What a grand lady she was and hope they are able to bring her back to life again. Had a 3 minute window of opportunity open up between the rain and took advantage of it to get some 4K footage of it.

The Abandoned Baker Hotel Mineral Wells Texas
Wow, what a neat place. I love touring 100 year old buildings especially old hotels.
It was super hot today 102 at the time of filming. It caused both cameras to overheat, so there were a few clips that didnt take.
Interesting fact is this is the first hotel with an Olympic size indoor pool and the first hotel in Texas with a swimming pool.
It was state of the art at the time with smart rooms way back then that turned on the fans and lights as you enter or left the room.
Another interesting fact about Mineral Wells is that the Hollywood sign is based off the Welcome sign that adorns the hills as you enter town. A producer from Hollywood came out for the mineral baths and seen the sign, told a developer about it and made the Hollywood Hills sign replicating it.
Also along the goodnight loving cattle trail. If you are familiar with the film lonesome dove, that is the trail they follow in the movie.
Stay tuned for more to come on Mineral Wells. There will be a follow up film to this one!

We love history almost as much as we love hiking! This Historic Hotel in downtown Mineral Wells has an abundance of history attached to it. The hotel was built in 1929 and closed in 1972. In the past several years, there have been several attempts at revitalizing the old hotel, but none have yet to come to fruition. This a just a little peek at what you can see from the outside looking in. I would absolutely love to be able to enter the building and see more.... :(. Thanks for watching!!
