Everglades! is an American crime-adventure television series that aired in syndication for one season from 1961–62 and in reruns. Ron Hayes starred as Constable Lincoln Vail, a law enforcement officer of the fictional Everglades County Patrol who traveled the Florida Everglades in an airboat, a vehicle which was often the focus of the program. Hayes, a northern California actor and stuntman, was an avid outdoorsman and conservationist. Gordon Casell appeared in five of the 38 half-hour episodes as Chief Anderson, Vail's superior. Steve Brodie made three appearances as Captain Andy Benson; Dan Chandler was twice cast as Vail's sidekick, airboat guide Pete Hammond. Future film star Burt Reynolds appeared twice in the role of Lew Johnson and once as Trask. Guest stars included R.G. Armstrong, Victor Buono, Roger C. Carmel, Paul Carr, Jack Cassidy, Lonny Chapman, John Doucette, Penny Edwards, Frank Ferguson, Luke Halpin, Douglas Kennedy, Robert Knapp, Paul Lambert, Tyler McVey, Larry Pennell, Mala Powers, Chris Robinson, Johnny Seven, Ray Teal, Bill Travers and Dawn Wells.

There are only a few airboat companies that are certified through the National Parks system to operate within Everglades National Park. Coopertown Airboats, in Miami, Florida is one of those few. We brought our parks pass along and checked in to ride on a river of grass through the everglades. We spot fish and birds and even a few alligators!

14th of Dec 2015 Everglades Coopertown Air Boat Tour

Karen, myself, Steve and Bev drive out to Coopertown Air Boat Tours on Gator Alley in the Everglades to take a tour and see more Alligators and experience the Everglades. It was a great experience and much cheaper than some of the tours offered closer to Miami. I got some underwater video with the GoPro of alligators up close and we got to feel and touch a baby alligator and a Boa Constrictor..

The Everglades are a natural region of tropical wetlands in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Florida, comprising the southern half of a large watershed.

The system begins near Orlando with the Kissimmee River, which discharges into the vast but shallow Lake Okeechobee. Water leaving the lake in the wet season forms a slow-moving river 60 miles wide and over 100 miles long, flowing southward across a limestone shelf to Florida Bay at the southern end of the state.

The Everglades are shaped by water and fire, experiencing frequent flooding in the wet season and drought in the dry season.
