My journey from Dublin to Howth on a train. Just a wonderful train ride and a lovely little fishing village. If your ever in Dublin you should take this trip. only 25 minute ride.
Dart services on the Howth Branch
A video of the regular passenger service that runs each day of the week on the Howth Branch. In this video I filmed at every single possible spot that you can view trains from on the entire length of the Howth Branch all the way from Howth Junction to Howth. The line is three miles long and is one of Dublin's busiest lines, built in 1847 the line serves Howth Junction, Bayside, Sutton & Howth.
Of course there was different types of Dart units that appeared in the video, those were 8100 /8300's, 8520's, 8510's & 8500's. The 8100 / 8300 showed up much more often than the rest so most of the video features them.
Here are all of the locations featured in this video, bear in mind that these are every available spot to film from on the line.

*VERY RARE* retro liveried 071's first visit to the Howth Branch & IE 088 with the Sperry train.
On Thursday the 9th / Friday the 10th of March 2017, a very rare occurrence happened on the Howth Branch. Retro liveried 071 class locomotive number 071 made it's very first to Howth in it's new retro CIE livery while it was doing the annual Sperry train. IE 088 was the other engine that was on the Howth Branch. What was interesting about this run was that we had the first 071 built on the line which is obviously 071, and then we had the last member of the 071 class to be built on the line to be built which was 088.
The first shot is at Baldoyle Road crossing where we see retro 071 passing with the 23.30 North Wall - Howth Sperry which was bang to time.
After that I hightailed it to Claremont Road crossing where we see IE 071 class loco number 088 passing light engine to collect the Sperry.
We then see 088 coupling up to the Sperry in Howth Station and then after that it's back to Claremont Road crossing where we see 088 passing with the early running Sperry back to North Wall, it left Howth 5 mins early at 00.20 instead of the booked time at 00.25.
I then make my way to Sutton Station where we see 071 passing through light engine as it makes it's way back to North Wall.

Aggravated Burglary, Howth, Dublin on the 13/12/13
Gardaí in Howth are investigating an aggravated burglary that took place at Casana View last December the 13th, at about 9.15am.
Two men knocked on the door of a house in Howth, County Dublin. Inside a woman was with her eight-year-old daughter, who was home from school sick.
When the woman opened the door, two men forced their way in. Two more of the gang who had been hiding at the back of the house also barged in.
The gang of four tied up the woman and her eight-year-old daughter, threatened them with a crowbar and demanded money. They spent around 20 minutes in the house. They took substantial amount of money and jewellery.
They made their getaway in the family car, a 07 Honda CRV, which was later found abandoned in a car park at the harbour in Howth. The raiders told the mother and child that they had broken in to all the houses on the road and tied up the occupants. In fear for her child and her neighbours' safety the mother managed to free herself and raise the alarm.

''Very Rare'' - Inspection Car No. 723 @ Sutton & Howth Lodge, Co. Dublin
An extremely RARE sighting of Inspection Car number 723 on the Howth Branch. Every so often Irish Rail sends out one of their inspection car onto the Howth Branch for assessment of the tracks condition. This does not happen very often at all so to see this on the branch was really a rare sight.
We start off in my local train station at Sutton where we see a four piece 8100 / 8300 Dart leaving Sutton while heading to Bray.
After that Dart cleared off we inspection car number 723 passing through Sutton Station while on its way to Howth.
Then I absolutely rallied the bike up to Howth Lodge with just 2 minutes to spare, where we see inspection car number 723 passing Howth Lodge while heading back to North Wall
Apologize about the poor weather conditions in the video, you may blame the Irish weather for that.
All footage was taken on Wednesday the 29th of April 2015.

*VERY RARE* - IE 075 & 077 working the Sperry Train on the Howth Branch
On Wednesday the 7th / Thursday the 8th of September 2016, Irish Rail's Sperry train makes its annual visit to the Howth Branch.
To start off our night out we head to Lauder's Lane / Burrow Road level crossing where we see IE 071 class No. 075 working the 23.30 North Wall Howth Sperry.
After that we head to Howth Station where we see the Sperry on platform 2 in the station. After a couple of photos we then head to Claremont Road level crossing where we see the delayed 23.45 Connolly to Howth light engine.
Now in the very early hours of Thursday Morning we head to a totally deserted Sutton Station where we see the late running 00.25 Howth to North Wall Sperry with IE 077 in charge, this movement didn't leave Howth until 01.00, it was 35 minutes late. After the Sperry passed we see IE 071 class locomotive No.. 075 passing Sutton as it makes its way back to Connolly.

Howth Branch 170 years anniversary tour with steam loco's 461 & 85 'Merlin' - 28/05/2017
On Sunday the 28th of May 2017, the railway between Howth Junction and Howth, or better known as the Howth Branch celebrated 170 years of operation. The line was opened in May of 1847, it is a three mile long branch line that was built to serve the major town of Howth. And now, 170 years later it's still doing that same purpose although a lot has changed since then.
So to celebrate this major milestone the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland (RPSI) ran three return trips between Connolly and Howth. They used their K2 class steam loco number 461 for the first two runs.
But the third trip was a very special and historic moment. steam loco number 85 'Merlin' was to work the last run to Howth, and when it came onto the line it was the very first time in all of it's entire life to ever visit the Howth Branch, this was truly a very historic moment in railway history, so I was absolutely privileged to be a part of that moment.
Anyways to kick off the first leg we visit Bayside Station, Bayside is actually the youngest station on the line, it was opened on the 11th of June 1973. Here we see K2 class steam locomotive number 461 passing through with the delayed 10.30 Connolly - Howth run. Not far behind the tour was Irish Rail 071 class loco number 088 running light engine to take over the tour in Howth. 00:00 - 02:23.
Next up was Sutton station, this station is the oldest station on the line, it was opened on 30th of July 1846. Here we see IE 071 class loco number 088 taking the Craven Coaches back to Connolly. Not far behind the tour was K2 class steam loco number 461 returning to Connolly light engine. 02:23 - 04:54.
The next location I visited was Burrow Road / Claremont Road. What I love about this stretch of line is that the road and the railway run parallel to each other for a mile. Anyways here we see 461 passing with the second run of the day and not far behind was 088 light engine which was to take over the return trip back to Connolly. 04:54 - 06:01.
The next location I went to was to my local level crossing where we see 088 taking the Cravens back to Connolly, not far behind was 461 following the tour light engine. 06:01 - 07:01.
The next shot is possibly one of the most historic clips I have ever taken, here we see 85 'Merlin' passing through Sutton for the very first time in it's entire existence, not far behind was 088 following the tour to Howth light engine. 07:01 - 08:45.
Next we visit our last location on the line which was Howth Lodge, personally I think this is one of the best spots on the line for shots. Anyways here we see 088 roaring past with the last trip of the day back to Connolly. And lastly we see 85 'Merlin' heading back to Connolly light engine after making a very historic visit to the Howth Branch. 08:45 - 11:04.

IRRS Diesel Railtour to Howth & Sligo - Saturday the 12th of August 2017
On Saturday the 12th of August 2017, the Irish Railway Record Society (IRRS) ran a diesel railtour from Connolly to Howth, then to Sligo and back to Connolly. This was also the second tour this year to visit the Howth Branch with the last one back in May 2017 when the Howth 170 took place.
We start off at Sutton Station where we IE 071 class loco number 075 arriving into Sutton on a very brief photo stop while working the Connolly - Howth leg of the tour.
Next after cycling like a mad man I get ahead of it to Lauder's Lane Crossing where we see 075 roaring past with the IRRS tour to Howth. I do apologize about the slightly bad audio, at the time the camera was in the wrong sound setting but has now been rectified since.
Next at the same location we see a very rare sight, Enterprise 201 class loco number 227 makes a very rare trip to Howth to collect the tour. 227 became the very first Enterprise locomotive to travel along the Howth Branch and it was also only the third time a 201 has been on the line, the last time being back in March 2012 for the Spare Link Railtour.
Next we visit Howth Lodge where we see Enterprise loco number 227 passing as it heads back to Connolly with the IRRS tour.
After that we head to Connolly where IE 071 class loco number 085 takes over and departs with the Connolly - Sligo leg of the tour.
Later on that Evening we head to Clonliffe Avenue where we 085 passing with the IRRS tour back to Connolly.
