Terry Trueblood Trout Fishing in Iowa City
Throughout the winter and early spring the Iowa DNR stocks urban bodies of water with trout periodically to offer angles a different experience in their backyards than they usually receive. Callie and I decided to take advantage of this on a warm Friday of a spring slow to warm up. The fishing was slow at first but picked up as the day went on. We each limited out and had a ton of fun in the process. Remember couples that fish together stay together!

Iowa City In Focus: 1st Avenue Construction Update
Iowa City In Focus brings the people, places, and projects of Iowa City into clear view. This monthly video program aims to highlight topical events and subjects through in-depth storytelling. Here’s what you’ll find in this month’s episode:
The Public Works Department is set to complete the majority of construction work on First Avenue by the end of December, opening up all lanes of traffic. With 13,000 vehicles using the road each day, the railroad that previously intersected with the road was causing major traffic delays and safety concerns for pedestrians. The First Avenue Grade Separation Project, which was designed to allow traffic to flow under the train tracks, began in April of 2015. Aside from some landscaping work that will be done in the spring of 2017, the improvements will be completed by the end of the year. Learn more at icgov.org/firstavenueproject.
In order to keep the streets clear and safe during a winter weather storm, the Iowa City Streets Division needs you to follow the parking rules during a snow emergency. This policy impacts anyone who parks a vehicle on the street, and if the rules are not followed it can result in your vehicle being towed. Learn when a snow emergency can be declared, how to stay informed, and all the parking rules that you need to know when winter weather strikes. Snow emergencies are only put into effect during extreme conditions to ensure the safety of all Iowa City residents. Read the complete ordinance at icgov.org/snow.
From horse drawn carriage rides to a gingerbread house competition, there is plenty going on in Iowa City during December. ‘Tis the Season is a holiday campaign organized by Iowa City Downtown District, and includes holiday favorites such as Santa Saturdays and the Downtown Holiday Market. Late Winter Trout Fishing | Allamakee County, Iowa
Got out of my element and went wading through a stream to catch trout! It was a blast and I had an opportunity to fish in such a beautiful place.
A friend of mine (Ryan) invited me to hit the streams in Eastern Iowa, it sure was nice to fish in open water for a change and a good way to get tuned up for the upcoming bass season.
