Vaellusretki, Trekking in Masca, Tenerife
Noin 8 km patikointiretki laskeutuen Mascan kylästä rotkolaakson kautta meren rannalle, josta paluu Los Gigantesiin moottoriveneellä. A unique experience of the local scenery of Tenerife in Masca gorge. Ideal and challenging route for people with excellent physical and muscular condition, not suitable for people with any physical health problems. Trekking shoes required. Feet get easily wet when repeatedly crossing the river by stones during the hike. The hike is mainly about descending 8 km (about 4 hours) on the slopes of the valley towards the seaside. You will probably have your legs aching even a few days afterwards if your only physical challenge is hiking on a fairly flat surface.

Tenerife | June 2016
Had the opportunity to meet my friend Allison in Tenerife, Spain this summer, and man was it amazing!
We drove around the entire island with a guy called Onno, and we attempted to climb El Teide, the main volcano of the island.
We didn't make it, but we had an amazing view of the sunset, psych, it was sunrise, but for the stories sake, it looks like a sunset! ;D It was freezing!
I hope you enjoyed the video, it's not perfect and I have lots more to learn but I learned a lot whilst filming and editing this one, so they can only get better from here!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In this video, I tried to catch some of the surprising scenery, driving from Puerto de la Cruz, in the North to the Cable Car base of Mount Teide, chasing one of the most amazing sunsets I ever experienced. I truly believe it’s totally worth dedicate half a day or an entire day from your holiday to walk, climb, hike, ride, bike or whatever you feel most comfortable doing, and get to see Teide National Park.
What I love about Mount Teide and the many attractions related to it is the incredible journey it takes you on. First, there’s this amazing scenery, changing every other 10 minutes. The road to Teide Volcano base is a constant wow generator. Then, you reach the moon like base, where you can ride the Cable Car and get first hand experience of what a volcano feels like, you can literally feel the heat from within. And, for me, the ultimate thrill is the stargazing experience. Teide by night is something I cannot compare to any other experience, so far.
HOW TO GET TO TEIDE CABLE CAR:
1. by car from anywhere on the island; it’s approximately an hour’s drive from any point on the island; set your destination to Teide Cable Car or Teleférico del Teide and the navigation will take you there, should be on one of these routes:
• from the North: take the TF-21 motorway which connects La Orotava with El Portillo de la Villa and crosses the Teide National Park. The Cable Car is at km 43;
• from the South: Take the TF-21 motorway from Vilaflor to Teide National Park, the route of access for the tourist areas of Playa de Américas and Los Cristianos.
You’ll find a free parking area for up to 220 vehicles at the cable car base.
2. book a guided tour with transfer and they will pick you up at the closest bus stop available. I recommend Volcano Teide experiences, where you can book a guided hike, tour, visit in several languages, for different attractions: Teide Observatory, Teide National Park, climb to the top…
TOP 3 MUST DOs activities on Mount Teide:
1. drive to the Cable Car base, the road will take you up to 2,356 m. Ride the cable car to the top station, at 3,555 m, and walk around on one of the paths to explore the volcano and enjoy fabulous views of the national park;
2. go exclusive and get the sunset and stars treat, a guided tour which will take you closer to the stars. The Canary Islands are one of the three best spots in the world to observe the sky, along with Chile and Hawaii;
3. book the guided hike from the top station to the top of the mountain, the highest in Spain - 3.718 m. It’s a low difficulty hike, available only by foot, with a permit from local authorities, which will take you to the crater, conquer the peak and enjoy spectacular views, including of neighboring Canary Islands.
Any of these three or a combination of them is a must do, in my opinion. It’s an unique place you’ll definitely remember.
