Talking OsaCan Kuidaore All-Inclusive Food Tour in Osaka
We were invited by Talking OsaCan to take their Kuidaore! All-inclusive food tour while we were in Osaka. Osaka is known to have some of the best food in Japan, so we were very excited to see what Talking Osaka had to show us.
Kuidaore means “Eat until you drop” which is what we did. Our first stop was for some authentic make your own Okonomiyake where they showed us three different Osaka versions of the egg dish. Next we went to a standing bar and had several different types of pork skewers, we were a bit hesitant to try some of the strange body parts on the menu so we stayed with pretty normal parts, except the neck.
Our third stop was a famous Kushikatsu restaurant where many celebrities have eaten. We tried so many different delicious fried skewers. My favorite was the cheese, it was so good and unexpected to have good cheese in Japan. The final stop was a surprise, we had some French/Japanese appetizers and we had one hour of unlimited drinks. Drinks included beer, wine, juice or whiskey on tap, pretty cool.
Thanks again Talking Osacan for such a fun food tour, we had an amazing time and had so much good food. Be sure to look them up next time you go to Osaka, it was our best experience in our three days in the city.

OSAKA, JAPAN 2016: Dotonbori, Namba, Shinsaibashi, Shinsekai.
if you want to feel the buzz and energy of Osaka, look no further; Dotonbori is the place to go, it's the essence of Osaka!
Dotonbori is a very colorful, popular and famous street which runs parallel to Dotonbori-gawa Canal in the downtown area of Namba, in the center of Osaka. Both sides of the canal are always busy day and night. The north side of the canal is called Soemon-cho, where there are many restaurants and bars. The south side of the canal, Dotonbori Street, is a home of ‘Kuidaore’ with various eateries where you will be amazed with the famous Osaka giant signs such as moving crab, puffer fish, dragon, etc. Dotonbori is the main destination for food travel in Osaka. Osaka regional cuisine that can be found along Dotonbori includes okonomiyaki (pan-fried batter cake), takoyaki (octopus dumplings), udon (a noodle dish), as well as regional sushi and other traditional Japanese foods.
There are several famous billboards and characters in Dotonbori. One is the well-known Glico billboard at the foot of the Hikkake-bashi bridge. The Glico billboard was first installed in 1935. Its design changes with the times and it is now in its 6th generation. Next is the billboard of the specialist crab restaurant Kani Doraku. It is a huge crab with slowly-moving mechanical legs located about a 30 second walk from the Glico billboard.
Osaka is nicknamed the city of Kuidaore. Kuidaore means to eat delicious foods until your stomach is full. So I recommend you walk around Dotonbori while eating crab and takoyaki.
The entire sides of buildings are decorated with neon lamps. The illuminated signboards and neon lamps reflect on the Dotonbori-gawa Canal at night, making Dotonbori even merrier.

Backyard Staycation ???? | Building a Wooden Deck and Pergola with Home RenoVision DIY
In this video, we transform my parents' backyard into a beautiful staycation paradise by building a wooden deck and pergola!
This home renovation project came together after we received an email from Jeff & Michelle from Home RenoVision DIY, who had watched some of our videos and spotted our concrete slab of a deck in the background.
Since the Home RenoVision DIY channel is all about teaching people how to tackle home renovation projects, they offered to come over to my parents' house and build a deck and pergola! They just needed some willing learners and some extra hands. Of course, we took them up on their offer!
In total, we spent 6 days with the Home RenoVision DIY team - but only 3.5 of those actual work days. We may have distracted them with food and wine!
For the technical video that shows you how to build a wooden deck step-by-step, you can watch Jeff and Max's video here:
And for the behind-the-scenes adventures in home renovations, shopping trips to Home Depot, and tasty home cooked meals, you can watch this video.
We had a great time with the Home RenoVision DIY crew of Jeff, Max and Michelle and they quickly became friends. A huge THANK YOU to them once again for reaching out with this idea and transforming my parents' home!

Backyard Staycation ???? | Building a Wooden Deck and Pergola with Home RenoVision DIY:
Day 1: We met up with the Home Renovision DIY team Jeff, Max and Michelle to discuss the deck project, get to know each other, organize the building materials. In terms of food we had some empanadas and wine.
Day 2: We got up early to grab extra supplies at Home Depot. We began by digging holes for the floating deck. Audrey's was neat whereas mine was as big as a bathtub ;) For lunch, we ate polenta with tomato sauce and sausages and Osado a la Olla. I got to use power tools for the first time. We finished the floating deck in the afternoon.
Day 3: Today we worked on the main deck on top of the concrete slab. We also started work on the pergola. The deck on top of the concrete slab involved a lot of measurements and precision work by Jeff. We ended up having a picada for a mid-afternoon snack working until the sun went down.
Day 4: We finished off building the main deck and then went out for sushi.
Day 5: We started off the day by going to Home Depot to grab some more supplies and finished off building the pergola and put up the sails.
Day 6: We enjoyed a massive Argentine barbecue feast to end things off!
A special thanks to Jeff, Max and Michelle for making this possible! We had so much fun with the Home RenoVision team building the deck and sharing great food and conversation.
