Tulsa County Emergency Sirens - Nuclear Attacks. Three minute wavering tone.
Tulsa County, Oklahoma. Emergency Sirens
What do sirens tell you?
Being prepared when disaster strikes can help save lives and property, prevent injury and decrease recovery costs.
Knowing what the City's warning sirens are telling you is part of being prepared for emergencies. Understanding the three siren tones can help you take the right action to protect yourself and those around you.
There are more than 80 in the city, each audible for up to a mile.
Tulsa's sirens use tones that warn citizens about tornadoes, military attacks and about chemical releases into the atmosphere.
There is an additional warning that is unique to this community. It is a flood warning tone which is not a part of the federal guidelines for siren warning systems.
~ Second is the three-minute wavering tone - similar to the wailing sound made by many police and fire vehicles on emergency missions. That tone is used only to warn of nuclear attacks.
Sirens are only a part of Tulsa's warning systems and are intended to warn people who are out of doors about impending dangers.
The warning system also includes local news media, NOAA Weather Radios and even some local wireless phone and pager services.
Testing
Tulsa's warning sirens are audibly tested each Wednesday at noon, weather permitting, as well as being silently tested daily. On occasion, technicians may test individual sirens at random times. Tests are typically one minute in length. Actual warnings are three-minute signals.

Suspect Drops 30 Feet Off Overpass (Damico Taylor) | Body Cam | United States | 20190430
Body camera video from the Tulsa Police Department of the pursuit and arrest of Damico Taylor.
[1:00] Incident Occurs
Location: Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, United States
Date: April 30, 2019 (Tuesday)
Tulsa Police Department:
Suspect falls 30 feet after pursuit
On April 30th, at about 10:30 a.m., we received a call about a suspect who had shot at someone in the area of 31st and Sheridan. We later determined that the suspect was Damico Taylor.
The victim told us the suspect pulled alongside his car and revved his engine as if he wanted to race and that when he did not do so, the suspect pointed a pistol at him. The victim slammed on his brakes, and he said he heard a “pop” that sounded like a gunshot as the other car pulled ahead.
An officer saw the car Taylor was driving in the 200 block of South Sheridan Road, and he followed it onto Interstate 244 westbound while waiting for backing officers.
Taylor apparently became suspicious when he saw more police cars begin to follow him, and he quickly accelerated. Less than a minute after officers initiated a pursuit, Taylor swerved around another vehicle and crashed into a concrete barrier on the north leg of the IDL.
Taylor hopped out of the car and jumped over the outer barrier he lost his grip and fell more than 30 feet.
Taylor was taken to a hospital and admitted in stable condition with a skull fracture and other injuries.
We found a loaded .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol in the vehicle Taylor was driving. The vehicle, which is likely a total loss, belonged to his ex-girlfriend. She had thought Taylor was taking the car for an oil change.

4000iENT Black Wall Street Little Africa Kingz United Maintain Unity GreenBoXx
@qweety4000 KingzUnited QueenzUnited RIOCI CHB GMC GreenBoXx Greenwood Black Wall Street is a neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As one of the most successful and wealthiest African American communities in the United States during the early 20th Century, it was popularly known as America's Black Wall Street until the Tulsa race riot of 1921, in which white residents massacred black residents and razed the neighborhood within hours. The riot was one of the most devastating massacres in the history of U.S. race relations, destroying the once thriving Greenwood community. Within five years after the massacre, surviving residents who chose to remain in Tulsa rebuilt much of the district. They accomplished this despite the opposition of many white Tulsa political and business leaders and punitive rezoning laws enacted to prevent reconstruction. It resumed being a vital black community until segregation was overturned by the Federal Government during the 1950s and 1960s. Desegregation encouraged blacks to live and shop elsewhere in the city, causing Greenwood to lose much of its original vitality. Since then, city leaders have attempted to encourage other economic development activity nearby. Many Black Americans moved to Oklahoma in the years before and after 1907, which is the year Oklahoma became a state. Oklahoma represented change and provided a chance for black Americans to get away from slavery and the harsh racism of their previous homes.[1] Most of them traveled from other states in the south where racism was very prevalent, and Oklahoma offered hope and provided all people with a chance to start over. They traveled to Oklahoma by wagons, horses, trains, and even on foot.
Many of the black Americans who traveled to Oklahoma had ancestors who could be traced back to Oklahoma. A lot of the settlers were relatives of black Americans who had traveled on foot with the Five Civilized Tribes along the Trail of Tears. Others were the descendants of people who had fled to Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma) in an effort to escape lives of oppression in the South. Many Blacks were also from the various Muskogee speaking peoples, such Creeks, Seminoles, and the Yuchi, while some had been adopted by the tribe after the Emancipation Proclamation. They were thus able to live freely in the Oklahoma Territory.[2]
When Tulsa became a booming and rather well noted town in the United States, the residents and government attempted to leave out important aspects of the city. Many people considered Tulsa to be two separate cities rather than one city of united communities. The white residents of Tulsa referred to the area north of the Frisco railroad tracks as “Little Africa” and other derogatory names. This community later acquired the name Greenwood and by 1921 it was home to about 10,000 black American men, women, and children.[1]
Greenwood was centered on a street known as Greenwood Avenue. This street was important because it ran north for over a mile from the Frisco Railroad yards, and it was one of the few streets that did not cross through both black and white neighborhoods. The citizens of Greenwood took pride in this fact because it was something they had all to themselves and did not have to share with the white community of Tulsa. Greenwood Avenue was home to the black American commercial district with many red brick buildings. These buildings belonged to black Americans and they were thriving businesses, including grocery stores, banks, libraries, and much more. Greenwood was one of the most affluent communities and it became known as “Black Wall Street.”
