San Kamphaeng - Silk factory & Hot Springs
By train we went from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. West of this city is San Kamphaeng, a small village famous for its silk and handicrafts. We visited a silk factory & the Shinawatra Thai Silk shop. After that we went to Roong Aroon Hot Springs, a nice place where you can take a relaxing bath in warm mineral water or boil an egg in the hot water. In the afternoon we went shopping at Talat Warorot, the oldest market of Chiang Mai, and finished our day at a terrace near the old city wall in the centre of Chiang Mai, where street vendors offer you nice drinks and meals....

Factories set up outlet shops along the road to San Kamphaeng outside of Chiang Mai, Thailand. You can buy stuff made by Thailand's hilltribes like the Hmong, Akha, Karen, Lisu, and Lahu; get a mulberry paper umbrella like those made in Bo Sang, or learn how silk is made.
