Visit Santa Barbara with Lisa from We Said Go Travel
Visit Santa Barbara April 2015 (#seesb) I loved my visit to Santa Barbara. I can highly recommend eating at Kyle's Kitchen. The burgers were great and walking distance from my hotel, The Goodland in Goleta which is part of the Kimpton Family.
Wondering what to do or where to wander?
Have a picnic at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse in the sunken garden. It is a beautiful location and they even have movies here.
Along historic State Street, visit the Granada theater and see an Opera.
At the Painted Cabernet you can take a two hour art class with wine. An artist will lead you step by step to a fantastic painting of your own.
From State Street, enjoy views of the mountains and then take a short drive to walk on the beach.
Go to Stearn's Wharf and explore Jellyfish and friends at Santa Barbara Sea Center
and my favorite--take a surrey ride. Rent one from Wheel Fun and follow their map on your bicycle build for two.
Do you prefer to take your picnic in a rose garden? Visit the Old Mission Santa Barbara.

Ginger Martin Presents | 1301 Bella Oaks | Rutherford
The exterior of the main house’s rugged fieldstone and light gray stucco walls, 10’ wide veranda, and weathered metal roof belie a warm, welcoming Old-World charm with a relaxed feel. The distinctive use of natural elements, deliberate lines, and soft faded colors creates an elegant and comfortable home that offers commanding views of the surrounding foothills and vineyards from nearly every room.
The interior favors calm, light grays, and warm antique whites. Painted shiplap, subway tile, industrial lighting, rich wood and venerable iron details tie together the combination of styles that embodies this picturesque historical narrative. The banister to the ground level floor and to the third-floor suite was custom made by Napa Valley ironmonger, Joe Lafarge, who painstakingly created a design inspired by a home in Italy. Nearly every element of this bespoke home is custom made. The functional style features numerous built-ins, all crafted by one of California’s most talented woodworkers, Garth Miller.
This stately French Country Farmhouse was designed by famed Napa Valley architect Howard Backen and was completely rebuilt in 2006, and recently renovated in 2016. Situated in the Cabernet vineyards of Rutherford, the home was designed by renowned style-guru Erin Martin, and photographed by actress-author Diane Keaton in 2010 for her book: House.
From its columned cabana with white-painted ceiling beams and fireplace to its board and batten carriage barn, this versatile compound blends a century of American design into a single transcendent whole. A lush garden surrounds the home with roses, gardenias, hydrangeas, and olive trees, as well as a verdant lawn between the farmhouse, cabana, and barn.
Balancing aesthetics and functionality beautifully, 1301 Bella Oaks offers multiple outdoor entertaining areas, gracious interiors, and practical design elements. A stunning rendition of a timeless classic, the French Farmhouse.

Lyrics:
I live inside my own world of make-believe
Kids screaming in their cradles, profanities
I see the world through eyes covered in ink and bleach
Cross out the ones who heard my cries and watched me weep
I love everything
Fire's spreading all around my room
My world’s so bright
It's hard to breathe but that's alright
Hush
Shh
Tape my eyes open to force reality (Oh no, no)
Why can’t you just let me eat my weight in glee?
I live inside my own world of make-believe
Kids screaming in their cradles, profanities
Some days I feel skinnier than all the other days
Sometimes I can't tell if my body belongs to me
I love everything
Fire's spreading all around my room
My world's so bright
It's hard to breathe but that's alright
Hush
Shh
I wanna taste your content
Hold your breath and feel the tension
Devils hide behind redemption
Honesty is a one-way gate to hell
I wanna taste consumption
Breathe faster to waste oxygen
Hear the children sing aloud
It's music 'til the wick burns out
Hush
Just wanna be care free lately, yeah
Just kicking up daisies
Got one too many quarters in my pockets
Count ’em like the four leaf clovers in my locket
Untied laces, yeah
Just tripping on daydreams
Got dirty little lullabies playing on repeat
Might as well just rot around the nursery and count sheep

American History (After Hours): The Judgement of Paris and American Wine
On May 16, 2016, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Judgment of Paris with a special American History (After Hours) program at the museum with wine tastings, food, and dynamic conversation. The Judgment of Paris was a pivotal moment forty years ago when American winemakers surprised a panel of French wine experts (and the world) by placing first in a blind tasting that pitted the new American wines against the best of France.
Watch the panel discussion from this evening about the legacy of the Judgment of Paris and American wine history featuring experts and some of the original participants:
Steven Spurrier – The organizer of the 1976 Judgment of Paris.
George Taber – The only journalist to cover the tasting and author of Judgment of Paris (New York: Scribner, 2005).
Warren Winiarski – The winemaker of the winning 1973 Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon and founder of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars
Bo Barrett – The CEO and former winemaker at Chateau Montelena Winery and son of the late Jim Barrett who owned Chateau Montelena at the time of the Judgment of Paris.
Violet Grgich – The daughter of Mike Grgich, the winemaker of the winning 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay and founder of the winery, Grgich Hills Estate, where Violet is co-proprietor.
Ted Baseler – The CEO of Ste. Michelle Estates and CEO of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars.
Moderated by Paula Johnson, Curator, National Museum of American History.

The In-Laws
Emmy Award-winner Peter Falk (Columbo, The Princess Bride) and Academy Award-winner Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine, Slums of Beverly Hills) are brilliantly funny in this zany comedy about a dentist and a CIA Agent, and their riotous misadventures on the eve of their children's wedding. Written by Andrew Bergman (Honeymoon in Vegas, Blazing Saddles), and co-starring Academy Award-nominee David Paymer (Alex & Emma, State & Main), Ed Begley, Jr. (The Accidental Tourist) and Nancy Dussault (TV's Too Close for Comfort). A runaway boxoffice hit, this film was directed by Academy Award-honoree Andrew Hiller (Carpool, Silver Streak).

Table 2 Table: Aida Bistro
Table 2 Table is a half-hour program celebrating some of the most popular restaurants in Howard County. Our latest episode takes us to Aida Bistro, a wine bar and restaurant in Columbia. This establishment is the lifelong dream of co-owners Joe and Mary Barbera, who wanted to share their love of good food and good wine with the community. Aida Bistro is named after Joe's mother, who just might greet you at the door. And it is home to an innovative wine on tap system that serves thirty wines without the waste of opening and storing bottles. The system also makes it easier for budding wine connoisseurs to taste different wines and find out which ones suit their tastes. After getting a taste of Aida Bistro and its eclectic Italian menu we will head to the kitchen of the Howard Community College Culinary Institute where Aida Bistro's Executive Chef will show us how to create one of the restaurant's signature dishes.
