Seville / Sevilla, Andalucia, Spain
Seville is a beautiful romantic city it is the home of bullfights, flamenco, and the birthplace of tapas, it is a gastronomical playground.
One of Seville's premier attractions is the stunning Alcázar, it is a medieval Islamic palace, it incorporates a unique fusion of Spanish Christian and Moorish architecture. The Patio of the Dolls, Ambassador's room, Patio of the maidens, all of them are simply magnificent.
The Cathedral is a majestic building which dates back to the 15th century and claims to be the third largest building of its kind in the world and the largest built in Gothic style. You can get to Giralda Tower from inside the Cathedral, there is no charge for going up the tower and the views over Seville are amazing from the top.
The white-washed houses with flower-filled patios, winding, cobbled streets lead you to hidden baroque churches, intimate plazas, great shopping areas, and world-renowned museums.
Ramble through the winding alleys of the city's former Jewish quarter (Santa Cruz), then cross the historically important Guadalquivir River to Triana the traditional home of gypsies and flamenco.
Luxury family stay in Seville | Gran Meliá Colón
Seville in spring is beautiful and the temperature just right. Staying in this part of the city for our March 2017 vacation was a good call. Gran Meliá Colón hotel was surrounded by orange trees, restaurants, cafes and shopping. The facilities were luxurious with every floor showcasing art. We booked into the Supreme family room with two double beds and option for a cot to be added for the third child. While the room was spacious, it was quite dark due to the windows overlooking the hotel interior. We were travelling with other family members who were booked in three other rooms so we were able to compare the layouts. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay. The bathroom amenities were good, the buffett breakfast sumptuous and our whole travel group of 13 enjoyed the service and delicious dinner at the in house restaurant El Burladero. Some of us even made it for a nightcap at El Tendido. Great hotel in Seville.

Sevilla
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | Sevilla is the flamboyant city of Carmen and Don Juan, where bullfighting is still politically correct and little girls dream of growing up to become flamenco dancers. Sevilla has soul — and we feel it in its lacy Moorish palace, massive cathedral, lavish royal tombs, labyrinthine Jewish quarter, and its people-filled streets.

Alcázar in Seville, Spain
The Alcázar is the royal palace of Seville, renowned as one of the most beautiful buildings in Spain. There was previously a Muslim fortress on this site about 1,000 years ago, which was entirely rebuilt in the 1300s and 1400s after the reconquest of Spain. Today the Alcázar is an outstanding example of mudéjar architecture, which is that special blend of Muslim and Spanish styles that displays very elaborate ornamentation. For the next several hundred years the complex expanded and grew into one of the grandest palaces in Europe. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, it is one of the most popular attractions in Spain and a must-see while you are in Seville. Our visit includes the Alcázar gardens with their labyrinths of flower-lined walks, and glorious date-palms, bananas, orange tress and citron groves. It really is a pleasing spot within the palace enclosure. The Alcázar is situated just next to the Cathedral so it is very easy to find.
We walked through the Alcázar with a local guide, which is always a great way to learn more about a place – you don’t have to go fumbling for books or walking through without understanding what you’re looking at.
