The Council Square (Piața Sfatului) is the heart of the old medieval Brașov.
The most important building in the square is the former Council House (Casa Sfatului), which was built in 1420 and is located in the middle of the square. Around the main square is the picturesque pedestrian-only Republicii street, the Black Church, former Council House, indoor and outdoor terraces and restaurants, the Orthodox Church, Casa Mureșenilor museum, Museum of Urban Civilization, Hirscher House, the Rope Street (Strada Sforii) and more.
Every year the “Golden Stag” (Cerbul de Aur) music festival takes place here.
Brasov Historical Center in Brasov, Romania
The Brașov County Museum of History is a history museum in Brașov, Romania.
In the central square of the old city, in 1420, the town's town, once called Rathaus or the House of the Council, was built. The ground floor still retains elements of the Gothic style, and the tower and the tower are built in Renaissance and Baroque style. From 1950 the building hosts the History Museum of Brasov County .
Brasov County Historical Museum was founded as a regional museum in 1950, and it has inherited a large part of the collections of the Bârsa and Astra Country Museum in Brasov.
The collection of the Museum has been enriched by systematic research, acquisitions and donations, reaching today 36,000 objects of historical and artistic interest.
In 1950, the Museum of History received in heritage the House of the Council, a Baroque building in the Council Square, a Baroque building in the Council Square, which was certified as a headquarters of the furry guild since 1420. The 1420 document was a contract between the Guardsman and the Magistrate of Brasov by which the Council of the Centurions was given the right to raise a courtroom over the guild building. During the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries, the House of Councilors underwent various modifications, and new rooms and the tower were added to it.
In the 7th century of the last century, the History Museum of Brasov received the patrimony of the building on the 21st Heroes Boulevard, which was destined to accommodate the art department, a decade later, the museum's patrimony was later added to the building of the museum in which it was organized ethnography section.
Also in the museum, the Muresen Memorial House developed as a memorial museum dedicated to the Mures family, which played an important role in the cultural and national life of the Romanians in the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
In 1990, the Museum has a first break through the detachment of the art and ethnography sections that become the Museum of Art and Ethnography.
The House of the Muresen became a museum since 1997.
At present, the History Museum has three sections housed within representative historical monuments in Brasov: the Council House, the Fabric Bastion and the Black Tower.
The Board House houses the basic exhibition and has a showroom for temporary exhibitions. The museum is organized on three levels (basement, ground floor and floor) and has thirteen exhibition halls, displaying 1673 objects that make up the basic exhibition.
The basic exhibition has as its theme the history of Brasov from the earliest times to the present and is divided into three sections: the archeology department, the medieval history department, the modern and contemporary history department.
The archeology section is located in the basement of the House of the Council and includes archaeological remains from the Upper Palaeolithic to the 14th century; arms and stone, bronze and iron, neolithic ceramics, Roman and medieval Dacians, etc.
The Medieval History Department is located on the ground floor and contains objects and products of medieval Brasov guilds: crates, convoys and guild seals, weapons, ornaments, church items, torture tools, etc. Two reconstructions are also featured in the exhibition: a blacksmith workshop and a medieval scourge.
The Modern and Contemporary History Department presents an old Romanian and German book exhibition (XVI-XVIIth century) and an exhibition devoted to urban civilization from the nineteenth century to the beginning of the 20th century, which comprises various manufactures manufactured by small industry and the reconstitution of a newspaper editorial. Another hall is devoted to the events preceding the formation of Great Romania and presents personalities of Romanian history and personalities of the history of Romanians and local personalities who participated in the Great Assembly in Alba-Iulia.
The Weavers Bastion is situated at the end of the Castle Street, next to the sports base Olimpia was built in two stages between 1421-1573, it is the only one of the eight bastions of the fortress preserved in its original form. The bastion has a hexagonal plan surrounded by walls with a thickness of 4, 30 m at the base, pierced with pitted and fire holes at which the access was provided by four levels of wooden galleries. In 1800, inside the bastion were built two rooms for wreaths of the weavers' guild, in which today is housed the exhibition that includes a collection of weapons, the medieval fortress model made in 1896 and the Skeiului model made in the 1950s.
The Black Tower entered the heritage of the County Historical Museum in 2001 after having undergone restoration works. The tower includes an exhibition devoted to craftsmen of the XV century, in which the most diverse weapons (lances, arches, lips, swords, crossbows, etc.), mugs, tin plates and ironware (locks, frogs, keys etc.) )

ROMANIA: EXPLORING DRACULA'S CASTLE in BRAN, the whole story ????????
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go to the beautiful country of Romania and let's visit Bran Castle which is situated near Bran and in the immediate vicinity of Brașov and which is a national monument and landmark in Romania. The fortress is situated on the Transylvanian side of the historical border with Wallachia and it is known as Dracula's Castle since it is often erroneously referred to as the home of the title character in Bram Stoker's Dracula. There is no evidence that Stoker knew anything about this castle. The castle is now a museum dedicated to displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie. Tourists can see the interior on their own or by a guided tour.

Braşov
The origins of Brasov as a medieval town are lost in the dark times. Archaeological discoveries mention life on this land since the Bronze Age, 60,000 years ago.
The Dacian-Roman settlements (Brasov, Harman, Cristian, Feldioara) in this area stand proof that after the Romans retreat (the year 271) the inhabitants (Daco-Roman population) remained on this land.
For centuries, the city was (and still is) Transylvania's gateway towards the South and East. As the renowned Harvard professor Samuel Huntington shows in his work The Clash of Civilizations, this is where (ideologically) Europe ends. The fault line between the western and the eastern civilization runs indeed through Brasov, separating Transylvania from the rest of Romania.
As one might expect, the city had a troubled history. The Brasov defense fortifications were built between the 15th and the 17th centuries, as a consequence of the repeated invaders coming from the east and south. A significant part of the citadel walls are still standing.
In 1688 when the Austrian army conquered Transylvania, Brasov was the last Bastion standing. 1689 was a one of the toughest years in the history of Brasov. On April, 21, a big fire destroyed most of the town and killed 3,000 people. Most of the houses were destroyed and Saint Maria Church, smoked by the fire, would become The Black Church. The citizens rapidly rebuild the city.
In the period following the 1st World War, Brasov became a strong economical center in Europe, but the town was partly destroyed during the 2nd World War. It was rebuilt and the historical buildings were restored. During the second half of the 20th century, the communist administration forcefully industrialized the city, bringing here workers from the rest of Romania, and determining population of German or Jewish origin to leave the city in droves.
The Village Museum, Bucharest, Romania
The Village Museum is an open-air museum where dwellings from all regions of Romania have been relocated and reassembled from rural cottages, farmhouses, churches (they all them temples) and water mills. It was a special children’s day when we visited, so I was able to videotape children in various activities making Romanian crafts. The folk dancers on the video entertained us as we ate a traditional Romanian meal during lunch at a restaurant near the Village Museum Park.
Astra Historic Village Museum Near Sibiu Romania E028
I made a day trip with two friends (Yuval and Nozomi) to the Astra Museum which is really more of a historic village. One of the highlights was learning how to use a manual scythe to mow grass! Each of us took a try at it! Enjoy!

ROMANIA: The beautiful MONUMENTS of BUCHAREST'S BELLU CEMETERY ????
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit Bellu Cemetery which is the largest cemetery in Bucharest and one of the best known in all of Romania. It is spread over a large area of land near Tineretului Park and was founded on the site donated to the city by Barbu Bellu in 1853, hence its name. Bellu Cemetery is a museum of monuments of the 19th-century Romanian mortuary architecture and it’s worth a visit if you happen to spend some time in Bucharest. Especially if you like spooky places and stories from the past, then this is the right place for a short visit. The cemetery is full of monuments that are meant to tell the stories of those who found their final resting place here. From tragic love stories to monuments dedicated to some of the most important Romanian writers and artists, if you take the time, you can learn something new with each step you take.

Cucuteni Museum Piatra Neamt - Neamt County Romania
- The museum for eneolitic art Cucuteni was inaugurated in the summer of 2005 and its the first museum for the Cucuteni art in Romania. This museum runs in the section B of the History and Archeology Museum from Piatra Neamt and it displays over 300 pieces from the Cucuteni and Pre-cucuteni cultures these objects are included in the category of thesaurus object for the national heritage. The Cucuteni culture is the last great culture with painted ceramics from Europe. The characteristic element of the Cucuteni Culture is the ceramics painted in three colors: white, red and black this is the proof of an extraordinary sense for the color
Ancient Cucuteni civilization on Romania current territory
The Cucuteni-Trypillian culture, also known as Cucuteni culture (from Romanian), Trypillian culture (from Ukrainian) is a late Neolithic archaeological culture which flourished between ca. 5500 BC and 2750 BC, from the Carpathian Mountains to the Dniester and Dnieper regions in modern-day Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine, encompassing an area of more than 35,000 km2 (13,500 square miles).
At its peak the Cucuteni-Trypillian culture built the largest Neolithic settlements in Europe, some of which had populations of up to 15,000 inhabitants
One of the most notable aspects of this culture was that every 60 to 80 years the inhabitants of a settlement would burn their entire village.
The reason for the burning of the settlements is a subject of debate among scholars; many of the settlements were reconstructed several times on top of earlier ones, preserving the shape and the orientation of the older buildings.
One example of this, at the Poduri, Romania site, revealed a total of thirteen habitation levels that were constructed on top of each other over a period of many years
The culture was initially named after the village of Cucuteni, located in Iași County, Romania, where the first objects associated with it were discovered. Cucuteni is close to the city of Iași, which is one of the centres of culture and higher education in Romania (having the oldest university in the country), including a large academic community. In 1884, one of these Iaşi scholars, the folklorist and teacher Teodor T. Burada, visited the tell (hill-shaped ruins) located next to the village of Cucuteni. During his visit he unearthed some beautiful pottery and terracotta figurines from the ruins

Cetatea FAGARAS Fortress (Transylvania, Romania)
Enable ENGLISH subtitle ! - Activați subtitrarea în românește !
Fagaras Fortress is located in the town of Fagaras in Transylvania, in the central part of Romania. Built in 1310 on the site of a former 12th century wooden fortress, Fagaras was enlarged between the 15th and 17th centuries and was considered one of the strongest fortifications in Transylvania. The fortress was surrounded by a deep moat which could easily be filled with water. The fortress boasts three floors, five towers and four bastions. Fagaras Fortress functioned mainly as a residence for various princes and their families. Transylvanian Prince Gabriel Bethlen (1613-1629), strongly influenced by the Italian Renaissance, rebuilt the fortress, bestowing elegance and beauty to the construction. During the rule of Georg Rákóczi (1630-1649), the castle's fortifications were doubled and the moat was enlarged. Ráckózi had the bastions bridged and covered, the moat paved with stones, the bridge and the casemates repaired and a guardhouse built. The entry of Făgăraş Fortress in the property of the Habsburg Empire in 1696 and its transformation into a military garrison was the beginning of a period of decline. Serving military purposes, the castle and fortress of Făgăraş lost their former elegance and splendor. Between 1918 and 1948, the fortress was a Romanian army garrison. From 1918 to 1924, it served as a place of refuge for White Russians who fled the Bolsheviks. Also, after the fall of Poland in 1939, a large number of Poles found refuge in the fortress. Between 1948 and 1960, the fortress was transformed into a communist political prison until 1960 when it was turned into a museum. Fagaras Fortress houses the Museum of Fagaras Country having mixed profile (history, ethnography, art). It includes 20 collections, exhibition of Fagaras representing the evolution of civilization in a string of moments and significant events. Remember by the famous exhibit The Iron Maiden. In recent years, the fortress has been extensively restored, strengthened and equipped with museum inventory, essential being the restoring of the Great Hall of the Throne.
