Teguise Market
Teguise ist die alte Hauptstadt der Insel. Die Altstadt von Teguise hat bis zum heutigen Tag sein Bild nicht verändert und steht seit etwa zwanzig Jahren unter Denkmalschutz. Nette kleine Häuser, Klöster, Kirchen und gemütliche Plätzchen bestimmen das Ortsbild. Teguise ist ruhig und verträumt, nur Sonntags ist hier die Hölle los.
Am Sonntag findet der wöchentliche Sonntagsmarkt in der Ortsmitte statt, und da kommen aus allen Himmelsrichtungen die Händler und Bauern, um ihre Waren feilzubieten. Und die Touristen aus allen Orten der Insel treffen sich hier dann auch. Eine Anfahrt nach Teguise sollte man Sonntags am besten mit dem Bus machen, da Parkplätze rund um den Ort hoffnungslos überfüllt sind. Neben dem Markttreiben lohnt sich ein Besuch im Palacio Spinola, einem alten Herrschaftshaus gegenüber der Pfarrkirche.

LANZAROTE:TEGUISE Market
Teguise is the old capital of Lanzarote and therefore should be distinguished from Costa Teguise, another tourist resort on the coast. Teguise lies inland and Monday to Saturday is a sleepey village - but on a Sunday awakens as market stalls fill the cobbled streets and the sound of panpipes emanates from the village square .
The Canary Islands are set off the coast of western Africa, the archipelago consists of 7 islands and 6 islets and is divided into two provinces. At the east, the first one is called Las Palmas with 3 islands - Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and the islets. At the west is Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro which form the second province named Santa Cruz de Tenerife.The islands belong to Spain and although part of the European Union, avoid various European custom/duty charges. The Canaries enjoy hot sunny weather all year round, duty free prices and are home to some of the best beaches in Europe.
