BEST surf beach town, NAZARE, PORTUGAL (traveling to Lisbon from Nazaré)
Nazaré, Portugal is known for having some of the biggest waves in the world! In fact, a new world record was just hit at 95 ft high! To put it into a little perspective, that is about a 20 story building! And surfers all around the world come to this part of Portugal in November to March to surf these massive waves. Big wave competitions are held throughout the season, but you really need several weeks and flexibility to be lucky enough to see one of these huge waves. We saw a handful of about 20 ft waves, and consistently 15 ft waves, but alas, no 95 footers!
After a wonderful morning watching the waves, we took a bus to Lisbon and settled into our Airbnb. We will be in Lisbon for 2.5 days and can't wait to bring you with us!
Thanks for watching!

BOAT RIVER WAVE LISBON
A wave that is created by a boat deep inside Tagus River, in Portugal. For more content like this, follow @joaokopke on Instagram :)
TRIP TO PORTUGAL | Catch the wave (NAZARE, LISBOA, FARO, SIERRA DE LAS NIEVES)
OUR TRIP FROM ESTEPONA (SPAIN) TO NAZARE.
Nazaré is a popular surfing destination because of its very high breaking waves that form due to the presence of the underwater Nazaré Canyon.[8] As the canyon creates constructive interference between the incoming swell waves, it makes their heights much larger on this stretch of coast.
Due to the height of the waves, numerous surfing records have been set at Nazaré. In November 2011, surfer Garrett McNamara, who resided in Hawaii at that time, surfed a then record-breaking giant wave: 23.8 m (78 ft) from trough to crest, at Praia do Norte, Nazaré.[9] On November 8, 2017, Brazilian surfer Rodrigo Koxa broke the previous record by surfing a big wave of 24.4 m (80 ft); for this feat he won the Quiksilver XXL Biggest Wave prize and entered the Guinness World Record for the biggest wave ever surfed. Social media wrongly attributed a footage of German surfer Sebastian Steudtne surfing another big wave also in Nazaré to Koxa; both have made public statements in attempts to correct the original misinformation. In the meantime, Portuguese surfer Hugo Vau surfed a potentially 35 m (115 ft) high wave, known as the big mama, on 19 January 2018. This achievement yet to be validated.
The waves at this point can also be dangerous to those ashore. In August 2012, a rogue wave killed a 5 year old British girl and her grandfather walking along Salgado Beach.
Popular viewing points for surfing competitions have witnessed a great spike in visitors, such as the lighthouse, which increased from 80,000 visitors in 2015 to 174,000 in 2017.

Ep 16 | TRAVELING FROM LAGOS to SEVILLE via BUS// PORTUGAL + SPAIN
Today we spent the morning exploring the coastline of Lagos, relaxing on the beach and having a swim before returning our rental car and heading to the bus station. Today we are travelling to Seville, Spain! As trains don’t travel between Lagos and Seville we needed to catch the bus across into Spain.
Check out our Instagram @theadventureof.us
We stayed at the Algarve Surf Hostel in Lagos
We stayed at The Black Swan Hostel Seville
We rented our car from Europcar (we found it easier to walk down to the branch and book the car, as online is said they had no cars available)
We took the Alas bus from Lagos to Seville, booked online

Surfing the Lisbon trams - hitching a free ride.
During my recent trips to Lisbon in Portugal I have seen a lot of youngsters hitching a ride on the Lisbon trams by hanging on to the outside, very dangerous!, don't do this at home!, anyway here are some clips of the Lisbon youth in action.

TOP TRAVEL TIPS:
Google Map of all the destinations
Lisbon:
*Lisbon is full of things to do. I recommend staying near, Barro Alto and the Rossio Train Station (Used to get to Sintra). We stayed right inbetween and it was the perfect location.
*Go up the Santa Justa Lift! But, you do not have to wait in line to go up the lift. Just go to Restaurante Panorâmico em Lisboa, located just to the south side of the Carmo Archaeological Museum
Sintra:
*Tips on getting to Sintra: Go to the Rossio Train Station, and the train will take you straight to Sintra. Google Maps of the route:
*Website used for information about Sintra:
*Once in Sintra: we wanted to use the bus (Bus 43) to tour, but traffic was so bad, we just spent more to take a Tuk-Tuk ($5 per person per ride vs. $5 all day for the bus).
*Do not miss the Initiation Well in Quinta da Regaleira!
LAGOS:
*To get to Lagos: take the metro to the Sete Rios Stationi. Then the train takes about 3.5 hours to get to Tunes, where you will transfer. The next train's final stop is Lagos. Google Maps of the train route to get to Lagos:
*Train website in Portugal:
*Lagos is a very small town but one could easily spend 4 nights here.
*Hike along the path to take in the other beaches
*Make sure to do a kayak, paddleboard or boat tour to see the beaches from below
*If you're into Kayaking, do the Kayak trip. It will get you into many of the caves, but it is a lot of work, so be prepared!
