Tahmoor Gorge: Bargo River from Mermaids Pool to Junction Pool
Seventy kilometres from Sydney's CBD is a hidden canyon where the Bargo River has carved a deep gorge through sandstone on its way to join the Nepean.
For generations, Tahmoor Gorge has been popular with locals in the know and bushwalkers wanting to experience its flora, fauna and spectacular scenery.
The canyon is a significant wildlife corridor. Some parts of this environment are under threat as housing developments are planned for land immediately above the gorge.
There is a campaign to protect Tahmoor Gorge and include it as part of a proposed Bargo Nepean National Park. Find out more on facebook:
