History of the Holy Trinity Parish
Holy Trinity parish was founded on August 28, 1897, when the first Divine Liturgy was served in Butte. Thirty-five families, all from the southern regions of the former Yugoslavia, gathered around a visiting Orthodox missionary priest, committed to establishing a parish and building a permanent Orthodox Church. In 1905, their dream, through prayers and self-sacrificial love, turned into a reality. This first church edifice stood until 1964 when it was demolished due to the structural damage caused by underground mining. The construction of the new church was finished in 1965 with the consecration date on July 25. Today, this vibrant Orthodox community has members with various ethnic backgrounds, Serbian, Greek, Irish, Scottish, German, etc. Holy Trinity parish is pan-Orthodox and welcomes everyone seeking the fullness of the Christian faith revealed by Jesus Christ, confirmed by Holy Scripture, preached by the Apostles, and lived victoriously throughout the centuries by countless holy women, men, and children.
God is With Us
The church is oriented toward the East, according to the Apostolic canon: The house of the Lord should be oriented towards the sunrise, with annexes on both sides corresponding to the nave (1, II, 57). The church is entered from the West and the faithful, standing in prayer, face the East -- the altar, the symbol of heaven, spiritual light and Christ -- the Sun of Righteousness -- who shall appear as lightning form the East at His second coming (Matthew 24:27).
The Interior of an Orthodox Church...
It's designed to speak to the worshipper, to establish the mood for worship, to preach the Gospel through architecture and icons, to elevate one's mind and heart to the God one comes to praise and worship. The church edifice has three main parts: the narthex, nave and sanctuary or altar.

Now the war is over, Serbians are celebrating Orthodox Easter with a sense of peace and hope for the future.
With their Easter falling one month after that of other Christian denominations, most Serbians see it as symbolic of a new beginning.
But for post-war Serbia's 550-thousand registered refugees, struggling to make ends meet, the start of a new and better life is still far away.
Since the fall of Communism, the Orthodox Church has had a renaissance in Serbia.
No longer suppressed, Serbians have turned to the church seeking traditional values and observing its religious holidays.
Following the Julian calender, Orthodox Easter falls on April 27th.
Belgraders flocked to the St. Alexander Nevski church to celebrate the holiday - one of rebirth and regeneration.
The church sees itself as one of the leaders of Serbia's regeneration and a unifier of the country following the five-year war in former Yugoslavia, which tore it apart.

Belgraders hurry to market places for the last-minute purchase of eggs which are traditionally painted at home on Good Friday in bright colours of red and green.
However, for Serbia's refugees, Easter is another reminder of the lives they left behind because of the war.
There are 600 refugees at the collective camp of Krnjaca, 10 km from the Serbian capital of Belgrade.
They are among some 550-thousand registered refugees living in Serbia after the war.
Milka, a 39-yr. old refugee from Croatia, remembers bygone days.
Sitting beside her 12-year old daughter Lela, who is suffering from Cerebral Palsy, Milka talks of the difficulties she faces every day to make ends meet and care for her daughter.

Patriarch Pavel, Head of the Serb Orthodox Church, holds the midnight service on Easter Saturday in Belgrade Cathedral.
He leads his congregation around the church, circling it three times, in homage to the Christian Holy Trinity - God, his son Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
The ritual is symbolic of the sufferings of Christ and his resurrection, but it is also an apt analogy for present day Serbia.
Candles are lit both in memory of the deceased and in hope for the living.
For the refugees of Serbia, however, hope is not enough as they try to rebuild their lives amidst an uncertain future.

Exploring Sremski Karlovci town of wine, spirituality and culture |near Novi Sad and Belgrade Serbia
This video is about Sremski Karlovci, the town you can see when you are in Novi Sad or Belgrade or anywhere else near Vojvodina and Serbia. Sremski Karlovci is situated on the bank of the river Danube, 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Novi Sad. We start from Novi Sad, pass through Petrovaradin and explore the center of Sremski Karlovci, the Royal garden, the monastery and more.
In ancient times, a small Roman fortress existed at this location. The town itself was first mentioned in 1308, under the name of Karom. Its Serbian name, Karlovci was first recorded in 1532/3. The town has traditionally been known as the seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Habsburg Monarchy, as well as the political and cultural capital of Serbian Vojvodina after the May Assembly and during the Revolution in 1848.
We start from Novi Sad, pass Petrovaradin old and new town and Petrovaradin fortress. In Sremski Karlovci we start from Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary monastery. The church of the Presentation, commonly called Upper Church due to its position on top of a smaller hill in town, was completed in 1764.
The second stop is the awesome Royal garden. The complex of the Royal Garden is situated in the town, 500 m away from the town center. It is one of the oldest botanical gardens in our country. It consists of two levels: sports and recreational facilities are situated on the upper level and walking lanes in the lower one.
Then, we go to the center and the first building is Karlovci Theological Seminary. Orthodox Theological Seminary in Karlovci was founded in 1794, the second one in the world (Kievan Seminary being the first).
Patriarch's Court is one of the most monumental XIX-century buildings of Vojvodina. It was completed in 1895 and it served as the residence of the Patriarch of Karlovci, and later as the summer residence of the Patriarch of Serbia after the reunification of the Serbian Orthodox Church in 1920. The Court today houses the Museum of Serbian Orthodox Church, and it is also the current residence of the Orthodox bishop of the Eparchy of Srem.
Cathedral Church of Saint Nicholas dedicated to the Translation of Relics of Saint Nicholas (22 May), was erected in 1762. It is considered to be one of the masterpieces of Serbian baroque.
Located right next to the Orthodox Cathedral Church, the Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity was completed in 1768. Its portal is considered to be one of the most beautiful examples of baroque portals in Serbia.
Karlovci High School is the oldest Serbian high school was founded in Karlovci in 1791. The building houses an impressive library with many books of great importance to the history of Serbs in Austria-Hungary.
The Magistrate of Sremski Karlovci (town hall) is one of the most historical buildings in town. It was completed in 1811 in the neo-classicist style, and for most of its history, it served as the seat of the Town and Municipal Assembly.
What you can buy? My suggestion is Bermet wine as here is the only place on the Earth where Bermet wine is produced. It is a traditional desert aromatic wine that has been produced in this region for centuries. At first, it was used as a remedy. However, with the passing of time, due to its exceptional taste, it was made for pleasure as well. Vienna Court was buying Bermet from the local winemakers in advance and at high prices. From the middle of the 19th century, it was being exported regularly, even to America. Bermet is a sweet red wine with a high percentage of alcohol (16% - 17%). However, it is the superb taste that distinguishes this wine from the others. The taste is derived from medicinal herbs, spices and dry fruit that are added to it during the process of production. The Ministry of Agriculture declared Bermet from Fruška Gora as a new protected brand of Serbia in 2007.

Belgrade (Serbian: Београд, Beograd) — meaning 'White City' — is the capital of the Republic of Serbia. Various styles of architecture dominate the city while its recent resurgence as the leading hub in south-eastern Europe makes it a must-see destination.
Kalemegdan - Belgrade Fortress. Once an important military fortification, it now serves as the central park of Belgrade. Accessible from the end of the Knez Mihailova street, it offers beautiful views, especially during sunset. The largest part of is a park, along with the fortress walls, with several cafes, tennis and basketball courts, museums and an observatory. Don't forget to take a look at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, and the statue of Pobednik (Winner), one of the symbols of Belgrade.Take tram number 2 from the railway station and disembark at the 4th stop (Kalemdag)to avoid the walking uphill.
Republic Square (Main Square). Main meeting point in the city (also called kod konja - by the horse), right next to the statue of Mihailo Obrenovic (riding a horse), National Theater, National Museum and Knez Mihailova Street. Best place to arrange a meeting.
The National Assembly of Serbia (Serbian Cyrillic: Народна Скупштина Србије), located across from the Old Royal Palace, at Nikola Pasic Sqaure.
St. Mark's Church (Serbian Cyrillic: Црква Св. Марка) built from 1931 to 1940 is located in Tašmajdan park in Belgrade, near the Parliament of Serbia. It was designed as a copy of the famous Gračanica monastery near Priština. Behind the church, there is the Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, built by White Russian immigrants who came to Serbia after the Russian Revolution of 1917-1922.

Патриа́рх Па́вел (серб. Патријарх Павле, в миру Гойко Стойчевич, серб. Гојко Стојчевић; 11 сентября 1914, деревня Кучанцы, Славония, Австро-Венгрия — 15 ноября 2009, Белград, Сербия) — епископ Сербской Православной Церкви; с 2 декабря 1990 года Архиепископ Печский, Митрополит Белградский-Карловачский, Патриарх Сербский. Был известен своим аскетическим и нестяжательным образом жизни, не имел личного транспорта, отказывался от материальных благ и пожертвований.
В 1941—1942 годах жил в Белграде, работал прорабом по расчистке руин.
Слабое здоровье привело его в Троицкий монастырь на Овчаре, где пережил времена болгарской оккупации. В 1943 году работал в качестве педагога и вероучителя детей беженцев в Бане-Ковиляче. Врачи обнаружили у него туберкулёз, прогноз был пессимистическим. Оттуда он направился в монастырь Вуян в селе Прислоница, где он оставался до 1945 года. В монастыре произошло выздоровление, что побудило его в 1946 году стать послушником. 7 апреля 1948 года он принял монашеский постриг, а вскоре был хиротонисан во иеродиакона.

Согласно одной из легенд, когда один из сановников сербской церкви вопрошал о новом аспиранте Афинского университета, то получил следующий ответ: «Если бы наша Греческая Церковь имела хотя бы пять таких священников, как ваш Павел, то не боялась бы за своё будущее, но была бы самой сильной Церковью в мире».
В ноябре 1990 года решением Священного Архиерейского Собора Сербской Церкви, после восьми кругов неудачного голосования, Павел был избран предстоятелем Церкви на место заболевшего Патриарха Германа. Конверт с его именем вытянул архимандрит Антоний Джорджевич, настоятель монастыря Троноша.
Интронизация патриарха Павла состоялась 2 декабря 1990 года в Соборной церкви в Белграде, а по древней традиции только 2 мая 1994 года на исторический трон печских Патриархов в Печской Патриархии.
Мои силы слабы, вы все это знаете. Я на них не надеюсь. Надеюсь на вашу помощь, говорю и повторяю, на помощь Божью, которой Он меня до сих пор поддерживал. Пусть будет [патриаршество] Богу во славу и на пользу Его Церкви и нашему многострадальному народу в эти тяжелые времена.
Павел стал на момент своего избрания старейшим среди сербских Патриархов, он был избран Патриархом в 76 лет (его преемник, Патриарх Ириней, избран в 79 лет). Посетил все континенты и все епархии Сербской Церкви. На 91-м году жизни ездил в Австралию на две недели. Посетил и большинство Поместных Православных Церквей, а также многие европейские страны и страны других регионов мира.
Патриарх Сербский Павел в течение многих лет был председателем Комиссии Священного Синода по переводу Нового Завета, данный перевод является первым переводом, который был официально утверждён церковью, и опубликован в 1984 году, и переиздавался в 1990-х годах. Кроме того, он был президентом литургической комиссии Священного Синода, которой был подготовлен и издан Служебник на сербском языке.
Во время гражданской войны в Югославии Павел посещал Хорватию и Боснию. Патриарх участвовал в мирном процессе, призывая воюющие стороны к урегулированию конфликта. В 1991 году митрополит Загребский и Люблянский Йован организовывал встречи Павла и католического кардинала Франьо Кухарича. Патриарх Павел встречался также и с президентом Хорватии Франьо Туджманом.
Ввиду плохого состояния его здоровья, открывшийся 15 мая 2008 года в Белграде Архиерейский Собор Сербской Православной Церкви постановил временно передать функции Предстоятеля Священному Синоду во главе с митрополитом Черногорским и Приморским Амфилохием (Радович Ристо).
