THE LOST COLONY, ROANOKE ISLAND, NC
We took a quick night trip down to Manteo, North Carolina to see a play called The Lost Colony. We had a great time hanging out with family, going on the beach, and seeing part of the play before it was rained out. The Lost Colony Behind The Scenes
You have no idea how crazy it gets backstage at The Lost Colony. Of course they have it under control at the nation's longest running outdoor symphonic drama. We were lucky enough to capture the chaos as cast and crew held dress rehearsals, preparing for opening night. The production is known for the incredible costumes from William Ivey Long, from the intricate brocade of the heavy Victorian Era wear to spray painted natives in leather loincloths. You'll get a glimpse into what it takes to change from one to the other, while meeting your various cues, making it on stage just in time. Enjoy the video, and if you're on the banks, make sure to check out this exciting production.

1973 Corridor, Roanoke Island, Manteo, the Causeway and Mann's Harbor
This is a series of photographs taken by the North Carolina Dept. of Transportation in 1973 and strung together to create a film of how the area looked prior to plans implemented for the upcoming 400th anniversary celebrations of the Roanoke Voyages and the first attempts at English colonization, 1584 to 1587 and also the 50th anniversary of the Lost Colony outdoor drama in 1987. Note that all but 2 or 3 billboards are now gone since 1973 and the Roanoke Voyages Corridor is now one of the loveliest success stories in the nation. I will upload a video of the corridor as of 2003, narrated by Andy Griffith very soon!
