Fair Park talent show very entertaining

CROSSVILLE — The first Crossville's Got Talent was a great show; just ask anyone who was there! The Palace Theatre was almost full. Everyone in the audience along with those that participant had a fun time, even if they didn't win.
We would like to thank our main sponsor, Kroger for being there, and giving their support. Thanks to Six Flags over Georgia and Dollywood Amusement Parks. Also thanks to our local video/audio specialist, Tony Perry, for adding to the show and also recording it. If you missed it, anyone can pick up a copy of the show on DVD, at Star Productions on Main Street for $15.
Fair Park really appreciates the talented entertainer D.J and his wife Donna for being the masters of ceremonies. Great job! Thanks to the wonderful judges Jim Crabtree, Julia Stone, and Angela Robbins for their show biz expertise. Also, thanks to the audience who bought tickets and had the final vote.
A very special thank you to all the many different talented performers, who did such a wonderful job entertaining us, making the evening so special. They were all winners!
The first-place winner was the Seven Pine Band, which surprised everyone in the last act, with Eight Second Ride. The band consisted of Leonard Sloan, Cameron Sink and Brandon Luttrell, Lance, Knox, and Jack Marshall.
Second place was 11-year-old Timothy Hawn who amazed us playing the piano. Third place went to 11-year-old Mary Kemp with a fun tap dance.
Thanks to all for their support of the Fair Park Senior Center. There will be more great talent shows in the future that you do not want to miss!

Tropical Cumberland Plateau: My Mom's Neighborhood in Crossville, TN--July 2015
I've been visiting my Mom in Crossville, Tennessee for a couple of weeks to help her classify and organize her fossil collection, and figure out how to work her new MacBook and printer. For much of this time, both of us have spent a large portion of each day inside, for the primary reason that the heat and humidity make Crossville feel like a bloody rainforest. Sorry about the video quality; I ventured outside primarily in the evenings; perhaps the humidity affected the camera as well. If the crickets chirping remind you of a jungle, then walking around Crossville in July will remind you of the same climate even more strongly.
It's a jungle out there on the Cumberland Plateau. For realz...

Due out June 8th, 2014.
A limited edition of 2000 numbered packages were letterpressed by hand over three days at Independent Project Press in Bishop, CA. Five different paper stocks, four different inks, and four graphic changes were made during the process creating unique, thoughtful packaging for this new album.
Live and Lucky captures 13 tracks recorded while on the road in 2013. There are nine previously unreleased songs on the album, as well as some favorites from their previous two studio releases. The bulk of the album was recorded at the Historic Palace Theater in Crossville TN by Terry Ashburn, and some additional tracks were recorded by the Littlest Birds at an intimate outdoor show at the Black Dog Cafe in Tallahassee, FL, with the last track recorded at KPIG radio in Watsonville, CA with host John Sandidge.

The Littlest Birds are a nationally acclaimed cello and banjo duo from the Eastern Sierra of California that have performed across 33 states and Canada, including such festivals as the Oregon Country Fair and Vancouver Folk Music Festival.

Les Misérables (pronounced /lɛs ˈmɪz(ə)rəb(ə)lz/ or /leɪ ˌmɪzəˈrɑːb/; French pronunciation: [le mizeʁabl(ə)]), colloquially known as Les Mis or Les Miz (/leɪ ˈmɪz/) is a sung-through musical based on the novel Les Misérables by French poet and novelist Victor Hugo. It has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, original French lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, with an English-language libretto by Herbert Kretzmer.
Set in early 19th-century France, it is the story of Jean Valjean, a French peasant, and his quest for redemption after serving nineteen years in jail for having stolen a loaf of bread for his sister's starving child. Valjean decides to break his parole and start his life anew after a kindly bishop inspires him by a tremendous act of mercy, but he is relentlessly tracked down by a police inspector named Javert. Along the way, Valjean and a slew of characters are swept into a revolutionary period in France, where a group of young idealists make their last stand at a street barricade.
