When my wife and I travel, we usually like to rent local apartments / houses to stay in rather than hotels - especially since we have a baby it makes it easier. But additionally, it also allows you to stay in a local neighborhood where you can experience the normal everyday life in a country.
In this video, we just set off on a walk around the Munich neighborhood that were staying in. First we needed to get a few groceries from the supermarket, then we continued walking to the local parks (by the way, there are some truly beautiful parks in Munich and green spaces), then we continued walking to a little farmers market, and on finally to a local beer garden which Munich is so famous for.

Munich is a beautiful city and in this video I’m taking you on a German food tour and we also visited some of the famous attractions and sights in Munich.
Cafe Frischhut - This is a legendary cafe in Munich, known for serving schmalznudel, a savory type of German donu. I thought it was alright, but not must-eat. Total price for 3 people - 16 EUR
Viktualienmarkt Munich - This is one of the best German street food markets in Munich, with plenty of street food stalls to choose from. I tried a classic Bavarian white sausage and pretzel (Weisswurst 5.90 EUR) and leberkässemmel, which is a classic meat loaf sandwich (2.99 EUR). Viktualienmarkt Munich is one of the best places to visit as a food lover in Munich, Germany.
St. Peter's Church - We then took a walk in St. Peter’s Church, one of the most recognized churches in Munich.
Marienplatz - This is the main center of Munich, and the architecture is stunning.
Hofbräuhaus - If you ask where to eat in Munich, this will no doubt be the number one suggestion, it’s an institution in Munich. It really is an amazing culinary piece of history, a giant beer and food hall where you can eat and drink and fully embrace German food and culture. Total price for 3 people - 64.50 EUR
English Garden (Englischer Garten) - I didn’t know what to expect visiting Munich’s English Garden, but it turned out to be one of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever seen. We stopped to watch the Eisbach Wave, a place in the canal where there’s rushing water and people take turns surfing the waves.
Chinesischer Turm Beer Garden - Finally to end the day we headed over to Chinesischer Turm, probably the most well known of all beer gardens in Munich. It’s a great place to hand out, eat and drink. Total price for 3 people - 45 EUR

On this trip to Munich, Germany, rather than staying in a hotel, we decided to rent an Airbnb apartment in a local neighborhood in Munich. The prices are not cheap in Germany, but I think in comparison to what you get for a hotel room, it's still a very good value. I was with my wife, my wife's sister, and our baby Micah.
In this Munich apartment tour, I walk you through the apartment. It's just a 1 bedroom apartment, but it's really spacious and would be very comfortable living for a single or couple.
One thing I love most about living in Germany or renting an apartment in Munich / Germany, is that German design and the awareness of natural light in the house. During the day, you don't need to use any electricity for lighting.

Munich - Summer in the Bavarian City | Discover Germany
Whether you're a local or a visitor, summer in Munich is all about the beer gardens. The 200 year-old tradition is as typically Bavarian as Weisswurst and Lederhosen are. The very best spot to look down on Munich is from the top of the Frauenkirche Church. For Science and Technology fans, the German Museum is not to be missed. It's the biggest of its kind in the world.

The oldest parish church in the city, situated nearby Marienplatz. After climbing 299 steps to the top, you get rewarded with panoramic view over Munich. Admission for adults: 3€.
00:09 Allianz Arena is home to football to the giant FC Bayern München and the not-so-giant TSV 1860 München. The (some might say: only) advantage of watching games of the latter: You can get tickets without being a club member. Get there by subway U6 (Fröttmaning)
00:10 Museum Brandhorst (Theresienstrasse 35a)
One of the city’s best museums of contemporary art, and situated in Munich’s art quarter next to the famous three art galleries Alte Pinakothek, Neue Pinakothek and Pinakothek der Moderne.

The gorgeous Hofgarten is one of the nicest parks in Munich, situated next to The Residenz, which is the former city castle of the Bavarian dukes, princes and emperors.

The so-called Glockenspiel takes place in the tower balcony of the Neues Rathaus daily at 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. Figurines dance stories from Munich’s history in slow-motion. Not everyone gets their charm. We certainly don’t. But you might.

The oldest indoor swimming pool of Munich is also ist prettiest. Swimming in this art nouveau building from 1901 is an otherworldly experience. It is open daily from 7:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. Admission for adults: 4,40 €. Unfortunately, there is no English website to date.
00:22 Monopteros (Englischer Garten)
The Monopteros is a lovely little temple with a view, in the heart of the Englischer Garten (English Garden) next to the Chinese Tower.
00:25 River Isar (from Icking to Thalkirchen)
Paddling your way from Icking or even Wolfratshausen. It’s a fun 6-8 hour-trip on the river Isar. Buy your own boat or rent one here, for example: But make sure to check that there is no high tide or other warnings (floating refuse) before you go.
00:27 Flaucher (District: Sendling)
Grab some steaks and sausages and take the U3 to Thalkirchen to have a lazy barbecue. It’s only permitted in that area. But beware: On weekends it gets unbearably crowded. Aim for the southernmost point to.
00:34 Chinese Tower (Englischer Garden)
You don’t visit the Chinese Tower for itself but for the beer garden. It is situated in the heart of the Englischer Garten and one of the best beer gardens in the city with a mix of locals and tourists.

This hidden gem of a beer garden is situated in the northern part of the Englischer Garten and popular with people who take a rest from walking their dogs.

This lovely little café sells beer, coffee, cakes and other delicacies, right next to the Eisbach Wave.
00:41 Augustiner Keller (Arnulfstrasse 52)
One of the biggest beer gardens of the city, and one of the prettiest. It's in walking distance to the central station.
00:42 Odeonsplatz is the northern gateway to the Old Town, situated next to The Residenz. Take a MVG Bike to explore the city. It's set up by the local traffic company MVG and takes only the App MVG more to rent it.
00:51 The Eisbach runs through the Englischer Garten. One fun thing to do is to float down the little river until Tram station „Paradiesstrasse“, hop on back to „Prinzregentenstraße“ and do it again. Don’t be surprised: You are passing a famous little FKK area (Germans „Free Body Culture“).
00:53 The Eisbachwelle is world-famous for its city surfers who seem to be surfing the river wave 24/7.
00:56 Weisses Bräuhaus (Tal)
The typical Bavarian breweries offers a wide range of Schneider Weisse wheat beer. Dishes like “Bavarian peasant’s feast” or “Our Butcher’s Platter” can hardly be finished and start at 14€.

The Viktualienmarkt is one of the loveliest spots on a Saturday morning in Munich. Have a breakfast “Munich style” with white sausages, sweet mustard and a wheat beer and enjoy watching merchants, locals and tourists on the Viktualienmarkt.
01:02 Hackerbrücke (district: Ludwigsvorstadt)
One of the rare spots in Munich, the “biggest village of Germany”, that has some kind of metropolis flair. And a wonderful place to watch the sunset.

Follow us on our very brief tour of Munich City Centre, as we have under 5 hours to spare whilst waiting for our connecting flight to Wroclaw, Poland.
We managed to squeeze in lunch at a local restaurant. This was strongly recommended by some friends we met online. The food was really delicious. We enjoyed the entire dining experience very much.

Hong Kong Street Food Tour — Roasted Meat and Amazing Dai Pai Dong Experience!

On Day 38 of our Round The World Trip for Food with Star Alliance, I wanted to make it a full on Hong Kong street food tour. We first started with some amazing Hong Kong roast meat, then had lunch at a legendary Hong Kong dai pai dong street food stall, and then continued on to a local Hong Kong dai pai dong for dinner.
00:50 Kwan Yu Roasted Meat (君御燒味) - Starting off the morning, we first ate at Kwan Yu Roasted Meat (君御燒味), a small and friendly Cantonese roasted meat restaurant. I ordered roast pork, char siu, and also got a soy sauce pigeon on the side. Everything was good, but the soy sauce pigeon, a local Hong Kong delicacy, was the best. Nothing like starting off a Hong Kong food tour with some roasted meats! Total price - 81 HKD ($10.44)
What is a dai pai dong? A dai pai dong officially means a restaurant with a big license plate, but it refers to usually open air cooked food stalls, or Hong Kong street food stalls.
7:20 Sing Kee (盛記) - One of the legendary Hong Kong street food dai pai dong’s located right in the heart of Hong Kong central is Sing Kee (盛記). They serve all sorts of stir fried dishes that you order to make. I ordered a plate of sweet and sour pork ribs, chicken with ginger and spring onion, and clams in black bean sauce. The street food stall has an amazing atmosphere, slotted between sky rise buildings within an alley. The chef was pretty friendly, and when I was taking photos, he offered me a taste test of the sweet and sour ribs, right out of the wok. Sing Kee (盛記) is an amazing Hong Kong street food stall to eat at when you’re in Hong Kong. Total price - 169 HKD ($21.79)
13:27 Chan Kun Kee (陳根記) dai pai dong (Thank you to: for this recommendation) - Finally for dinner, I decided we needed to take a little food mission to Fo Tan Station, Wo Che Estate, Sha Tin, Hong Kong, in search of a properly local Hong Kong dai pai dong experience. The restaurant was tucked back into a neighborhood, far removed from the everyday hustle of Hong Kong. Yet in the midst of the condos, there it was, Chan Kun Kee (陳根記), an incredibly huge open air restaurant serving all things Cantonese food. I ordered the drunken chicken, fried fish, mantis shrimp, and a spicy fish pot. The food was awesome, and the loud and hectic Hong Kong environment was perfect. This was a stop on today’s Hong Kong food tour that was well worth getting off the eaten path for. Total price - 402 HKD ($51.83)
It was an amazing day of eating Hong Kong street food on this food tour. I don’t think I can choose a favorite meal or dish of the day, they were all so delicious!

One of the best things to do in Munich is to visit the iconic Frauenkirche Church. Comprising of twin towers, this church has a historic significance as it dates back to the 15th century.
Besides being the epitome of architecture and history, it is also the city’s largest church. Inside the church, there is a mysterious footstep called the Devil’s footstep, and the top of the towers offer spectacular views of Munich’s beautiful landscape. So, there’s a lot to see at this place that will definitely soothe your mind & soul!
One of the top things to do in Munich, Germany is to visit the Residence Palace, which was formerly the home of various Bavarian rulers and emperors.
Apart from museums that offer an insight into the history from the renaissance to neoclassicism, this palace includes 130 rooms that possess antiques. Take a visit to this largest palace in Germany and feel like royalty!
