Phong Nha - Duck Stop and Farm Stay
This day was so much fun! I rented a bicycle and drove to the Duck Stop, and the Farm Stay in Phong Nha and had an amazing day. For 150.000 VND (5,6 Euro) I could feed the ducks, ride a Buffalo and got food at the end. I definitely had the most fun in the duck cage. They ate from my hands, from my feet, I was the duck leader, and I let fly a duck into the water. To end the day, I went to see the sunset at the Farmstay with a good beer and fresh fruits.

Afternoon cycling in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, Vietnam
After a massive afternoon downpour, I took out the bicycle for a short but breathtaking ride along the Son River. Ended up at the mouth of the Phong Nha cave for sunset.

The Best Things to do in Phong Nha, Vietnam
We definitely left a bit of our hearts in this amazing place when travelling through Vietnam. Our week was jam-packed with activities such as caving until our hearts content (with and without a tour guide) and zip-lining/kayaking/floating around in mud pools. We rode a bloomin' buffalo and topped it all off by receiving a foot massage from 100 excited ducks qualified in foot-tickle therapy. A truly unforgettable 10 days spent in one of our favourite places in Vietnam!

Join me Monday to Friday on this amazing road trip through Vietnam. I aim to create an entertaining piece of content about my travels 5 times per week. Unless literally everything goes wrong, but than still, I'll try to make a video about that! I can be super excited about the simple things in life and I think that life is amazing! By creating these VLOGS I hope to put a smile on your face too every day of the week!
Before motorbiking through Vietnam, I crossed the Pacific Ocean on sailing boats and visited The Unites States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, The Marquesas Islands, Tahiti, The Kingdom Of Niue, Rarotonga, Tonga, Fiji, some other small islands and ended up in New Zealand. In New Zealand I cycled 3.000km from top to bottom. After that I flew to Vietnam to start this motorbike tour. Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi by Motorbike.
See here my planned route:

Day 18- Bong Lai Valley | Phong Nha Biking | My favourite day
Spent the day biking to Bong Lai Valley from our hostel in Phong Nha. Major stops were the Duck Stop (feed the ducks), The Pub With Cold Beer (kill your own chicken), Moi Moi Restaurant (pork cooked in bamboo), wild boar eco farm (we skipped this), the Farmstay (homestay to watch the sunset/swim in the pool)
Hostel- easy tiger

Dong Hoi to Phong Nha 40 km ride – Vietnam Day 24
Woke up at 6.00 a.m. to a view of the ocean from my bed and then went into town to find a great breakfast. Arrived around 7.00 and was the second customer in, by 8.00 it was full of locals and buzzing, nice food/coffee for a good price.
Got on the bike around 9.30 and did the short 40 km ride from Dong Hoi to Phong Nha, I was a little confused as they call the town Son Trach but when I got there everyone seemed to refer to it as Phong Nha.
I was immediately blown away by how beautiful it was, it’s a range of karst mountains, the oldest in Asia at 400 million years old, and my guesthouse was right on the river overlooking the mountains. I took my time to settle in and rode around on my motorbike deciding to do the famous cave tour to Phong Nha Cave the next day. Had a nice jog at 4.00 p.m. down the river to see the locals doing what they do and then chilled on a deckchair by the river deciding to treat myself to an Indian curry. Not the best curry I’ve ever had, but the huge portion was great and the staff were nice.
Turned in early at 8.00 p.m. to be ready for a big day of exploring the next day….
***Big point to note, having a motorbike to tour Vietnam is a massive advantage and great fun. You get to go where to like when you like and getting to new places you can ride around to find the perfect accommodation. I’ve gotten to a few places and had places I’d researched to stay in which turned out to be crap. If I was getting off a bus or train with a backpack, I probably wouldn’t have the energy to search around for places but with the motorbike in half an hour I can ride around a place until I find a perfect spot…
But, caveat to that, I would not ride here if I’d never ridden a bike before. Even with 10 odd years’ experience of riding a bike in Thailand some of the stuff of the road here has scared the life out of me. It can be done as a first-time rider, but, be careful, be very, very, careful.
Phong Nha Farmstay New Video
With a touch of French Colonial style, this Boutique and Unique accommodation opened in 2010 and was the 1st of it’s kind, certainly in Phong Nha, but also Vietnam. Set in idyllic surroundings of rice paddy fields, tended daily by the local community, on the edge of Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, just off the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Immerse yourself in the magic of remote rural Vietnam, between the coast and the mountains. This region of northern Central Vietnam is newly discovered by tourism, mainly due to the discovery of spectacular caves in the area. Take yourself on a trip into a photographer’s paradise and what is fast becoming, the adventure capital of the country.
