. My wife and told me that if that's what I wanted to do in the way I wanted to do it that she would back me 100%. And now is where the fun began I ordered three sets of engine lights I ordered the headpiece that is on the head light, after the paint job I pretty much knew what the theme of the motorcycle is going to be so I ordered flame handgrips, flame foot pegs, flame rear pegs, flame footboards, and I ordered a set of flame mirrors. All that stuff went well for about a year maybe a year and a half then I decided that I needed to upgrade some more and then I had ordered a mustang seat and the HyperCharger with a etched skull I have the primary cover with a etched skull, I also upgraded the exhaust by installing a set of 2hard coat Double Dstraight pipes, along with a new jet kit ,I picked up a new set of mirrors with the bonehand in those mirrors, those mirrors are actually the second set out of the forger the first set the gentleman kept for himself and I got the second set. The hands that hold the mirrors he told me, he used wife's hands as a model for the mirrors. I showed it like there for a while and then I felt I needed another upgrade. So what I did was I took the triple tree off, took it it had a chromed. Brought it back had to cover the triple tree engraved. (Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2015 -
Custom Motorcycles for sale Sturgis South Dakota SD )
I got a hold of this company called Dakota digital, Dakota digital may digital speedometers the one I seen is the one I picked up and had installed on the motorcycle which adds a time not a lot of people had so it was a really good show peace. That's but I'm alone turned a lot of judges heads. The nice thing about the speedometer is that it'll take 0 to 60 speed, quarter-mile time, highest rpm rev, it also has two tripmeters and then on the other side you got o'clock, voltmeter,RPM in digital or bar form. Then eventually on to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2015 and

Thank You for the Wonderful Collection of Motorcycle Culture!
The National Motorcycle Museum was founded in 1989 by people who love motorcycling and it thrives today because of their sound plan. Engineers, racers, bike builders, tuners and others as far back as the late 1800′s built the groundwork for what motorcycling has become. The National Motorcycle Museum’s goal is to present their passion, and ours, through fine interpretive exhibitions built around a fine collection of machines and historical objects from around the world. © 2013 National Motorcycle Museum.

A Collection Of Memories Out On The Open Road
I've been riding since I was eight, and in 34 years, I've never experienced a better journey. The places I've seen, the people I've met, will always hold a special place in my heart!
Live Your Truth! Be True to You!!

Listening to just a few minutes of a Missy Covill song reveals that the Iron Cowgirl is a determined and serious rock artist with a distinctive ability to tell stories through her music. Covill's powerful, gritty and edgy vocals naturally match her inspiring lyrics and tunes, as her truth comes from her life experience and uncovers her personal emotion that otherwise would only be found deep within. Her first album Heart of Steel was released this year.
The Michigan native, an only child of a single mom, Missy Covill developed her intense drive and determination early on. As a young girl she wrote lyrics and made cassette player recordings. The first instrument Missy learned to play was a wash tub bass, made with a washtub, broom stick, and cotton string. She grew up camping with her horses and spent many nights around a campfire playing old country music with other musicians who played everything from spoons to a washboard. Eventually, she became the mother of three. Now in the early part of her midlife, after being a mig-welder for 20 years, she is absolutely chasing her dreams: writing, performing and recording music that mirrors her life.
Missy Covill is honored and humbled to have accepted awards from St. Jude Childrens hospital, MDA, WFLAG and many other charities, for outstanding work and donating proceeds from shows, as well as her time and efforts to make a difference. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, AMA, Motor Maid, Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame, and HOG member, she has logged over 150,000 miles on two wheels and shares her stories of survival through her music and encouraging others to always chase their dreams and never give up.
Music and motorcycles are the things that make Missy Covill feel at home while performing. After overcoming cancer, and matters of the heart, she packed up everything she could fit onto her new Harley-Davidson (Mr. Bones) along with her guitar, and hit the road with only $250 in cash and a tent. Her 15,000 mile, ten-week journey chronicled in her song Open Road, took her around the coast of Michigan, down to the Gulf of Mexico, back up through the Smoky Mountains, and ultimately to Sturgis, South Dakota which hosts the largest annual motorcycle event in the world.
Less than five years ago, Iron Cowgirl band came together and today performs her signature mix of country, rock, and blues internationally. The dedicated band members compliment the raw emotion of her lyrics, and Missy has been honored as a Showcase Artist for four consecutive years at the world's largest music and motorcycling event, the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. She has shared the stage with many national acts including The Doobie Brothers, The Charlie Brechtel Band and The Fryed Brothers Band. Missy has also opened for David Allen Coe and Confederate Railroad.
It's the freedom of the open road, and the people I surrounded myself with, at the lowest point in my life, that got me through, says Covill, Those people gave me hope when I had none, love when I needed some, and memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
