Romania - Nadia Comaneci Returns To Bucharest

NADIA COMANECI BACKFLIPS ON 5-YEAR DEFECTION
Bucharest, Romania Natsot. Duration: 1.27
World famous gymnast Nadia Comaneci has returned home, to Bucharest, Romania, five years after making a daring escape to flee the regime of communist hardliner Nicolai Ceausescu. Comaneci, who scored the first perfect ten at the 1976 Olympics, arrived with a Romanian team that had just won the world title. Now 33 and accompanied by American fiance Bart Conner, himself an Olympic champion in 1984, Comaneci left Romania a month before the fall of the communist regime; her private life, tarnished by allegations she was a Communist sympathiser. Some refused to welcome her return, criticising Comaneci for failing to raise the level of gymnastics in Romania, despite her five Olympic golds and two world titles. During her ten day trip she was to meet President Ion Iliescu and visit her old training base at Onesti in the north. Comaneci donated 100,000 (US ) dollars to train up-and-coming performers. In her time she won five Olympic gold medals and two world titles.

Romania 2015 part 3 / 4 (Bucharest)
A wonderful trip: Munich to Romania and back (about 3400 Km.).
The destinations which are presents in the film, are only a part of Romania. There are more wonderful destinations, but we had to travel only 3 weeks.
From this journey I made 4 films.
The films are a mix of moving pictures (filmed) and photography.
I've written some general and useful information to.
Here is the third Part:
The destinations of the third part are: Bucharest
22nd December 1989: Overthrow of Nicolae Ceaușescu in Romania
He and his wife fled the capital Bucharest in a helicopter, but after landing in a field were arrested, tried, and sentenced to death.
Five days before his overthrow, on the 17th December, Nicolae Ceaușescu had ordered the military to put down a revolt in the western Romanian city of Timișoara. Triggered by government’s attempt to evict an ethnic Hungarian pastor who they accused of inciting ethnic hatred, the Timișoara uprising quickly became a broader anti-government demonstration. News of the government’s crackdown was not shared in the heavily-censored press, but quickly spread through western radio stations such as Radio Free Europe.
With unrest spreading, Ceaușescu addressed a staged demonstration from a balcony in Bucharest on the 21st December. However, despite the presence of the brutal secret police known as the Securitate, the crowd began to heckle him and Ceaușescu was hustled back inside the building by his bodyguards. With the speech being televised around Romania, and the video feed only being cut after the start of the crowd’s protest, it was clear that something monumental was unfolding.
Having failed to regain control by the following morning, the 22nd December, Ceaușescu and his wife fled the Central Committee building by helicopter. However, their pilot faked a threat of anti-aircraft fire and landed. The Ceaușescus were later arrested and subjected to a show trial on Christmas Day. Found guilty of genocide and other crimes including illegally gathering wealth, they were sentenced to death. They were taken outside and shot within minutes of the trial ending.

Bucharest, Romania Architecture Vlog ????️
Vlog of my trip to the very cool city of Bucharest, Romania! Right away you get the feeling that you are in Eastern Europe, with a feel of its communist past just by the look of the buildings around. I very much enjoyed this city as I found there was not as much tourists from America who typically come here, so it was refreshing to be somewhere that I think more people need to go and see. A lot of history is here as well as the people who are very proud of their culture and appreciate those who come to their country.

They live exactly like the others, and I approach the art and artists the same because of their special way of behaving.
24. Various of Moroccan artist Mountassir Chemeo
25. SOUNDBITE: (French) Mountassir Chemeo, artist
The ideas are encouraged here, maybe we are stressed a little, and maybe this is the reason of the work, it is a lot of black and parallel bars.
26. Various of paintings
27. Various of German artist Gerd Messmann
28. SOUNDBIT: (German) Gerd Massmann, artist
It is a special opportunity for me to work along with other prisoners here and this makes me happy.
29. Close of Massmann painting
30. Various of Italian artist Paolo Pompei painting and measuring barbed wire
32. Various of Pompei painting wire
34. Close of printing machine
35. Various of Szaban Gyorgy looking at print
36. SOUNDBITE: (Hungarian) Szaban Gyorgy, artist
So, this artist's workshop therefore inspires me as we are the good ones, the ones who entered (stepped in) from outside and the bad ones are those who are inside convicted. I'm very inspired by human badness and kindness, and talent and lack of talent. We who are talented are trying now to represent the life of the people in jail (prison). It is very inspiring to me the way the prisoners live here and the way those who are free can create freely in a closed place.
37. Various of finished prints
38. Various of Herbert Stoger painting
39. Close of work
40. SOUNDBITE: (German) Herbert Stoger, visiting artist from Austria
What seems to me to be interesting that you are imprisoned and still free, to cope with such a state of affairs, and with the life in prison and to have an idea of how things could look like.
41. Close of painting
42. Various of Ovidiu showing cell keys and giving instructions
43. UPSOUND: (Romanian) prison guard
you have to walk in line and respect the rules.

LEAD IN:
Artists from around the world are taking part in a new project in Romania.
Dubbed 'Prison Art', the artists have agreed to be locked up for two weeks.
While 'inside', they will be creating all kinds of works inspired by their experiences.
STORYLINE:
A group of artists from around the world is taking part in an unusual art project in Romania.
Rather than decamping to a quiet location to find inspiration, these artists are moving into a Romanian jail.
Located 400 kilometres north of capital Bucharest, the jail is one of the oldest and toughest in the country.
For two weeks, six artists from Austria, Germany, Hungary, Morocco, Haiti, Italy and Romania, are going to live and work in the prison.
