Tate Liverpool at the Liverpool Biennial: The Ancient Greece Episode
This summer, Tate Liverpool is one of many venues across the city displaying new work as part of the Liverpool Biennial – the UK’s largest international contemporary art festival.
The 2016 edition of the Biennial draws on Liverpool’s past, present and future to take visitors on a series of voyages through time and space. These journeys take the form of six ‘episodes’, with the Tate’s contribution transforming its first floor galleries into Ancient Greece.

Sculptor, painter and creator of artistic installations and happenings, Edward Krasiński was one of the most significant Eastern European artists of the 20th century.
Born in Lutsk, now part of Ukraine, Krasiński had an experimental approach to art and exhibition making. Using everyday objects in unconventional ways, Krasiński’s work challenged traditional art forms and blurred the distinction between art and everyday life.
Highlights include Krasiński’s suspended sculptures that often appear gravity defying in their combination of invisible wires, visual puns and trickery, an exploration of the artist’s preoccupation with blue adhesive tape together with re-stagings of his major Interventions.

For Liverpool Biennial 2016, Tate Liverpool has transformed its first-floor galleries into Ancient Greece, with classical sculptures sitting alongside newly commissioned artworks. Tate Modern - London (England)
Tate Modern in London is a British museum of modern art and together with Tate Britain (formerly Tate Gallery, renamed in 2000), Tate Liverpool, Tate St. Ives and Tate Online, of the group currently known simply like Tate.
The museum was housed in the former power station of Bankside, in the district of Southwark, on the banks of the Thames. The mill, designed by architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and built in two phases between 1947 and 1963, was shut down in 1981 and the building was reconverted by the Swiss architects Herzog and Meuron.
