Night Market in Cambodia ???????? | Khemer Street local food in Siem Reap
#Angkor _Night _Market in Siem Reap opened in 2007. It is said to be the first night market in Cambodia. What sets it apart from the other night markets I have seen in other Asian cities like Hong Kong, Malacca, and Bangkok, the Angkor Night Market features and highlights not just the goods being sold but also the place itself — a series of stylish traditional huts built Khmer style. This fosters a very Cambodian atmosphere, adding to a genuinely delightful experience walking around the labyrinth of over 240 shops. Most of the items available are paintings, wood carvings, silk, and local delicacies. There are also a few massage and spa bars for those who need a little more pampering after a day of exploring the city.
After fifteen minutes of squeezing our way through the narrow alleys sandwiched by traditional souvenir shops and massage corners, we emerged from the night market empty-handed. It’s not that we could not find anything great — there was a lot actually — but I just thought it was too early to buy souvenirs from this trip. It was only Day 3 of my month-long Southeast Asian trip and I wouldn’t want to worry about overspending in the future.
Pub Street
Just a couple of blocks from Angkor Night Market lies Pub Street. The name alone excites tourists, myself included. As the name suggests, Pub Street is a short alley flanked by clubs, bars, and restaurants, offering a wide variety of culinary treats from Khmer specialties to Western favorites. All these under the glowing neon signs of the establishments that have redefined the tourism culture in the city while providing what travelers look for — a happy hour after an exhausting day of touring.
Most of the customers here are backpackers ready for a drink or two (or twenty). Two of the most popular are Angkor What? and Temple Club, both seem to be on a neck-and-neck race for the award for who’s got the louder speakers. But the amped up music filling the air sets the party mood, with some tourists even dancing in the street. I had a pleasure of watching one female traveler showcase her best Gangnam Style moves.
Tucked in one adjacent alleyway is a bar called Linga. One night, on the way to the Pub Street, we passed by this establishment and we were drawn by the growing crowd. Apparently, the bar stages shows featuring their best gay performers. I also noticed that most of the patrons were gay men. Seeing cities embrace diversity always paints a smile on my face.

How SAFE is Phnom Penh ???????? at NIGHT? | Social Experiment
There are many stories of tourist getting robbed, kidnapped and even murdered in Southeast-asian countries. While that is less prominent now, it does not mean that these countries are absolutely safe. This social experiment that I conducted must not be tried by anyone. I have all my safety measures in place in case of any emergency. Again, you must not do what I do in this video.
Solo travelling in Southeast-asian countries like Cambodia should not be something that you should be afraid to do. Instead, take the necessary precautions by not loitering alone in a dark back alley anytime during the day or night. There are still cases of kidnapping, rape, robbery and murder in Phnom Penh. Take the necessary precautions (by informing your friends/parents of your whereabouts. If you're solo travelling, let your hostel host or hostel mates know of your whereabouts too).

PHNOM PENH VEGAN FOOD GUIDE // THE BEST BUBBLE TEA in CAMBODIA??
HelloMyLoves
This is a vegan food guide around Phnom Penh - except the delicious Bubble Milk Tea I was having, but I feel like everyone MUST know where to get the best bubble tea in Phnom Penh because bubble tea is life! These were the only restaurants that were open as I visited Phnom Penh during Pchum Benh festival, however, I have to say that the food was exceptional in all of them!
- An Cha’s Taiwan Milk Tea
- Irrawadi: vegan/ vegetarian friendly
- Sumatra Restaurant: shout out to TEMPE lovers: vegan/ vegetarian friendly
- Sara’s Vegetarian Restaurant : Vegan platter
- Master Ruma Healthy Vegetarian
Other places that I will definitely visit in the future but were closed during my stay:
-Masala Dosa Street Kitchen
-Evergreen Vegetarian House
Of course there is a Vibe Cafe and an Artillery Cafe too which both have branches in Siem Reap as well and they are very much beloved - and very popular - places by both expats and tourists.

A VLOG of an evening drinking around the bars of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. On this night I decided to have a game of poker in the early evening...

6:15 Heading to Okay Boutique hotel alley
7:59 Finally on a mototaxi to play poker
9:04 Mototaxi didn't want to drop me off at Riverking (Comfort Star 2 hotel on 184 street), and proceeded to take me all the way to Nagaworld and gouge me for money

25:45 The Corner 136 bar view. Including chatting with a friendly hostess lady about my poker game, Nagaworld, Phnom Penh hotels, Cambodian Riel and other things...
35:02 Outro
Additional comments:
Poker
They don't have poker or casinos in Thailand, and I was itching to play on this trip after not being in a game for ages. I didn't want to get stuck in a game for hours on end like I did in Angeles City (Philippines) and lose drinking time in the bars. I set myself a challenge of only a maximum of 1 hour of play and if my cards connected then I'd have to put the entire $200 at risk and try to double it to $400. And that's what happened... :)
Street 172
This is Phnom Penh's cheap charlie area. It is home to many inexpensive bars, restaurants, guesthouses and also has a few hostess bars thrown in for good measure.
It is a good place to find $0.50 draught beers and many expat teachers congregate here in groups for the inexpensive offerings. The food is generally good here and many restaurants do take away service for the local expats.
Moto taxi rides
Phnom Penh is not a place to wander around alone late at night, even around the tourist areas. Cambodia is a much poorer country than Thailand, and reports of crimes against tourists/expats are often suppressed in the news.
Street 136
This is my favourite street for hostess bars in Phnom Penh. The Corner 136 is my favourite bar as they have a nice chilled balcony at the top, and a good bar downstairs with nightly dancing shows. A lot of hostess ladies inside too which is never a bad thing ;)
My hostess lady was very friendly and pleasant. We chatted about various different things including hotels, bar ladies often know all the best places to stay ;)

Cambodia Nightlife - VLOG 19 (bars, clubs, girls)
Drinking All Night long in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
A video showing some of the sights from a very messy night of drinking in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. There are a couple of hostess bars missing from the night but I got footage of nearly everywhere I went.
The $5.50 steak tasted pretty good in the Dolce Vita restaurant. It wasn't perfect but at that price I can recommend it.
Poker game was a cash game at the Red Fox. Tournaments start at 6pm and cash games run later. The minimum buyin was only $20 for the friendly cash game this night.
The corner bar was good for people watching, and the hostesses were pleasant company.
At 4:14 not sure if the guy was playing a joke or actually trying to steal or make me drop the camera.
The Walkabout was nearly dead, but had a few stragglers around.
Heart of Darkness was pretty much dead and I only stayed for 5 mins.
Pontoon Nightclub was lively, playing hip hop music and having a quite a few customers (cute bar staff too).
The Black Cat Bar was ok, but was winding down.
My memory from Candy bar is almost a complete blur. There were a few ladyboys around and also a few girls. I tried to take a photo of the passed out guy as I was leaving, but the girl was blocking me so I made a video instead (you can hear her giving me abuse in the next shot of the sun lol).
The light for filming was amazing in the morning so I made a little outro montage of my journey home.
Overall it was a great night out. However one caveat, I was short changed heavily at one bar I visited and they wouldn't correct it when challenged (don't ever pay in large denominations at the bars - rookie error). IMO It's these kind of practices that that stop people coming back for future visits to Cambodia.
Thank you for watching.
