Thane the city of lakes - Talao Pali lake, Upvan lake and Kachrali lake
1. The Upvan lake is located near Gawand Baug, Shivai Nagar, Vasant Vihar and Vartak nagar. This is one of the recreational areas for people who live in Thane. It is one of the biggest lakes in Thane, surrounded by Yeoor Hills, and lies in the Pokhran. Upvan is One of the eco friendly lake of city.
2. Kachrali talao is a very beautiful lake right opposite to the Thane Municipal Coorporation(TMC) building. The lake is surrounded by a jogging track. Beautiful trees overshadow most of the track from the sunlight. There is a small island in the lake.
3. Talao Pali is approximately a 5-10 minutes walking distance from Thane station. Along with the awesome view of the lake, it also has boating and horse rides.

Kachrali Talao is a picturesque lake with a small 'one tree island' on it. This lake has a circumference of 500m. It attracts many people for its jogging tracks, children play area, exercise area. There is a temple of Lord Ganesh inside the lake premises. Once a slum area, major cleansing & beautification has transformed it to a jogger's paradise. The government has brought Ducks on the lake, these ducks can be seen in the lake specially on the one tree island.
Around the Kachrali lake, Head office of Thane Municipal Corporation, S.E.S. High School and Junior College, few temples and several food outlets are present.

Thane Masunda Lake HD
Talao Pali, Also known as the Masunda Lake this is one of the most famous landmark in Thane. The lake is surrounded by important historic places like Gadkari Rangayatan, St. John church, Kopineshwar temple and Jambli market. There is a Mahadev Dhyan Mandir at the centre of the lake and also a statue of Shivaji Maharaj near the lake.
This lake is very old - might have been created by meterorite - as there are several lakes in Thane, which is the sign of it.
Previously this lake was extending upto the Shiv Mandir on the East. In 1950s a new road was constructed by reducing the area of the lake to almost half its original size, to take care of traffic load. Several gardens, a vegetable market & a small ground - Shivaji Maidan were created in between the Temple & Lake
The lake has an island at the center, on which a Temple was built in ancient times. Today a beutiful temple stands in its place, illuminated with coloured lights. also Famous for boat rides and food stalls..this is a great place for hangout!!!
Masunda Talao also has a temple of Kopineshwar temple, which is situated on its banks, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is the oldest temple in Thane which was renovated in 1750 AD by Chimajji Appa.
