On a quest for the Northern Lights, we enjoyed our visit to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. Kick back at the Woodyard Brewhouse and see the area like never before! Ride a dog sled, drive the ice road to Dettah and visit the Snowking's ice castle. Oh yeah, and see those magnificent Auroras too. 17 minutes of fun! On you huskies!

As a South or North American, the cheapest way to see Aurora is in Whitehorse Yukon, Canada. I compared it with all other options from Canada to Alaska, USA and from transportation to accommodations, Yukon is the place to do it!

Last year I also saw the solar winds in Yellowknife NWT and although I got the best northern lights there, I prefer Yukon for it's beautiful landscape. Manitoba also offers some Aurora borealis in the north of the province but it's very expensive to get there. This is why Whitehorse is the cheapest and my top pick for Aurora.

Our Trip to Yellowknife, Canada (December 2016)
We went on an amazing trip to Canada in December 2016, with one of our stops being Yellowknife. Yellowknife is a really special place and we're so happy to have been able to go. It was a little chilly though. This week shows our trip there, with temperatures dipping to -38°C. We got to see the ice road, experience northern culture, witness the aurora borealis and eat amazing northern dishes. I would so love to go back there one day, although next time in the summer!
Amazing Northern Lights | Yellowknife, Canada
We saw the Northern Lights aka Aurora Borealis in Yellowknife, Canada and it was one of the most incredible natural forces of nature I've ever seen. We were invited to travel to Yellowknife, Northern Canada by Samsung Canada to try out the new Galaxy Note8 with no obligations to create a video, but how could we not? Yellowknife made us fall even more in love with the country, when we didn't think it was possible. #DoBiggerThings #DoWhatYouCant #Canada150

Aurora Village, Yellowknife
People from all over the world flock to Yellowknife to see the aurora borealis or northern lights, and the perfect place to view them is just outside of the city in a destination called Aurora Village. People gather in traditional tipis heated by cozy wood fires and wait for the light show to emerge. We had the opportunity to visit Aurora Village on two different nights AND during the day when they have dog sled rides, tubing, and campfires where you can roast marshmallows.

Best Things To Do In The Northwest Territories - Canada Road Trip Travel Documentary
In this video, we share some of the best things to do in the Northwest Territories, including Yellowknife, Inuvik, and Tuktoyaktuk!
Welcome to the NWT!
With more than one million square kilometres of land area and a population of less than 50,000, the Northwest Territories is about as wild as it gets. It's certainly not an easy area to visit (many places are fly-in, many roads are gravel, and distances are vast) but for those who make the effort, there are incredible things to experience.
With boreal forest, arctic tundra, some of Canada's greatest waterfalls, a vibrant indigenous culture, and boundless wilderness, this is an adventurers paradise!
We explored the NWT from August 16 - September 1st, 2017!
**
Special Note: We just released the Canada Saver Card, a physical discount card that gets you discounts at a variety of attractions, adventures, and activities across Canada! From helicopter tours to rafting, fishing, museums, and horseback rides, save money on all of them for less than $30! -
