Return to Providence
Our friend Pyat, now fatter and more rugose than ever, returns to Providence, this time with a live report. There is Sullivan Ballou, Lovecraft, a mill, and a bridge of interminable length.
241 Years After Founding Rhode Island Militia, Colonel's Grave is Located for Memorial Day Honor
Joe Giammarco of North Providence and fellow members of the United Train of Artillery of Providence, which fought in the American Revolution, laid a wreath at the grave of Daniel Tillinghast, the unit's founder and first colonel. The grave was located in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, recently, allowing current members of the unit to honor Tillinghast's service on Memorial Day weekend 2013. So, yes, neighbors of Prospect Hill Cemetery, that was why you heard musket fire today.

12/31/12 DS Ride - TNF - Providence Cemetery
ancient little neck cemetery riverside rhode island
a pleasent stroll through this tiny burying ground on a hill within a modern cemetery. very serene, quiet, alot of historic figures here and a pilgrim or two. oldest official stone and burial is 1672 a green slate type foot stone(a small slate grave). when documenting all these historic cemeteries i often tend to get a little crazy. i might say things that dont make any sense, or may vent out. it may be disturbing or just may not make any sense. thats why i call these adventures vacations. my escape to my own reality where i may vent out, document, supernatureal hunt, history..and best of all i dont have to put a mask on and just be my own self if one may not like what i may say just hit the mute button.

Finding Lovecraft
I’ve known for a long time that H. P. Lovecraft’s grace was in Rhode Island, so why not visit his grave while in Rhode Island for my birthday weekend? So that’s what we did! Definitely a super surreal experience. One I won’t soon forget. Great weekend for sure!
Ballou Cemetery, Cumberland, Rhode Island
Located just off Elder Ballou Meetinghouse Rd, this cemetery is one of the creepiest we've ever encountered. According to the paranormal legends surrounding the site, a mysterious man in gray presides over the cemetery: perhaps a caretaker or a permanent resident. Although we did not see this undead spectre, the cemetery itself is well worth a visit for its four celled keep which is open for viewing and the pallid atmosphere hanging over the 18th century stones. Ballou Cemetery has a very well earned reputation as one of the creepiest graveyards in New England.

Writers at Rest (E1): H.P. Lovecraft
HOWARD PHILLIPS (“H.P.”) LOVECRAFT (1890-1937) is interred in Swan Point, a garden style cemetery in the author’s native city of Providence, Rhode Island. Swan Point’s 60 acres are resplendent with a variety of shade-giving trees and gorgeous monuments in all shapes, styles, and sizes—a peaceful contrast to Lovecraft’s fictional universe of horrors and grotesquerie. Lovecraft’s identification with the city of his birth is immortalized with the legend on his gravestone: I AM PROVIDENCE. Fans of Lovecraft who visit Providence should also take in the nearby Providence Athenaeum Library, which, among other attractions, houses a handsome bust of Lovecraft.
