The Thai - Laos Friendship Bridge Border Crossing from the Laos capital city of Vientiane to the northern Thai town of Nong Khai is far easier than we prepared ourselves for. Our video details step-by-step where, when, how, and how to cross, detailing all transportation fees along the way.
We began our longest travel day(s) so far in Vang Vieng, Laos, taking a tourist bus 5 hours south to Vientiane. We are glad to have seen the capital city, but didn’t need any longer there as city highlights are few, and were happy to move on across the Thai border the following day. If you decide to cross from Laos into Thailand by land, head to the Talat Sao Bus Terminal, get on Bus #14 to the border, head through border patrol, and take the first bus across the Friendship Bridge into the Thai border town of Nong Khai. EASY!

LAOS BORDER: The Thai-Lao friendship bridge is the first bridge to have ever been built over the Mekong river between Laos and Thailand border.
The bridge was opened on April 8th, 1994, which was a gift from the Australian Government and approximately cost $42 Million AUD.
The bridge connects Vientiane Prefecture in Laos to Nongkhai Province in Thailand.

I needed to get from the Bus Station in Nong Khai to The Friendship Bridge to cross over the Border into Laos.
A really great way is to Travel By Isan Tuk Tuk or the Sky Lab.
Loud, noisy,bumpy but what fun !
Worth every single Baht, it'll cost about 80 Baht !

Thai-Laos Border Crossing Guide | Nongkhai-Thanaleng Border
This is a short Guide for Nongkhai- Thanaleng Border Crossing. It happens on 20th October 2019.
#ride2vietnam
1) Approaching Nongkhai Customs Boundary Post, park your bike one side.
2) Go to the Customs counter to submit and return your Customs Temporary Import/Export form.
3) Que at the Immigration Counter to get your EXIT stamp.
4) Return your TM2 form here
5) Pay THB100
6) Move off over the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge to Laos. Remember its left-hand drive from here onwards
7) Park your bike one side when you reach Thanaleng Border Crossing
8) Go to Customs to fill up papers and pay THB100
9) Get your passport stamp with ENTRY chop at Immigration Counter. Show your letter from Laos Embassy here
10) Pay fees of 35,000 Lao Kip or THB120 equivalent at machine near immigration counter
11) You are cleared to enter Laos.
