Great Smoky Mountain Wheel Pigeon Forge TN
A Ferris Wheel attraction, part of the Island at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Places to see in ( Pigeon Forge - USA )
Pigeon Forge, a mountain town and vacation area in eastern Tennessee, is the home of Dollywood, country singer Dolly Parton’s Appalachian-themed park consisting of rides, an adjoining water park and a museum of her costumes and memorabilia. The city’s other attractions include country music revues like the Smoky Mountain Opry, dinner theaters such as Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede and outlet malls.
You can step aboard the Titanic, ogle OJ Simpson's white Ford Bronco, ride a 200ft-high Ferris wheel and plunge toward the earth on America's first 'wing coaster' in Pigeon Forge, a sprawling cacophony of excess and traffic burning bright in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains. With liquor by the drink available since 2013, the city has also loosened up a bit at night. Pigeon Forge is named in part for the Little Pigeon River, which flows through the action. Its banks were once a roosting spot for passenger pigeons – now extinct. Best known today as the home of Dollywood, Dolly Parton's namesake theme park, the city is packed tight with hotels, restaurants and family-friendly attractions, most of them lining Parkway, the main thoroughfare. Pigeon Forge is just 8 miles from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but traffic and stoplights can make that 8 miles seem a mighty long way.
The West Fork of the Little Pigeon River flows north from its source high on the slopes of Mount Collins through Sevier County before linking up with the Middle Fork in Sevierville. Pigeon Forge occupies a narrow valley along this river between Sevierville and Gatlinburg. High ridges surround Pigeon Forge on three sides, with Pine Mountain to the west, Shields Mountain to the east, and Cove Mountain to the south. A bend in the Little Pigeon provides the city's northern border with Sevierville, and a narrow gorge cut by the river between Cove Mountain and Shields Mountain acts as the city's boundary with Gatlinburg.

Rides at the Island in Pigeon Forge - Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
Random video clips of the rides at the Island in Pigeon Forge in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, United States.
The Island was a quick in and out credit run... After waiting out a massive thunderstorm. Not much going on for me, but the place was oddly busy. wouldn't have been against a ride on the Wheel, had I not been a solo traveler and also been wanting to start my drive from Pigeon Forge all the way to Sandusky (via another coaster stop in Lexington) ha.
Rides shown in order - Entrance sign, Twist ‘N’ Shout (SBF), Spinning Parrot (SBF), The Island Show Fountain, Reverse Time (SBF), The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, The Island Express, Overview

The Great Smoky Mountains of Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg Tennessee Summer 2019 Getaway – 4k
It’s hard to believe summer is winding down, but we took this years adventure to the next level.
Our 2019 getaway started with a breathtaking scenic 600 feet chondola ride up the summit of Anakeesta Mountain where we entered the beautiful firefly village. Its there we discovered there was magic in the mountain.
It was awesome!
We strolled the botanical Vista Gardens featuring 1,700 feet of walking garden trails filled with a variety of flowers, plants, and sculptures. The young-uns with no fear of heights chose to slowly walk across the 800 feet of connected treetop bridges at 60 feet above the forest floor.
We couldn’t pass on the only single-rail mountain coaster in the United States and took on the 25 mph exhilarating downhill Rail Runner with over 1,600 feet of twists and turns like champions. Nope, we skipped rappelling the 3,500 feet of Dueling Zip-lines soaring 125 feet above the ground. Been there done that and a lot more.
We did it all, starting with outlet mall shopping, the island at pigeon forge, dude’s daiquiris, the great smoky mountain wheel, margaretville, arcade city, mellow mushroom, battleground tactical laser tag, miniature golf, race carts, the island mirror maze, island bumper cars, the island creamery, reverse time, the spinning parrots coaster, dick’s last resort and more.
We had to check out Huck Finn’s Catfish Restaurant where you eat until you split a seam or pop your buttons. Those vittles bro, coleslaw, white beans, and southern hushpuppies and fried chicken.
“Well butter my butt & call me a biscuit.”
Where will our next adventure take us?
