Tannirbavi beach,(ತನ್ನಿರ್ಭವಿ ಬೀಚ್ ) Mangalore Tannirbavi beach (also written as, Tannirbhavi, Tannir Bavi, or Tanneeru Bavi, etc.) was always a quiet beach earlier, now attracts more people with the introduction of some basic facilities. Tannirbhavi beach is a beach in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. It can be reached either by land near Kuloor Bridge or by ferry via Gurupura river from Sultan Battery.travel guide-MY DIFFERENT TRAVEL
Tannirbhavi (also spelled as Tannirbavi) is one of the popular beaches in Mangalore city, and comes second in popularity to the nearby Panambur beach. Tannirbhavi beach has some basic facilities like life guards, proper toilets, a parking lot, a couple of small eateries and concrete benches.
On the other side of the land strip of the beach there is a barge-mounted 220 MW power plant set up by the GMR group.It is located at a distance of 12 km from Mangalore.
Tannirbhavi Tree Park is set up in an area of 15 hectares near Tannirbhavi Beach. It is an initiate by Karnataka Forest Department. The Tree Park includes tree species found in the Western Ghats and also the trees/plants are herbal and have medical importance. It has various sculptures depicting the culture of the region — Tulu Nadu such as Yakshagana and Buta Kola.
Tannirbhavi is well connected by road, and easily reachable in own vehicle or a hired one. Alternatively, you can take city bus (No. 16, 16b,16 c) from Statebank to Sultan Battery and take a Ferry ride across Gurupur river. After crossing the river with the ferry, you can find a way between trees and reach the beach.
Sultan Battery Overview
Tipu Sultan constructed this watchtower to keep a lookout for the entry of warships into the Gurpur River. The battery, made from black stones had been given the look of a miniature fortress. Not having withstood the test of time and extreme weather, this tower stands in ruins today.
Boloor is known for the watch tower constructed in the era of the emperor Tipu Sultan such that now the area surrounding the decaying structure is its namesake. The watch tower was constructed 15 years before his death in 1784 A.D. The place was previously known as Sultan's Battery (see artillery battery). It was constructed from stones of 23 churches destroyed by Tipu Sultan, during his 15-year imprisonment of the Mangalorean Catholics and the other Christians.
Sultan Battery was built of black stones and constructed to obstruct war ships from entering the river which was the major route for English invasion but was then retrieved from English by Tipu Sultan. Though the place holds the watch tower, it looks like a fort with mounting places for cannons. There is an underground storage area under the tower that was used to store gunpowder. It was the major dockyard and arsenal of the ruler. It was a naval station and was of great importance to the sultan as he used it to intercept enemy warships and prevent them from docking.
Tipu Sultan
If one climbs to the top of the watch tower by stairs, there is a panoramic view of Arabian Sea shows a blend of natural and man-made beauty. It is now nearly deserted with a few shacks and a boating club nearby, but it is gathering popularity among tourists.

Panambur beach
The city is called the Gateway of Karnataka] and lies between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats. The various temples and buildings in Mangalore include the Mangaladevi Temple, Kadri Manjunatha temple, St Aloysius Chapel, the Rosario Cathedral, Milagres Church, Dargah of Hazrat Shareef ul Madni at Ullal and the Zeenath Baksh Jumma Masjid in Bunder.
The city is also known for beaches such as Panambur, Tannirbavi, NITK beach, Sasihithlu beach, Someshwara beach, Ullal beach, Kotekar beach and Batapady beach. Panambur and Thannirbhavi beaches attract tourists from across the country. Panambur beach has many facilities including jet ski rides, Boating, dolphin viewing, food stalls, besides trained beach lifeguards and patrol vehicles to ensure the safety of the visitors. Saavira Kambada Basadi is situated 34 km (21 mi) northeast of Mangalore in the town of Moodabidri. The Sultan Battery watch tower, built by Tipu Sultan, situated in Boloor, is on the banks of Gurupura River where one can take the ferry ride by paying small amount across the river and reach Tannirbhavi Beach. Adyar waterfalls is at the outskirts at about 12 km (7.5 mi) from the city.
The city has developed and maintains public parks such as Pilikula Nisargadhama Kadri Park at Kadri, Tagore Park at Light House Hill, Gandhi Park at Gandhinagar, Tannirbavi Tree Park, Arise Awake Park at Karangalpady and Corporation Bank Park at Nehru Maidan. Pilikula comprises the zoo, botanical garden, lake, water park (Manasa), planetarium (Swami Vivekananda Planetarium) and a golf course (Pilikula Golf Course) which is set in an area of 35 acres.
Mangalore Dasara, a ten-day festival at Sri Gokarnatheswara temple attracts devotees from various states of India who visit Mangalore to witness Dasara. Mangaladevi Temple is another temple which attracts devotees from all over India during Navaratri.

DAY 2 : Adventures Of Mangalore | Beach, Tree Parks and Ice Cream Parlour
Day 2: 9th February 2018
Started Off a beautiful Morning by waking up at 9:30AM and visiting the infamous Panambur Beach, which was an hour and a half away from the Hotel.
As we enter the beach, we see locals selling swimming costumes and snacks,beverages for tourists who want to take advantage of the beach.
The Beach, as you might know, is a famous tourist spot and attraction. I enjoyed taking a swim but disliked the fact that it wasn't clean. An iconic view to the eye, for a peaceful environment, this beach is definitely a good place to visit.

Next, we decide to have Ice Cream from Pabbas Ice Cream Parlour/Hotel located in the vices of the big city. However, on the way we take a look at the Tannirbhavi Tree Park, a place filled with greenery which supports the ideas of the importance of Trees and saving them.
At the Ice Cream Parlour, I witnessed something unusual, and to my surprise I saw that all workers there, were Female. In a way, I was proud about that fact too. The Ice-Creams on the other hand was and is one of the best Ice creams I've ever had.

And finally the night ends with a dinner from the Machali Hotel, to enjoy some Sea-food. This day, Food hadn't disappointed me.
