Situated in the state of Sikkim, Tashiding Monastery is located approximately 40 km from Gyalshing and 19 km to the south east of Yoksum. Founded in 1717 by Ngadak Sempa Chembo (one of the three wise men who consecrated ceremony of the first lama), the monastery belongs to the Nyingmapa order.

Tashiding Monastery is a Buddhist monastery of the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism in Western Sikkim, northeastern India. It is located on top of the hill rising between the Rathong chu and the Rangeet River, 40 kilometres (25 mi) from Gyalshing and 19 kilometres (12 mi) to the south east of Yuksam. This is the most sacred and holiest monasteries in Sikkim.

Some serene visuals from the beautiful Tashiding monastery in West Sikkim. This is one of our personal favourites'. A place you will be drawn to immediately for the peace it exudes. The huge complex surrounded by trees and a lot of greenery is immediately welcoming. On the right side of the monastery are is the stupa complex with mega stupas. A great place for deep meditation and self healing.
The monastery has a special vantage point right on top of a helmet shaped hill overlooking valleys all around. The monastery allows long meditation retreats with prior permission. If you do wish to turn inwards for a while, this is the place to be.

Dubdi Monastery, occasionally called Yuksom Monastery, is a Buddhist monastery of the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism near Yuksom, in the Geyzing subdivision of West Sikkim district, in northeastern India.
The Chogyar Namgyal established the first monastery known as the Dubdi Monastery in 1701, at Yuksom in Sikkim, which is part of Buddhist religious pilgrimage circuit involving the Norbugang Chorten, Pemayangtse Monastery, the Rabdentse ruins, the Sanga Choeling Monastery, the Khecheopalri Lake and the Tashiding Monastery.
Established in 1701, it is professed to be the oldest monastery in Sikkim and is located on the top of a hill which is about an hour's walk (3 kilometres (1.9 mi)) from Yuksom. It was also known as the Hermit's Cell after its ascetic founder Lhatsun Namkha Jigme, who along with two other lamas from Tibet met at Norbugang near Yuksom and crowned Phuntsog Namgyal as the first King or Chogyal of Sikkim at Norbugang Yuksom in 1642. The literal meaning of 'Dubdi' in local language is the retreat.

Bumchu Festival 2018 |Sikkim|Traditional|Buddhist|Tashiding Monastry|
This festival is celebrated at Tashiding Monastery on the 15th day of the first month of the Tibetan calendar. Bumchu or the opening of the vessel containing the holy water is one of the holiest festivals in Sikkim. The level of water in this vessel is believed to be a sign of the fortunes of the coming year.
Each year, the vessel is opened to verify the level of water in it, it follows that if the water level is higher or lower then it signifies ill fortune such as droughts, diseases and natural calamities. A special recitation is conducted and the seal of the vase is checked before it is taken out of the case.
After the vessel is opened, the monks take seven cups of water from it and after mixing it with water from Rathong Chu distribute it among the devotees. To fill the vessel again, seven cups of water are taken from Rathong Chu and put into the vase and sealed until next year.
Devotees from all over Sikkim as well as neighboring countries like Bhutan, Nepal, etc. come to take part in this festival.

Incessant Rain On 16 Sep Night at Yuksam Tashiding Constituency Brought a Distress To Many People, Landslide Triggered Across Several Places Resulting In Exodus.
Area MLA and SLA Deputy Speaker Sangay Lepcha visits Landslide hit Tsong village in Yuksam.
Yuksam-Tashiding MLA and SLA deputy Speaker Sangay Lepcha visited the landslide hit Tsong Village today. He was accompanied by local authorities, panchayts and local Youths to assess the damages inflicted by mudslides and flash floods in the villages and to mobilize rescue and relief efforts.
A major landslides triggered by incessant rain ripped through Tshong and Mangtabong villages sweeping off houses and killing livestocks yesterday night.
The MLA instructed to speed up restoration activities after inspecting the damages at the landslide affected villages. The entourage then visited Mangtabong village, the hamlet remains under constant threat of landslides.
MLA Lepcha met with local officials and directed immediate assistance to the village. Being the area MLA I assure all possible help from the state Government. We are with the people of the village in these tough times, he said.
More than 66 families from Tshong village have been shifted to relief camps at Yuksam.
Reports of damage are still rolling in.
