Inmates attack guards in brawl at Chicago supermax prison | USA
A group of inmates attacked two jail guards on April 26, 2017, in a large common area of the super maximum- security section of the Cook County Jail, the largest single-site jail in the United States. Three detainees repeatedly punched two correctional deputies in a housing tier in Division 9, as others watch, some cheering on the brawl and others stepping away from it. The guards eventually escape and a squad of reinforcements arrive to swarm the prisoners, but by then, most of the inmates have retreated into cells or are lying on the ground in submission. The deputies were taken to area hospitals for treatment. One guard suffered a fractured orbital bone and the other lost consciousness and was kept in the hospital for observation. Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart is seeking attempted murder charges on three inmates. The jail is located in the city of Chicago and houses about 10,000 prisoners and employs 3,900 law enforcement officials and 7,000 civilian employees.

Health insurance is a very complicated subject these days because it's constantly changing and once we feel like we had it figured out, the government comes in and changes something else. What if something major medically happens and you don't have insurance? You wipe out your savings account and everything-- it is not worth the risk and that's why it's really important to me.
Listening is extremely important to what I do because a lot of these situations are very unique and very personal. Having a clear understanding is important and a lot of times we're talking about your health, which is very personal to everyone. I really take the time to understand my client situation, and I do get that compliment, a lot of people say, Thank you. I've spoken with other people that weren't willing to take the time to understand what's going on. That's something that I've always prided myself on. It takes very little effort to listen, you just have to be there.
A lot of people, especially if they've tried to figure this out on their own, they've gotten to a point where they're truly overwhelmed. They have looked at different companies, different plans, different deductibles, different co-pays and different networks of doctors. They wind up back at square one. They don't know what it is that they just researched. I wholely support people doing their own research, I think that's important; there's a lot that's out there. But before you make any decisions talk to an expert.
Our services are free, so it's in your best interest to talk to someone that knows what's going on. Working with an organization like Healthcare Solutions Team does give me flexibility because we've got a lot of agents that are experts in different areas. If there's an area that maybe I'm unsure of, I can go bounce that idea off another agent which is huge. Whether it be I have a Medicare question or maybe I'm working with a business and how do we design a group plan or what's the best option for an individual who is looking to get pregnant. All these different scenarios that if you haven't been through that specific situation before, somebody has and we've got resources to still find the best option, bouncing ideas off people.
Representing so many different insurance companies does give me the flexibility to find exactly the plan that you're looking for. And in a lot of cases, the plan you're looking for might not be from any one insurance company. It might come from several different insurance companies. Working with so many different companies does give me the flexibility to get one plan from one company and one plan from another company. At the end of the day, we're trying best design a package that fits what you're looking for.
One of the important lessons that I learned my grandfather is that hard work and integrity are important and that's something I do take seriously. In some cases, I might not be able to help someone, and I hope that I can help every client, but if I can't, I'll say, Keep what you have. I'll let them know whatever the best situation is. They can keep my number for the future!
I'm finding that as my business gets larger and larger, it's more and more difficult for me to spend more time with my clients. So one of the ways that I'm trying to address that is by providing blogs through my social media. A couple of recent topics I wrote about is what is critical illness insurance, a lot of people don't know what it is or how it works.
The other topic I recently wrote about was international travel health insurance-- how it works when you travel outside of the United States and am I covered? A lot of times the answer is no. We try to put them in as many places as possible, Facebook and LinkedIn and my website to provide a free resource and additional information for people that are curious.
To keep things as simple as possible, what I do is when you get sick you have to go see the doctor, and we're the shield that's essentially protecting you so you don't lose your savings account or lose your home. If you get sick and wind up in the hospital the bills get out of control, quickly. That's what we're here to do, here to protect you from.
Healthcare is constantly changing and I can guarantee you it's going to continue to change in the future. I'm a free resource to my clients, my services are free. My compensation comes from the insurance companies so if you have any questions you can give me a call or shoot me an email-- I always respond.

USA Basketball's shocking finish vs. Yugoslavia needs a deep rewind | 2002 FIBA World Championship
After nearly all the stars dropped out, USA Basketball sent an awkwardly constructed, ill-prepared team to the 2002 FIBA World Championship. This is the story not only of their startling run in the tournament, but of their opponent in the knockout round: Yugoslavia. After decades of being truly Yugoslavian -- a multi-ethnic basketball powerhouse -- the team calling itself by that name was by 2002 only composed of Serbian and Montenegrin players. Those included one star holdover from the old days (Vlade Divac), plus some promising youngsters like Peja Stojakovic.
Check out this episode of REWINDER to see what went down, and how these two teams with very different trajectories got to that point.

HARLEM Globetrotters PPG Arena Pittsburgh USA
The Globetrotters originated on the south side of Chicago, Illinois, in 1926, where all the original players were raised. The Globetrotters began as the Savoy Big Five, one of the premier attractions of the Savoy Ballroom opened in January 1928, a basketball team of African-American players that played exhibitions before dances due to declining dance attendance.[5] In 1928, several players left the team in a dispute. That autumn, those players, led by Tommy Brookins, formed a team called the Globe Trotters and toured Southern Illinois that spring. Abe Saperstein became involved with the team as its manager and promoter. By 1929, Saperstein was touring Illinois and Iowa with his basketball team called the New York Harlem Globe Trotters. Saperstein selected Harlem, New York, New York, as their home city since Harlem was considered the center of African-American culture at the time and an out-of-town team name would give the team more of a mystique.[6] In fact, the Globetrotters did not play in Harlem until 1968, four decades after the team's formation.
The Globetrotters were perennial participants in the World Professional Basketball Tournament, winning it in 1940. In a heavily attended matchup a few years later, the 1948 Globetrotters–Lakers game, the Globetrotters made headlines when they beat one of the best white basketball teams in the country, the Minneapolis Lakers (now the Los Angeles Lakers). The Globetrotters continued to easily win games due to Harlem owning the entire talent pool consisting of the best black basketball players of the country at the time. Once one of the most famous teams in the country, the Globetrotters were eventually eclipsed by the rise of the National Basketball Association, particularly when NBA teams began fielding African-American players in the 1950s.[7] In 1950, Harlem Globetrotter Chuck Cooper became the first black player to be drafted in the NBA by Boston and teammate Nat Sweetwater Clifton became the first African-American player to sign an NBA contract when the New York Knicks purchased his contract from the Globetrotters for $12,500 (Harlem getting $10,000 and Clifton getting $2,500.[8]
The Globetrotters gradually worked comic routines into their act—a direction the team has credited to Reece Goose Tatum,[9] who joined in 1941—and eventually became known more for entertainment than sports.[10] The Globetrotters' acts often feature incredible coordination and skillful handling of one or more basketballs, such as passing or juggling balls between players, balancing or spinning balls on their fingertips, and making unusually difficult shots.[11]
In 1952, the Globetrotters invited Louis Red Klotz to create a team to accompany them on their tours. This team, the Washington Generals (who also played under various other names), became the Globetrotters' primary opponents. The Generals are effectively stooges for the Globetrotters, with the Globetrotters handily defeating them in thousands of games

Chicago, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri
Two American Midwestern cities just 260 miles (418 km) apart, although if you’ve seen Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, you’d think they were a lot further away than that.
Wait, why I am comparing these two cities? Why not Chicago and Houston? Or St. Louis and Kansas City? Doesn’t that make more sense.
Well kind of. But I’m comparing Chicago and St. Louis because those two cities were once in direct competition to become the biggest and most important city in the Midwest. I’m making this video in collaboration with Dave from the channel City Beautiful. On his channel, he has a video explaining why and how Chicago beat out St. Louis to indeed become THE biggest, most important Midwestern city. Be sure to check it out after you’re done watching this one.
Once upon a time, it was actually St. Louis that appeared to be destined to become the biggest, most important American Midwestern city. First of all, St. Louis is older than Chicago. It was founded by the French in 1764, after they lost the Seven Years’ War. Basically, French settlers fled there from the east after the British took over their former territory. For its first 38 years, St. Louis was under Spanish control. So while the French lived there, the Spanish guarded the town during that time. In those early years, St. Louis established itself as a major fur trading center. In 1803, when it had maybe 1,000 people living there, the United States bought Louisiana from France after it briefly took it back over. St. Louis, being in Louisiana, was now an American city, and became the administrative capital of all of Louisiana Territory. After Lewis and Clark left St. Louis exploring this vast territory, others would follow, and the city became a hub for folks on their way out to the “Wild West.”
St. Louis steadily grew, it’s population nearing 5,000 by 1830. In 1833, when St. Louis was 69 years old, Chicago was finally born. I mean, St. Louis was a creepy old man by the time Chicago came around. While St. Louis was mostly a fur trading hub, Chicago quickly became a transportation hub, a way to connect the east, where most Americans lived, to the west. It was the site of the Illinois and Michigan Canal, completed in 1848 to connect the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River. After a couple decades, it became the most important railroad city in the country.

The Chicago Bulls are an American professional basketball team based in Chicago, Illinois. The Bulls compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference Central Division. The team was founded on January 16, 1966. The team plays its home games at the United Center, an arena shared with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL).
The Bulls saw their greatest success during the 1990s, when they were responsible for popularizing the NBA worldwide. They are known for having one of the NBA's greatest dynasties, winning six NBA championships between 1991 and 1998 with two three-peats. All six championship teams were led by Hall of Famers Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and coach Phil Jackson. The Bulls are the only NBA franchise to win multiple championships and never lose an NBA Finals series in their history.
The Bulls won 72 games during the 1995–96 NBA season, setting an NBA record that stood until the Golden State Warriors won 73 games during the 2015–16 NBA season. The Bulls were the first team in NBA history to win 70 games or more in a single season, and the only NBA franchise to do so until the 2015–16 Warriors. Many experts and analysts consider the 1996 Bulls to be one of the greatest teams in NBA history.
As of 2017, the Bulls are the fourth most valuable NBA franchise according to Forbes. Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose have both won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award while playing for the Bulls, for a total of six MVP awards.
