The Teatro Municipale is a theatre in Reggio Emilia, Northern Italy. Following the destruction by fire of the 1741 Teatro Cittadella in April 1851, the new theatre was designed by the architect Cesare Costa and connstructed in the neoclassic style between 1852 and 1857. Its inauguration took place on 21 April 1857 with the performance of the Vittor Pisani by local composer Achille Peri.
It is the pre-eminent public theatre of the city and is located in its historical centre next to the public park and near the smaller and more recent theatre Teatro Ariosto. It sponsors concerts, operas and ballet performance, while the adjacent, smaller, and more recently built Teatro Ariosto serves a more intimate stage for dramatic performances. The theatre has a rectangular base that measures 80 x 43.60 meters and covers an area of 3,763 square meters. The audience capacity is 1150 people. It has 56 dressing rooms for the artists and 16 anterooms.
The concert hall is elliptical and has 106 boxes placed on four tiers plus a regal box and a gallery. The frescoes on the ceiling are of the local artist Domenico Pellizzi. The curtain was painted by Alfonso Chierici. The outside is composed by 12 Tuscan columns made of granite on the ground floor while on the first floor it has 13 windows spaced by Ionic columns. On top of the building there are statues made by sculptors Prudenzio Piccioli, Ilario Bedotti, Giovanni Chierici, Antonio Ilarioli, Attilio Rabaglia.

Guidati da speciali Ciceroni, ovvero dalle persone che al Valli lavorano tutto l'anno, i nostri lettori hanno visitato luoghi magici del Municipale: la sala dell'astrolampo, la sala dei pittori, il retro palco in IV ordine (con la speciale firma del pittore conosciuto come Boccion). Non solo: hanno anche potuto sbirciare dietro le quinte dell'opera Le Villi di Giacomo Puccini, in cartellone al Valli, e fare un salto nei camerini, ammirando i costumi di scena.

Reggio Emilia is a city in northern Italy, in the Emilia-Romagna region. It has about 170,000 inhabitants and is the main comune of the Province of Reggio Emilia. The town is also referred to by its more official name of Reggio nell'Emilia.
The inhabitants of Reggio nell'Emilia (called Reggiani) usually call their town by the simple name of Reggio. In some ancient maps the town is also named Reggio di Lombardia.
The old town has an hexagonal form, which derives from the ancient walls, and the main buildings are from the 16th–17th centuries. The comune's territory is totally on a plain, crossed by the Crostolo stream.

Reggio Emilia is a city in northern Italy, in the Emilia-Romagna region. It has about 171,400 inhabitants and is the main comune of the Province of Reggio Emilia. The town is also referred to by its more official name of Reggio nell'Emilia. Often written off as an emergency pit stop on the Via Emilia, Reggio Emilia states its case as the birthplace of the Italian flag – the famous red, white and green tricolour – and a convenient base for sorties south into the region's best natural attraction, the Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Tosco-Emiliano.
Those savvy enough to get out of their train/car/bus will find a cyclist-friendly city of attractive squares, grand public buildings and a leafy park. Known also as Reggio nell'Emilia, the town started life in the 2nd century BC as a Roman colony along the Via Emilia. Much of Reggio was built by the Este family during the 400 years it controlled the town, beginning in 1406.
The best Reggio Emilia can offer is all in the city center, so you probably won't need to get a taxi. Taxi are not so common in Reggio Emilia, it's almost impossible to see one around in the streets. If you need one, you can catch it at the train station, or just make sure to have phone numbers to call one. Visit the Maramotti collection of modern art, located in what was formerly the site of production of Max Mara clothing in the suburb of Pieve Modolena (reached with a short westward trip by bus along the via Emilia)

The hills and the mountains in the south of Reggio Emilia are definitely worth a visit, but you can reach some areas only if you have a car or a motorbike. The main locations will be served also by public transports (bus). If you travel by bus make sure to buy your return ticket before leaving Reggio and to check the time tables, as there's no public transport in the evening and in the night.

La liberazione di Reggio Emilia
24 aprile 1945, Reggio Emilia è liberata dalla tirannide nazi-fascista. Questo video, ritrovato negli archivi militari americani, è stato girato da un soldato alleato giunto a Reggio quel giorno.
Nelle prime immagini, soldati tedeschi arresisi ad Albinea vengono perquisiti dagli alleati, mentre il grosso gruppo di partigiani studia sulle carte le ultime operazioni per l'avvicinamento alla città. I partigiani saranno i primi ad entrare a Reggio accolti dai festeggiamenti della popolazione, subito seguiti dall'arrivo delle prime unità americane.
In piazza della Vittoria i partigiani sfilano tra due ali di folla festante, ma all'improvviso cecchini fascisti, nascosti sui tetti del teatro Ariosto, sparano sulla folla che si disperde (min. 2.55) . Gli alberi e i monumenti del parco del Popolo diventano teatro di una sparatoria tra cecchini e partigiani, che si estende successivamente per diverse strade della città.
Al minuto 4.35, il primo carro Shermann americano raggiunge il centro di Reggio in piazza del Monte (all'epoca piazza Cesare Battisti), mentre colonne militari attraversano i viali della circonvallazione.
Al sesto minuto l'ennesima sparatoria contro i cecchini fascisti in via Ariosto, intanto altre truppe alleate raggiungono la città passando davanti al Mauriziano, accolti dalla popolazione in festa, la guerra e il fascismo erano finiti. Più di 600 partigiani erano caduti nei 20 mesi precedenti.
