KUTA LOMBOK - Perfect location for walking around town and waking up to the sound of birds in the trees was so special.

SEKOTONG - best area to stay to visit the secret southern Gili islands. This place had a private beach and easy to get private boat tours to the islands.
MATARAM - a super cheap room in the heart of the city so it's easy to get GoJek and they have parking for cars and bikes. It's surprisingly quiet inside and the staff are very nice and helpful.

Lombok Indonesia Travel Guide During Low Season (Mataram, Rinjani, Selong Belanak and Tanjung Aan)
Lombok is awesome! They say it is the new Bali. I am not really sure what to think about it, but what I can tell you: visit Lombok for sure! The food is awesome, the people are super open and friendly, the beaches are beautiful and the surf is the sh*t. So how to travel Lombok and what to do on Lombok? I will give you some answers in this video about Lombok/Indonesia!
Accommodation:
Ibludan Hotel (one of the greatest places we ever stayed at):
- between Mataram and Senggigi Beach!
- also, Kuta is supposed to be awesome! Check out Kuta and stay here for a while. It is a town of surfers and lost Australians.
What to see on Lombok?
- Hike on the Gunung Rinjani: check the time schedules as hikes are not allowed between November and March
- Kuta: Bali many years ago
- Beaches: Selong Belanak and Tanjung Aan
- Eastern Lombok: pink beach and magic island
- South-West: more Gili islands
-Visit Mataram (the capital of Lombok)
- Ogoh-Ogoh festival: an awesome experience where they build huge demons and burn them during the night
How to get around?
- when you fly to Lombok, take the DAMRI buses from the airport to the place you want to go. The buses are cheap and easy to take.
- to get around on Lombok you can take the Bluebird taxis (best option), Bemo (public buses) or private drivers.
- other apps to get around (like UBER): Grab and GoCar

Lombok Paradise Island The Best Things To See And Do
Almost everyone has heard of Bali in Indonesia, but did you know that Lombok is also an amazing tropical island right next door? There are a few differences, one being that it's much less crowded than Bali, and feels like it's back in time 20 years. But there's still a lot to see and explore in Lombok. We stayed at Selong Selo resort and residences thanks to Elite Havens and privileged to receive their VIP concierge service which makes travelling so much easier. I recommend it! Selong Selo is a new luxury resort style place with many individual villas. It's still very new and they were still building more amazing villas at the time this video was posted. The view and location is absolutely amazing and in proximity to a pristine white sand tropical beach you can only dream of. There's a lot to do in Lombok, we only scratched the surface, I'llshow you more in the next two vlogs. In this episode we also visited Kuta market, the Sasak Sade village which is a traditional Lombok village with quite unusual traditions and walked through the Belanak beach fishing village. Two weeks in beautiful Lombok, Indonesia. We explored the south coast based in Kuta and Gerupuk where we both surfed our brains out before venturing north to climb Mt Rinjani and explore the Gili islands.
The day we left Lombok experienced the first of many earthquakes to hit them over the next few months.The people were so beautiful and we hope this video inspires any of you to go and visit them and help rebuild their beautiful island home with the help of tourism.
Why You Need This, Lombok The Secret Paradise Island
Part two of our Lombok food journey collaboration with Elite Havens. We arrived at Mataram City in Lombok for an authentic Indonesian lunch. We then traveled North West through a monkey forest and arrived at an amazing six acre coconut palm villa called Sira beach, and yes it’s beach front, what a dream! The villa Chefs cooked us amazing local and Indonesian food. We then walked right next door to villa Sepoi Sepoi for another amazing experience. Our Chef cooked us Ayam Taliwang, a delicious spicy BBQ chicken Lombok style. We then toured the local village to see the Lombok earthquake aftermath and the rebuilding of houses thanks to generous donations. Our Chef cooked us coconut pandam pancakes and we had the most amazing sunset BBQ on the beach. Lombok is a true island paradise and it’s still a secret.

In this episode we go to Lombok in Indonesia, Bali’s neighbour. This island has so much to offer from its empty and beautiful beaches to breath taking waterfalls and vast jungle. It’s home to Mt Rinjani, Indonesia’s second largest active volcano, and is a great place for surfing, snorkelling and scuba diving. It is the real tropical paradise and with hardly any tourists, you’ll never want to leave! (and it's a lot better than Bali)

Kuta Lombok, Indonesia, is a very popular travel destination and is home to Mahun, Mawi and Selong Belanak beach! It is ideal for sufers as it has a laid back atmosphere, good weather, is easily reachable and offers good waves both for beginner and more advanced surfers. We arrived by fast boat from the Gili Islands via the ferry port Bangsal, but you can also arrive by plane from Bali. We decided to check out the best and most beautiful beaches on the west side of Kuta Lombok: Mahun beach, Mawi Beach and Selong Belanak beach. As transport in the area if farely expensive, renting a motorbike is one of the best things to do in Lombok, so that’s what we did. Check out the video to see what your favourite beach would be! Also stay tuned for the next vlog, as we’ll be searching for one of the must sees of Lombok: the pink sand beach!

Dazu ein Affenwald, der Vulkan/Berg Mount Rinjani, viel indonesisches Essen, Ausflüge zu den Gili Inseln oder nach Komodo zu den Komodo Waranen und und und...

Es war sauber, ordentlich, es gab eine tolle Außendusche und die Besitzer waren super nett und hilfsereit.
Als Veganer haben wir es auf Lombok nicht all zu einfach gehabt, aber verhungert sind wir auch nicht :)
Oftmals gab es eine Sprachbarriere, da Englisch nicht so gut verstanden wurde.
Mit diesem Buch konnten wir uns jedoch immer gut verständigen:

Von unserer Seite aus war Lombok ein echter Geheimtipp.
Tolle Strände, zu uns waren die Menschen immer nett, die Preise waren voll in Ordnung und es gab viel zu erkunden.
7 Tage während unserer Weltreise sind uns nicht langweilig geworden!

Anmerkung:
Manchmal hört man, dass Lombok für Touristen nicht ganz ungefährlich sein soll.
Wie in allen armen Ländern und Gegenden sollte man also nicht offen mit Kamera, Handys, Schmuck und Co. herumlaufen und sich eher bedeckt halten.
Euch nun aber erst einmal viel Spaß beim eintauchen in die Straßen, Strände und Co. von Lombok in Indonesien.

Lombok Video Travel Guide | Expedia Asia
The island of Lombok is situated in the Indonesian archipelago, between the islands of Bali and Sumbawa. Lombok offers a quieter, slower-paced alternative to its neighbors.
Mataram is the capital of Lombok. It is home to Lombok's largest Hindu Temple, Pura Meru. Also in the city is the Mayura Water Palace, which features a royal court and floating pavilion.
Another of Lombok's picturesque religious centers is Batu Bolong Temple. It is perched above Senggigi Beach, where some of the island's prettiest sunsets are to be witnessed. Further inland is Pusuk Park Pass, a reserve teeming with monkeys.
The town of Tanjung is mostly rural, with its market at the center of local life. From here, it's a short boat ride to the peaceful Gili Islands, where there are no motor vehicles. Gili Air and Gili Meno are the smallest of the islands. Gili Trawangan is larger, and offers more in the way of accommodation, restaurants and activities.

We are still in amazing Indonesia and considering living in Indonesia with our kids! We love it here so much. We are in Lombok this week and after a fun couple of weeks with Tim and Jeni we sadly say goodbye but not until we give Tim a proper Indonesian Birthday celebration.
