Live Wall of Sound Sessions - Úir
We at Scapegoat.tv and Wall of sound productions had an idea. To capture the live experience in its purest form, from some of these outstanding bands that are circulating in this powerhouse of our scene. We wanted to capture the raw energy of these bands and encapsulate what there live performance is really like, showcasing their music as it happened live on stage.
These are straight up live sessions *NO EDITS - NO OVERDUBS* recorded and shot all in ONE take, done in the venue, on that night. This has no trickery involved
With the both of our companies dedicated to showcasing these bands, we try and produce the best caliber of footage. We strive to make it feel like you are in the venue with a beer, feeling the atmosphere. Making this a fair representation of how good these bands are.
We have worked closely with several promoters and venues up and down the country to document not just get the up and coming scene but to show the steller international bands that are coming through the uk on a monthly basis.
NOW LETS GET ON WITH THE RIFFS
BAND
Úir
Were formed during 2015 in Edinburgh as a collaboration of Scottish and Cumbrian musicians. A raw, natural, atmospheric sound has materialised that draws on inspiration from various genres of music (past and present) brought into focus via black metal. Úir is taken from Ogham, where it is assigned the meaning: Earth, soil or clay.

Dylan Carlson
During the last quarter-century, Dylan Carlson has helped reshape the electric guitar’s possibilities multiple times. Carlson has always stood at the center of a colossal drone tide, with his creeping riffs and masterful control of distortion seeming to trace the outer reaches of infinity itself.
His records are landmarks and baselines.

Author & Punisher
In January 2004, Tristan Shone created Author & Punisher a one-man industrial doom metal but with a twist. Tristan makes all his own controllers and most of his instrumentation, This truely is a new sound, which is unapologetic, shockingly aggressive and unrestrained.
This has given a new lease of life to the industrial doom scene and has pushed Author and Punisher to the forefront.

Guardian's John Harris on Scottish Independence at the Yestival held in Summerhall
An interview with Guardian columnist John Harris following his lecture 'Independence and the English: Prospects for the Left' at the Yestival held at Summerhall on the 9th July. Far from despairing the prospect of the left in Scotland deserting the left in England John sees Scotland setting the agenda for a far more decentralised state, whether in or out of the UK.

All We Ever Wanted Was Everything by Luke Barnes/Middle Child (Roundabout @ Summerhall, Edinburgh)
Middle Child's All We Ever Wanted Was Everything opened at The Welly as part of Hull City of Culture 2017 and tours to Latitude Festival and to Paines Plough's Roundabout at Summerhall as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer.
Having caught the company's previous collaboration with writer Luke Barnes a couple of years ago, I travelled up to Hull to catch the play. Here's some of my thoughts and reflections in the form of a performance analysis of the show.
If you've enjoyed this video then please do check out the rest of my channel. I generally put out new videos every Tuesday and Friday discussing theatre and playwriting from the perspective of an aspirant and (some might say) emerging playwright, theatre maker and academic.

Bethan and Matthew share a dream: they want to end up together at the end of their lives. They have taken the chance element out of growing old together by planning the rest of their lives in great detail. But there’s a problem: they’ve lost the plan for day one.

Stuart Crout (aka Pockets) is a Musician, Director and Comedian based in Edinburgh. He has over 10 million views and 15 thousand subscribers on his Youtube channel youtube.com/crouts0. Stuart has been on Rude Tube, Britain’s Got Talent and was asked to do an advert for Doritos in Canada.
Pockets's biggest claim to fame is his cover of an 80s hair rock anthem on an instrument he invented himself. The Kazookeylele video of his performance is now sitting at a whopping 7 million views.
Just back from a residency playing with the United Komedy Ukulele Orchestra in Dollywood Tennessee, he is spending the next few months creating as much of everything as possible. Weekly Youtube video uploads and an album just to name a couple.
Pockets discovered the Ukulele in 2006 and in his own words “has never looked back!”
I tend to upload as often as I can, I am for videos once every week but sometimes life happens. This could be a vlog, a music video, sketch or just a random video.

Louder Is Not Always Clearer - Edinburgh BSL Flier
Access: All shows use creative captioning, English and BSL to make the show fully accessible for deaf and hearing audiences.
- Time: 14.30
- Duration: 65 mins
- Age Suitability: 12+
- Venue: Tech Cube 0
Meet Jonny: teacher, father and football fan. He’s an artist, a campaigner, and he’s deaf. He wishes he could sing and loves to dance, but he can’t hear the music unless the bass is turned right up. Jonny grew up in a hearing family, surrounded by fear of the stigma of disability. Louder Is Not Always Clearer tells Jonny’s moving, funny story of disconnection, difference and desperation to belong. This one-man show is a starkly honest portrayal of a man seemingly confident, outgoing and popular, who is inwardly vulnerable and, at times, isolated.

Edinburgh Showcase 2017: 'Real Magic' by Forced Entertainment
Forced Entertainment is a multi-award winning Sheffield-based theatre company founded in 1984. Touring and presenting ground-breaking and provocative performances across the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world, the group has sustained a unique collaborative practice for more than 30 years. Producing work that explores and often explodes the conventions of genre, narrative and theatre itself, the company draws influence not just from drama, but also from dance, performance art, music culture and popular forms such as cabaret and stand-up. The group operates at different scales, shifting from intimate two-performer works focused on text, to spectacular middle-scale productions.
Forced Entertainment’s new show 'Real Magic' creates a world of absurd disconnection, struggle and comical repetition. To the sound of looped applause and canned laughter, three performers take part in an impossible illusion – part mind-reading feat, part cabaret act, part chaotic game show – in which they endlessly revisit moments of defeat, hope and anticipation. Caught in a world of second-chances and second-guesses, variations and changes, distortions and transformations, 'Real Magic' takes the audience on a hallucinatory journey, creating a compelling performance about optimism, individual agency and the desire for change.
