Preah Khan, Angkor, Siem Reap - Cambodia 4K Travel Channel
In order to reach Preah Khan, the temple complex north of Angkor Thom, we take nearly the same route as the day before. Our moped-rickshaw drives past Angkor Wat, through the south gate of Angkor Thom and past the Bayon and the Terrace of the Elephants. After we have let the northern town gate and the 100 m wide moat behind us, we reach Preah Khan. The temple is hidden in the woods.
In the past Preah Khan was more than just a temple. It was both Buddhist monastery with shrines for 430 Hindu gods, Mahayana university with more than 1,000 teachers, as well as an agricultural economic management center. Before Angkor Thom had been built, Preah Khan was presumably the provisional capital of the Khmer empire. The temple formed the center of the city. The city with an area of 750 x 900 m was protected by a moat. It almost had 100.000 inhabitants at the time. Under the reign of King Jayavarman VIII, in the mid-13th century, the complex was converted to a Hindu temple and many Buddha statues and reliefs destroyed.
The name Preah Khan (Holy Sword) is derived from the original Sanskrit name Nagara Jayasri, which means the holy city of victory. Jayavarman VII dedicated the temple in 1191 to his father, who drove out the invaders and defeated the arch-enemy, the Cham from present-day central Vietnam.
The central statue is named Jayavarmeshvara, which means Jayavarman, Lord of the world. It is consecrated to the father of Jayavarman, representing the incarnation of Avalokiteshvara, the universal Bodhisattva of compassion and caring. In a similar way Jayavarman VII had commemorated his mother with the construction of Ta Prohm.
We enter the complex by the west gate. Through the gate tower (Gapura) flanked by powerful Guardians we come to the actual temple. The temple is cross-shaped. A longitudinal passage which is interrupted only by different gates, allows us to see to the other end. In the center under a Prasat (tower) is a small stupa.
Openings in the walls are arranged in such a way that the rays of sun point directly to the top of the stupa. This gives the impression as if a flame burns at the top of the stupa.

Cambodia: HEAVEN ON EARTH STONES IN THE SKY (1of2) EN
According to Graham Hancock, Angkor Wat and all the temples were conceived by its builders as a symbolic diagram of the universe. The notion of a land that is the image of heaven on which are built cosmic temples with halls that resemble the sky was an idea that took root in Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat consists of a series of five inter nested rectangular enclosures. The short dimensions are aligned with high precision to true north-south, showing no deviation whatever according to modern surveys. The long dimensions are oriented, equally precisely, to an axis that has been deliberately diverted 0.75 degrees south of east and north of west.
The first and outermost of the five rectangles that we find ourselves looking down on from the air is the moat. Measured along its outer edge it runs 1300 meters north to south and 1500 meters from east to west.
Its ditch, (moat) 190 meters wide, has walls made from closely fitted blocks of red sandstone set out with such precision that the accumulated surveying error around the entire 5.6 kilometers of the perimeter amounts to barely a centimeter.
Angkor Wats principal entrance is on the west side where a megalithic causeway 347 meters long and 9.4 meters wide bears due east across the moat and then passes under a massive gate let into the walls of the second of the five rectangles. This second enclosure measures 1025 x 800 meters. The causeway continues eastward through it, past lawns and subsidiary structure and a large reflecting pool, until it rises on to a cruciform terrace leading into the lowest gallery of the temple itself. This is the third of the five inter nested rectangles visible from the air and precision engineering and surveying are again in evidence with the northern and southern walls, for example, being of identical lengths, exactly 202.14 meters.
Ascending to the fourth rectangle, the fourth level of Angkor Wats gigantic central pyramid, the same precision can be observed. The northern and southern walls measure respectively 114.24 and 114.22 meters. At the fifth and last enclosure, the top level of the pyramid which reaches a height of 65 meters above the entrance causeway the northern wall is 47.75 meters in length and the southern wall 47.79 meters.
According to a study published in the journal Science, these minute differences, less than 0.01 percent, demonstrates an astounding degree of accuracy on the part of the ancient builders.
The Draco-Angkor correlation
The principal monuments of Angkor model the sinuous coils of the northern constellation of Draco. There seems to be no doubt that a correlation exists: the correspondence between the principal stars of Draco and at least fifteen of the main pyramid-temples of Angkor are too close to be called anything else.
Cycles of the Ages
A detailed survey of Angkor Wat published in Science magazine in July 1976 reveled that even the causeway incorporates cosmic symbolism and numbers encoding the cycles of time.
After establishing the basic unit of measure used in Angkor as the Khme hat (equivalent to 0.43434 meters) the authors of the survey go on to demonstrate that axial lengths along the causeway appear to have been adjusted to symbolize or represent the great world ages of Hindu cosmology:
These periods begin with the Krita Yuga or golden age of man and proceed through the Treta Yuga, Dvarpara Yuga and Kali Yuga, the last being the most decadent age of man. Their respective durations are 1,728,000 years; 1,296,000 years; 864,000 years; and 432,000 years.
It therefore cannot be an accident that key sections of the causeway have axial lengths that approximate extremely closely to 1,728 hat, 1,296 hat, 864 hat, and 432 hat the yuga lengths scaled down by 1000. We propose, conclude the authors, that the passage of time is numerically expressed by the lengths corresponding to yugas along the west-east axis.
Angkor wats dominant feature is its long and massive east-west axis which locks it uncompromisingly to sunrise and sunset on the equinoxes. In addition, the temple is cleverly anchored to ground and sky by markers for other key astronomical moments of the year. For example, reports Science:
It is interesting to note that there are two solstitial alignments from the western entrance gate of Angkor Wat. These two alignments (added to the equinoctial alignment already established) mean that the entire solar year was divided into four major sections by alignments from just inside the entrance of Angkor Wat. From this western vantage point the sun rises over Phnom Bok (17.4 kilometers to the north-east) on the day of the summer solsticeThe western entrance gate of the temple also has a winter solstice alignment with the temple of Prast Kuk Bangro, 5.5 kilometres of the south-east.

An Evenin at Pub Street in Siem Reap,Cambodia,캄보디아 씨엠립 펍 거리의 Evenin
The History of Pub Street
The infamous Pub Street started off as a a small, 3-restaurant establishment on a humble stretch of dirt road in the heart of the city. The Angkor WHAT? Bar was the first club to open its doors on the street in 1998, closely followed in August of 2000 by the already closed “Singaporean Asian Rooftop” restaurant, and the Red Piano Restaurant. Other Pub Street well-known monuments such as Temple Club and Le Tigre de Papier came into fruition not too long afterwards. However, as described by a long-time Siem Reap living expat, there were more rats occupying Pub Street than tourists at that time. Around 2005, Pub Street was finally paved and turned into a cleaner road. With the success of Angelina Jolie’s blockbuster movie “Tomb Raider”, featuring the majestic temples of Angkor, tourists started to discover the wonders of Siem Reap, and began piling in to the parties of Pub Street. The name “Pub Street” was officially coined by locals and travelers around 2008. Today, the nightlife action extends to two parallel alleys, known as “The Lane” (located north of Pub Street) and “The Passage” (located south of Pub Street).

ប្រាសាទតាកែវ | Ta Keo Temple, Siem Reap, Cambodia
Ta Keo had to be the state temple of Jayavarman V, son of Rajendravarman, who had built Pre Rup. Like Pre Rup, it has five sanctuary towers arranged in a quincunx, built on the uppermost level of five-tier pyramid consisting of overlapping terraces (a step pyramid), surrounded by moat, as a symbolic depiction of Mount Meru. Its particularly massive appearance is due to the absence of external decorations, as carving had just begun when the works stopped,[1] besides an elaborate use of perspective effects. It is considered an example of the so-called Khleang style.
Plan of Ta Keo
The main axis of the temple is E-W and a causeway 500 meters long connects its eastern entrance to a landing stage on the Eastern Baray, with which Ta Keo was in tightly relationship.[2] The outer banks of the surrounding moats, now vanished, measure 255 m by 195 m.
The first terrace is 122 m by 106 m, its wall of sandstone on laterite basis constitutes the outer enclosure. Along the east side there are two long galleries, whose roofs were probably in wood and tiles.[3] They were illuminated by balustraded windows.
The second terrace is 5.5 m higher. Each of the first two terraces has a gopura at the four cardinal points. Each gopura has three independent passages and a central tower with diminishing tiers.
A continuous gallery (1.4 m width) constitutes the inner enclosure of the second terrace. It has windows only towards the interior and measures 80 m by 75 m. It's really interesting, because it has no door and seems to be purely decorative, and is the first example of Khmer gallery (together with Phimeanakas). Before Ta Keo (e.g. in Pre Rup) there were long buildings that followed the length of enclosures with some discontinuity.[4] However it hasn't a stone vault, probably its roof was made of wood and tiles too.
Jayavarman V was ten years old when he succeeded his father, Rajendravarman, in 968. His early years of reign were rather turbulent and the court officials dominated the royal politics. When he was aged seventeen (in 975), he began the construction of his own state temple, whose modern name is Ta Keo, that was dedicated some time around 1000. In contemporary inscriptions it is called Hemagiri or Hemasringagiri (the mountain with golden summits).[8] It remained unfinished until the reign of Suryavarman I.[9]:135 Yogisvarapandita, a high priest who became minister of Suryavarman I and received the temple from him many years later, says in inscriptions that a lightning strike hit the unfinished building, an evil omen, so the works stopped. Maybe works stopped simply because of the death of Jayavarman V, as there was a struggle for succession. Actually the temple worked continuously as a cult center until the 13th century,[10] and even Yogisvarapandita worshipped the shrines at the first levels of the temple.
A term tightly linked to Hemasringagiri is Jayendranagari (which in Sanskrit means capital of the victorious king), the royal palace or maybe the new capital city of Jayavarman V.[11]:367[12] However the remains of this large hypothesized ensemble are very scarce. Today only a tower in the south-west survives, similar to the corner towers of Ta Keo, with an unusual single door to the south.

Angkor Wat and Bayon Temple filmed in vintage B&W. November 2019
Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world is so big as to be hard to take in at once. The 200 metre wide moat and causeway with the 350 metre entrance portico is impressive enough, but the grandeur within its walls is truly stunning.Built as a funerary temple for King Suryavaraman II; Angkor Wat represents the pinnacle of achievement in Khmer temple building. It is South East Asia's biggest tourist draw; being visited by more than two million tourists each year.
The Iconic faces of the Bayon have always been a symbol of Angkor. Built toward the end of 12th Century, the Bayon was the centre piece of Jayavarman VII's city of Angkor Thom. It was the last of the great state temples dedicated to Buddha. With 52 four faced towers it is one of the most memorable of all the Angkor Monuments. The 216 faces which remain on the temple's towers, are thought to representations of Jayavarman VII. Some experts believe that the faces belong to the Bodhisattva of compassion; Avalokitesvara or Lokesvara
Angkor's popularity is justified as it is the worlds largest and arguably the most spectacular religious monument. Over one kilometre of spectacular carvings lie within its outer galleries and a vast labyrinth of passages, courtyards and the five lotus flower towers at its centre.

Information: It is a temple-mountain in Angkor Cambodia, possibly the first to be built entirely of sandstone by Khmers.
The site: It had to be the state temple of Jayavarman V, son of Rajendravarman, who had built Pre Rup. Like Pre Rup, it has five sanctuary towers arranged in a quincunx, built on the uppermost level of five-tier pyramid consisting of overlapping terraces (a step pyramid), surrounded by moats, as a symbolic depiction of Mount Meru.

The first terrace is 122 m by 106 m. Its wall of sandstone on laterite basis constitutes the outer enclosure. Along the east side there are two long galleries, whose roofs were probably in wood and tiles. They were illuminated by balustraded windows.
It has no door and seems purely decorative. It is a first example of Khmer gallery (together with Phimeanakas). Before Ta Keo (e.g., in Pre Rup) there were long buildings that followed the length of enclosures with some discontinuity. However, it hasn't got a stone vault; possibly its roof was made of wood and tiles.
Along the eastern side of the second terrace in the corners there are two buildings that are the shorter version of the long galleries of the first terrace. More towards the central axis[5] there are two little sandstone libraries, opening to the west, with false windows on upper storeys.
The final pyramid rises 14 m in 3 narrow steps from the second terrace. Its base is 60 m square; the summit is 47 m square and stands 21.5 m above the ground. The four stairways that lead on the summit are continuous and very steep. At the foot of the eastern one there is a statue of a kneeling Nandi, which confirms that Ta Keo was a Shivaite temple. The absence of any decoration makes the final pyramid really massive. However, on the east face some damaged carvings of floral patterns are visible.
The 4 corner towers on the summit stand on 0.8 m high basements and open to the 4 cardinal points with protruding vestibules. In the central tower, which dominates the others from its basement 4 meters high, the vestibules are doubled. Fragments of lingas and several statues were found in the sanctuary chambers (some 4 meters wide) and around the towers. The central tower reaches a height of 45 meters.

Cambodian cuisine/Restaurants:
Khmer cuisine or, more generally, Cambodian cuisine, is the traditional cuisine of the people of Cambodia. Average meals typically consists of more than one dish and ideally contrasts flavours, textures and temperatures within the meal using plenty of herbs, leaves, pickled vegetables, dipping sauces, edible flowers and other garnishes and condiments.
The staple food for Cambodians is rice. Today rice is consumed by most Cambodians daily and with all meals, using a great number of cooking styles and techniques. There are hundreds of varieties of indigenous Khmer rice, from the fragrant jasmine-scented malis rice to countless types of wild, brown and sticky rice. Sticky rice is most often consumed as a dessert, often with slices of tropical fruit like mango or durian and coconut milk.Rice is eaten throughout the day in the form of street-side snacks, such as deep-fried rice cakes with chives and spinach, for breakfast, as in Cambodia's famous rice noodle soup kuyteav or rice porridge, and in many desserts. Plain white rice is served with nearly every family meal, typically served with grilled freshwater fish, a samlor or soup, and an assortment of seasonal herbs, salad leaves and vegetables.
Water, rice and freshwater fish exert the most profound influences on Khmer cuisine. The Mekong river, the twelfth longest in the world cuts through the very heart of Cambodia. The capital Phnom Penh is on its riverbank, at the junction where two other rivers meet: the Tonle Sap and Bassac. The Tonle Sap river connects the Mekong with the Tonle Sap lake, or Great Lake, which acts as a liquid heart and natural reservoir for the entire Mekong river system, regulating the flow of huge volumes of water, and allowing the safe passage of an astonishing number of freshwater fish. The lake itself is believed to have more fish than any other in the world and ranks second only to the Amazon river in biodiversity.
Khmer cuisine shares many commonalities with the food of neighboring Thailand — although, less chilli, sugar and coconut cream are used for flavor — and of neighboring Vietnam, with which it shares and adopts many common dishes, as well as a colonial history, as both formed part of the French colonial empire in Southeast Asia. It has drawn upon influences from the cuisines of China and France, powerful players in Cambodian history. The Chinese began arriving in the 13th century, but Chinese migration accelerated during the French period. Curry dishes, known as kari (in Khmer, ការី) show a trace of cultural influence from India. The many variations of rice noodles show the influences from Chinese cuisine. Preserved lemons are another unusual ingredient not commonly found in the cooking of Cambodia's neighbours; it is used in some Khmer dishes to enhance the sourness. The Portuguese and Spanish also had considerable influence in Cambodian affairs in the 16th century, introducing chilli and peanuts into Asia from the New World. However, chilli never gained the same status or prominence as it did with the cuisines of neighboring Thailand, Laos and Malaysia. Even today very few recipes include chilli.

What does God speaks to you? Good deeds! Thou shall not kill! Thou shall not steal! Thou shall not commit adultery! These are some seeds where people follow to get going the normal way!
These are the same passage that we can find in the BIBLE! I'm certain that the BIBLE is the source of normal civilization!
Even the early people before Christ; they have already the Old Testaments and part and parcel of the HOLY SCRIPTURES TODAY! 6th B.C., one founder of religion got the anointment not from God but by 'FEELING OF TRANSFORMATION'= that group was sustained by their faithfuls & supported the reincarnation of human spirit to anything!
This group had millions of gods! Now, God saw the wickedness of the world! God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son Jesus Christ,& whosoever believed in Him should NOT perish but have everlasting life!
Jesus came in flesh, died and rose again from the dead! He promised to fulfill HIS SECOND COMING to say HIS final verdict or judgement among the living and dead! THIS IS TRUE!
The HOLY BIBLE says so! If were not for the BIBLE; then we all are not civilized today! But we should obey God first and follow the LAW OF GOD and not of men (Acts 5:29)!
Those believing in objects, animals, statutes, images, inanimate things, man-made carvings, human temples and any other form except GOD & JESUS CHRIST shall be judged upon by GOD of JESUS CHRIST!

DAY 67 OF OUR SOUTHEAST ASIA ADVENTURE
Pub Street, Siem Reap, Cambodia New Years Eve 2014-2015
The Old Market (Phsar Chas) area, including the nearby Pub Street, Pub Street alleys and the Night Markets, are favorites when visiting Siem Reap. Stretching from the river to the night markets on Sivutha Blvd, the entire area is now the dining, shopping and nightlife center of town. Sok San Road, opposite the Old Market area has become quite popular as well, sporting dozens of budget-friendly business, especially guesthouses, bars and restaurants.
Curios at the Old Market, Siem ReapOf all the traditional Cambodian markets in Siem Reap, the Old Market offers the deepest selection of souvenirs and curios. There are souvenir vendors throughout much the market, especially on the river side. The north side along Street 9 sports a number of inexpensive food stalls serving Cambodian fare in an interesting, local atmosphere. A good place for a budget meal and a taste of Cambodian street food.
After the sun goes down, the focus shifts to Pub Street and the Pub Street Alleys including The Passage, Alley West and The Lane. Named for the numerous pubs that line Street 8, it all began in 1998 when Angkor What? opened its doors - the lone pub on a lonely street.
Pub Street, Siem Reap, CambodiaThese days Pub Street is lined end to end with restaurants, pubs and shops, making it the tourist center of town, especially after dark. The narrow connecting alleys and passages just off Pub Street have also filled with small The Passage, Pub Street Alley, Siem Reapbusinesses, offering a somewhat quieter and more relaxed ambiance the ever-bustling Pub Street.
Pub Street’s narrow connecting alleys and passages offer a relaxed, pedestrians-only alternative to the main street. Alley West is a particularly quaint little alley with an artsy, Old World atmosphere. The emphasis is firmly on boutiques, each with its own unique style - clothing, fashions, handicrafts, art and souvenirs - and a few little restaurants in the mix as well.
