Places to see in ( Edinburgh - UK )
Edinburgh is Scotland's compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrood Park with sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and memorials.
Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland and one of its 32 local government council areas. Located in Lothian on the Firth of Forth's southern shore, Edinburgh is Scotland's second most populous city and the seventh most populous in the United Kingdom. Recognised as the capital of Scotland since at least the 15th century, Edinburgh is home to the Scottish Parliament and the seat of the monarchy in Scotland. The city is also the annual venue of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and home to national institutions such as the National Museum of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland and the Scottish National Gallery. It is the largest financial centre in the UK after London.
Historically part of Midlothian, the city has long been a centre of education, particularly in the fields of medicine, Scots law, literature, the sciences and engineering. The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1582 and now one of four in the city, was placed 17th in the QS World University Rankings in 2013 and 2014. The city is also famous for the Edinburgh International Festival and the Fringe, the latter being the world's largest annual international arts festival. The city's historical and cultural attractions have made it the United Kingdom's second most popular tourist destination after London, attracting over one million overseas visitors each year. Historic sites in Edinburgh include Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, the churches of St. Giles, Greyfriars and the Canongate, and the extensive Georgian New Town, built in the 18th century. Edinburgh's Old Town and New Town together are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has been managed by Edinburgh World Heritage since 1999.
Situated in Scotland's Central Belt, Edinburgh lies on the Firth of Forth's southern shore. The city centre is 2 1⁄2 miles (4.0 km) southwest of the shoreline of Leith and 26 miles (42 km) inland, as the crow flies, from the east coast of Scotland and the North Sea at Dunbar.[56] While the early burgh grew up near the prominent Castle Rock, the modern city is often said to be built on seven hills, namely Calton Hill, Corstorphine Hill, Craiglockhart Hill, Braid Hill, Blackford Hill, Arthur's Seat and the Castle Rock
Edinburgh Airport is Scotland's busiest and biggest airport and the principal international gateway to the capital, handling around 11 million passengers in 2015. Travel in Edinburgh is undertaken predominantly by bus. Lothian Buses operate the majority of city bus services within the city and to surrounding suburbs, with the most routes running via Princes Street. Services further afield operate from the Edinburgh Bus Station off St Andrew Square and Waterloo Place and are operated mainly by Stagecoach, Scottish Citylink, National Express Coaches, First Scotland East & Perryman's Buses. Edinburgh Waverley Station is the second-busiest railway station in Scotland, with only Glasgow Central handling more passengers.

The Mitre Bar in Edinburgh, Scotland - Innis & Gunn Lager Beer, Moorhouse's Black Cat Reserve Ale
THE MITRE BAR
131-133 High Street, Edinburgh, City Of Edinburgh, EH1 1SG
INNIS & GUNN LAGER BEER
Inspired by some of the most popular pints in brewing history, our new range pays homage to some legendary beers...Headlining our new Craft Brewed range is our Lager, made in small batches with Naked Golden Oats.
LAGER BEER
4.6% ABV
Our Lager is made in small batches with Naked Golden Oats and great Scottish pride and exuberance, which give it its full flavour and very smooth finish.
Unusually, as well as our own, unique Lager malt, we have added some Naked Golden Oats to the brew, which impart a satisfying smoothness to the finish.
Naked Golden Oats are grown without husks so that even more goodness and flavour can be extracted during brewing.
AVAILABILITY
For now this beer is only available in a tiny handful of establishments in the UK and Canada. Watch this space to find out when it will be making its way to other corners of the globe.
TASTING NOTES
Colour: Pale gold
Smell: Lemon zest, macadamia nuts, sweet biscuity malt
Taste: Crisp and light. Soft, aromatic hops and rich creaminess from the oats
Finish: Smooth and refreshing
MOORHOUSE'S BLACK CAT RESERVE
Moorhouse’s, the Lancashire-based independent brewer is to launch a bewitching special edition of it’s ‘Black Cat’ dark ale (3.4%), a former winner of the coveted CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain. Primarily available as a 4.6% cask beer, there will also be a 7% version with limited cask availability – the latter will also be available in bottles, to be sold exclusively by the Booths supermarket group. Moorhouse’s describe the beer as “An intensely dark beer, Black Cat Reserve conjures deep complex notes of roasted coffee chocolate and mocha, balanced by hints of dark cherry and blackcurrant from the Polish Junga hop’. The Burnley brewer’s link with Halloween is well established – largely due to their award-winning brews with names centred around the story of the witches of Pendle Hill (aka Pendle Witches) near Burnley in Lancashire; Black Cat reserve will join other themed beers including ‘Broomstick Bitter’, ‘Witchhunt’, ‘Black Witch’, ‘Witches Cauldron’, and ‘Witchfinder General’ – continuing the theme of their core beers ‘Blond Witch’, ‘Pendle Witches Brew’ and of course ‘Black Cat’.

All the way up to Edinburgh!
17 January 2019
After a few weeks of working on our assignment to catch up with submission datelines, me and Jaime decided to go Edinburgh together for a “get away” trip, away and out from Stoke-On-Trent.
Day 1 was a tiring and long day trip, as we spend 4-5 hours on the journey to Edinburgh itself, due to the late/delay trains, we are delayed into our trip.
Braid Hills Hotel, Edinburgh is where we stayed throughout the trip.
It was a decent 3-star hotel, not so good (in terms of hygiene) compared to Z-Hotel in London.
Food was decent and expensive, but we liked the interior design, from the hallways to the room, giving that castle aesthetics looks. Simply amazing. We spent (in total) about £160 for 3 nights.
All footages shot on the GoPro Hero 6.
Recorded at 2.7k resolution, 50fps, linear mode.
No external mic used.
Music does not belong to me.
Credits to the music owner.

A walk up Blackford Hill, Edinburgh
It is said that Edinburgh is built on seven hills (like Rome). Actually there are many other hills as cyclists will testify to. The main seven are Blackford, Corstorphine, Arthur's Seat, Calton Hill, Castle Rock, Craiglockhart Hill and the Braid Hills. This is a wee walk up Blackford Hill.
Although Blackford Hill is only 167m high its quite a steep climb to reach the top. Its the home to The Royal Observatory and there are also communication masts situated there. The views are spectacular. There is a 360 degree panorama but the best views are of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's Seat/Salisbury Crags.
This video starts just beyond the car park at Blackford Pond. We walk to the west side of the pond, past the allotments towards the steep steps built from massive planks of timber. This is the quickest way up but is also the hardest. Near the top the observatory comes into view as do many other features such as the Braid Hills and Pentland Hills towards the south. Other landmarks include Craiglockhart Hill with Craiglockhart House (formerly a hospital) where the war poet, Wilfred Owen was treated for shell shock during WW1. The building is now part of Napier University. After taking in the views from the trig point the journey continues down the east side of the hill to rejoin the pond once more.
