Little Five Points in Atlanta
Little Five Points (also L5P or LFP or Little Five or Lil' Five) is a district on the east side of Atlanta, Georgia, United States, 2 1⁄2 miles east of downtown. It was established in the early 20th century as the commercial district for the adjacent Inman Park and Candler Park neighborhoods, and has since become famous for the alternative culture it brings to Atlanta. It has been described as Atlanta's version of Haight-Ashbury, a melting pot of sub-cultures, and the Bohemian center of the Southern United States.
The name is a reference to Five Points, which is the center of downtown Atlanta. Little Five Points refers to the intersection at the center of the neighborhood. Two points are provided by Moreland Avenue (U.S. 23 and Georgia 42), which runs perfectly north/south, and forms the county line dividing Fulton and DeKalb. Two points are provided by Euclid Avenue, which runs northeast/southwest. The fifth point was originally Seminole Avenue, which met the intersection from the northwest, but the Seminole point was converted to a plaza and there is no longer a five-point intersection, though some regard McLendon Avenue, extending east from Euclid's southern intersection at Moreland, as the new fifth point.
The first Atlanta streetcars were constructed just south of the Little Five Points in the 1890s. According to the National Park Service, as the population grew on Atlanta's east side, the area where the trolley lines converged became one of the earliest major regional shopping centers. Little Five Points thrived until the 1960s, when a proposed freeway through the heart of the district drove residents out of the neighborhood.[2]
By the 1970s, Little Five Points had fallen into disrepair. A revitalization began as urban pioneers moved into the then-cheap neighborhood and restored the Victorian-style homes. By 1981, local merchants formed the Little Five Points Partnership to continue the restoration and expansion of the retail area, turning what was formerly a gas station into the 484 retail area — several retail shops aligned in strip-mall style.

Peachtree Park Neighborhood Home - SOLD 12/08/2015
One of the most stunning homes in the Peachtree Park neighborhood of Buckhead. This exquisitely refined home could grace the pages of Architectural Digest.
Built in 1944 and meticulously renovated in 2005, this 6 bedroom, 6 full & 2 half bath home offers a spacious and open living space. Incredible architectural design details with the highest quality finishes are evident throughout this stunning home. Large windows allow natural light throughout the entire home. A spacious carriage house can be found at the end of the property with exquisite finishes as the main home.
Peachtree Park Neighborhood
There are 550 homes of Peachtree Park that border 13 streets in the Buckhead neighborhood near Lenox Square Mall. Peachtree Park is a safe, quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance of all Buckhead’s top rated restaurants, shopping, and entertainment.
Homes in Peachtree Park are excellent examples of early to mid 20th century architectural styles. The neighborhood was developed in three distinct periods, generally spreading southward from Peachtree road to Darlington Road.
The oldest part of the neighborhood, the Peachtree Highlands National Historic District, was developed in the 1920’s and 1930’s as a trolley car neighborhood for middle-class tradespeople.
The Middle section of Peachtree Park, from East Paces Ferry Road to Greenview Avenue and part of Dale Drive is comprised of Colonial Rival, English Cottage and Cape Cod homes, built in the 1930”s and 1940’s
The southern third of Peachtree Park was constructed mostly after World War II.
The Peachtree Park community has become an in-town haven for long-time residents and newcomers alike. Amazing neighborhood organization and committed volunteers also make Peachtree Park a great place to live. Growing families are expanding their homes rather than leaving the neighborhood. Peachtree Park’s ambiance makes it a real neighborhood, not just a collection of homes.

The Atlanta Streetcar rolled into downtown on its inaugural journey, marking the first time streetcars have regularly traversed Atlanta streets in more than 50 years.
The official launch of the new streetcar happened during a grand opening ceremony in Woodruff Park downtown, where dignitaries spoke, pastors blessed it with prayers and onlookers snapped photos on cellphones.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed has said passengers are invited to ride for free for the first three months of service.
Reed says the streetcar's 2.7-mile route will connect neighbors to several tourist attractions, museums and entertainment venues. The route includes 12 stops.
The streetcar's opening was delayed and authorities have said it was involved in two accidents during a testing period.

Providence R.I. to Atlanta, GA USA on Amtrak, March 21 & 22, 2015
These are scenes taken while traveling on Amtrak's Northeast Regional and Crescent trains. The Northeast Regional took me to New York Penn station, and the Crescent took me to Atlanta's Brookwood Station, with longer stops in Washington, D.C. (to change from one electric locomotive to two diesel-electriclocomotives) and in Charlotte N.C., to service the train.
I got some real wintertime views of the right of way at the beginning, followed by some views of New York City and other cities along the way.
At 12:55 you can see the procedure begin to uncouple the electric locomotive, and then I went inside Union Station and out the front for a quick view of the US Capitol dome, surrounded by scaffolding. By the time I returned to the train, the replacement locomotives were in place, and you can read what GE put on the side of each of them. Much of the journey on the Crescent was in the dark, but the sky brightened up just enough for some views of the final miles to Atlanta. My apologies for the focusing problems caused by the low light levels outside! You can see downtown Suwannee at 22:30, and we got to race a MARTA rapid rail train at 23:00. Ga. highway 400 can be seen at 24:06. Thanks for watching!
