Meiji-mura (博物館明治村 Hakubutsukan Meiji-mura, Meiji Village Museum) is an open-air architectural museum/theme park in Inuyama, near Nagoya in Aichi prefecture, Japan.
The museum preserves historic buildings from Japan's Meiji (1867–1912), Taisho (1912–1926), and early Shōwa (1926–1989) periods.
The most noteworthy building there is the reconstructed main entrance and lobby of Frank Lloyd Wright's landmark Imperial Hotel, which originally stood in Tokyo from 1923 to 1967, when the main structure was demolished to make way for a new, larger version of the hotel.

Akihabara
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Akihabara (Japanese: 秋葉原), also known as Akihabara Electric Town (Japanese: 秋葉原電気街 Hepburn: Akihabara Denki Gai), is a district of Tokyo, Japan. It is located less than five minutes by rail from Tokyo Station. Its name is frequently shortened to Akiba (アキバ) in Japan. While there is an official locality named Akibahara, which is also 秋葉原 in kanji, nearby (as part of Taitō-ku), the area known to most people as Akihabara (including the railway station of the same name) also include Soto-Kanda, a part of Chiyoda-ku.
Akihabara is a major shopping area for electronic, computer, anime, games and otaku goods, including new and used items. New items are mostly to be found on the main street, Chūōdōri, with many kinds of used items found in the back streets of Soto Kanda 3-chōme. New parts for PC-building are readily available from a variety of stores. Tools, electrical parts, wires, microsized cameras and similar items are found in the cramped passageways of Soto Kanda 1-chōme (near the station). Foreign tourists tend to visit the big name shops like Laox or other speciality shops near the station, though there is more variety and lower prices at locales a little further away. Akihabara gained some fame through being home to one of the first stores devoted to personal robots and robotics.
The area was just out of Sujikai-gomon city gate (present Mansei bridge) which was one of the city gates (Mitsuke) of old Edo (Tokyo). It was the gateway from inner Edo to northern and northwestern Japan and Kan'ei-ji temple in Ueno. Many dealers, craftsmen and relatively lower class samurai lived there.

1990 - 1935年の両国ホテル Old 1935 Ryogoku Hotel - Haunted in 1990 - 900928
I was walking around recording images & sounds of the area along the river and soon after crossing over a bridge and arriving in the Ryogoku Station area, I noticed unusual-looking doors in an old building. Taking a closer look, I peered through the glass doors and saw what looked like a hotel front desk, although there was no one in sight and it was clearly not being used as a hotel as I stood there, in September 1990. I walked in (not something I would do now, in the security-conscious 21st century, but at the time, it wasn't so outrageous), and after looking around the halls a little, and seeing what I thought were vacant apartment rooms on the top floor, I ran into a tenant who told me that the hotel was built in 1935, and was a luxury hotel at the time, with nice views of the river (now obscured by the expressway). He went on to explain that the building had been requisitioned by the US military following the end of WW-II and used as a residence for US military women. It used to have high-ceilinged hallways, but fake ceilings had been put in. There were plans to tear the building down, but the last ten (or so) tenants were resisting. Apparently the building had been used in some old movies as well. He told me it was alright to take pictures in the halls, but to be careful of the second floor, as a few people lived there. That building is long gone now, and I'm not seeing info about it under old Ryogoku Hotel or Chiyoda Heights Building, so more research is in order.

アメ横で探し物があったので、湯島天神から不忍池を通り抜けて上野へと歩く。
冬枯れした蓮池のメランコリックな趣にかなり惹かれるものを感じました。
The Shinobazu Pond (不忍池 Shinobazu no Ike) is a pond within Ueno Park (a spacious public park located in the Ueno section of Taitō, Tokyo, Japan), and a historically prominent Shitamachi feature often appearing in history and works of art. The park occupies the site of the former Kan'ei-ji, a temple closely associated with the Tokugawa shoguns, who had built it to guard Edo Castle against the northeast, a direction believed to be unlucky by traditional geomancy. The temple was destroyed during the Boshin War. The pond, although modified many times and even once drained, is natural. (from Wikipedia)

Sugamo (巣鴨?) is a neighborhood in Toshima, Tokyo, Japan. Jizō-dōri (地蔵通り?), a shopping street for the older generation (the area is known as the Harajuku of the old ladies) is located here. It lies at the crossing point of the JR Yamanote railway line, and national road route Route 17.
