The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Join thrill-seekers at the mysterious Hollywood Tower Hotel for the ultimate adrenaline rush. For the longest 2 minutes of your life, rise and fall at terrifying speeds in the hotel's haunted elevator, again and again!
The Haunted Hotel
Cross the decrepit grounds of the once-elegant Hollywood Tower Hotel and wind your way into the abandoned lobby. Time has stood still since the night of October 31, 1939 when lightning mysteriously struck the tower, plunging 5 unfortunate elevator occupants into oblivion.
After passing through the dilapidated lobby, enter the creepy library, where the television plays a lost episode of The Twilight Zone. Rod Serling invites you to enter the elevator and discover the secret of the unfortunate 5's disappearance.
Do you dare?
The Service Elevator
Continue to the sinister boiler room, where the hotel bellhops encourage you a bit too cheerfully to strap yourself into one of the seats in the rickety service elevator. Rise up floor after floor in darkness as the elevator occasionally stops to provide a ghastly glimpse of those who disappeared that frightful night. The elevator stops at a vestibule in front of a large, ornate mirror, in which you can catch your reflection as Rod Serling speaks:
Wave goodbye to the real world!
Touches from The Twilight Zone
Throughout the attraction, you can find props from episodes of the original version of television's classic series, The Twilight Zone. These include:
A pair of broken spectacles from Time Enough at Last — a near-sighted bookworm is the sole survivor of a devastating war.
The broken stopwatch from A Kind of a Stopwatch — this is the stopwatch that can actually stop time!
A toy telephone from the episode Long Distance Call — 5-year-old Billy Bayles uses his toy telephone to talk to his dead grandmother.
The electric razor from the episode A Thing About Machines — a man's razor rises up like a snake and pursues him.
An antique radio from the episode Static — an old radio tunes in programs from the past.
And many more!

Drop in for a Thrilling Stay
Hold on tight as you make your way into another dimension of sight and sound.
A Grand Re-Opening
Tour the infamous Hollywood Tower Hotel, the onetime haunt of Tinseltown’s rich and famous until a mysterious incident forced it to close in 1939. Amble under the iron-wrought gates of the abandoned abode and wind your way through a neglected, weed-filled garden before stepping inside a dusty lobby, seemingly frozen in time.
Edge into a dark library with strange artifacts. As lightning illuminates the darkened room, a nearby television set springs to life and Rod Serling welcomes you on a journey into the Twilight Zone.
From a secret passage, trudge into the shadowy confines of the dilapidated boiler room, home to rattling machinery and your vessel into the 5th dimension. Enter the rickety, elevator-style lift and strap yourself in, light bulbs spookily flickering on and off above you.
Going Up?
Launch upward in darkness until the corroded doors unlock to expose a lengthy hallway inhabited by the otherworldly hotel inhabitants from 1939. Beckoning for you to join them, the spooky specters dematerialize and your skyward journey continues.
The 5th Dimension
At the 13th floor, a collection of sights and sounds inspired by the opening credits of The Twilight Zone come into view. Journey through this star-filled realm and prepare to discover what lies beyond the darkest corner of imagination.
Going Down!
Shriek in terror as you suddenly hurl down the abandoned shaft that unexpectedly changes direction and launches back up the hotel. Gaze out through a missing wall 13 stories high as the doors inexplicably open and close to reveal the hotel grounds. As if possessed by some unseen phantom, plummet down and speed upward over and over again, the sound of cables snapping and metal clanging overhead.
Will you make it back to the real world… or will you become a permanent resident of the Twilight Zone?
The Mystery of the Hollywood Tower Hotel
On a stormy Halloween night in 1939, 5 unlucky souls disappeared from the Hollywood Tower Hotel’s doomed elevator.
Classic stars of the silver screen sought rest and relaxation at the Hollywood Tower Hotel during the Golden Age of Hollywood. In 1939, during a gloomy Halloween night, 5 unfortunate hotel patrons were riding in the elevator when a violent storm struck the building… and they were never seen again. Whatever became of them and wherever they may have gone has remained a mystery to this day. The hotel closed down that night and has remained abandoned ever since.
The Present Day
You’re invited to take a tour of the Hollywood Tower Hotel—and experience an unforgettable ride—on a stormy night very similar to the evening when the unexplained event occurred. Be welcomed by Rod Serling as you journey to the 5th Dimension.
Based on the Television Series
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is based on the popular television series which originally aired from 1959 to 1964. Created, hosted and written by Rod Serling, the award-winning show—with its imaginative storylines and unexpected twist endings—was wildly successful.

Too Terrifying for Kids?
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror includes sudden drops within a dark, enclosed space which may be frightening to some Guests.
Hollywood Studios - The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Disney World, Orlando, Florida)
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, commonly known as Tower of Terror, is an accelerated drop tower dark ride located at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney California Adventure, Tokyo DisneySea and Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris. Exempting the Tokyo version, all the attractions are based upon Rod Serling's CBS television anthology series, The Twilight Zone, and take place in the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel, in Hollywood, California. The Tokyo version, which features an original storyline not derived from The Twilight Zone, takes place in the fictional Hotel Hightower. Nevertheless, all four versions place riders in a vehicle themed as a seemingly ordinary hotel elevator, and present riders with a fictional back story in which people mysteriously disappeared from a hotel elevator under the influence of some supernatural element many years prior.

Tower of Terror (On Ride) Disney's Hollywood Studios - Walt Disney World Orlando
Preshow and Full Ride. Plunge down the dark freight elevator shaft of the once glamorous Hollywood Tower Hotel in The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park.
Ah, but this is no ordinary hotel. Its phantom elevator is located beyond the fifth dimension, the one that crosses over into The Twilight Zone.
The Legend:
Classic stars of the silver screen sought rest and relaxation at the grand Hollywood Tower Hotel during the Golden Age of Hollywood. In 1939, during a gloomy Halloween night, 5 unlucky souls were riding down the Hotel's maintenance service elevator when a violent storm struck the building... and they were never seen again. Black scorch marks still scar The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror facade where lightning left its autograph.
The Elevator:
A ride on the fright elevator beyond the eerie boiler room in the hotel basement could be down, then up, or maybe down again, or up and up—every experience is different and randomly selected by the Tower itself. There's no way of knowing which direction you'll go on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

POV Weekly | Twilight Zone Tower of Terror | Disney's Hollywood Studios | OurthemeParkLife
Welcome back this is Episode 34 coming to you from Disney's Hollywood Studio's where we are riding Twilight zone Tower of Terror. It is a great drop tower ride and we always love going on this when we visit Hollywood Studio's In the American version of the attraction, guests make their way to the Hollywood Tower Hotel through the front gate. Guests then walk along a cracked, curved pathway that leads to the hotel. The pathway goes past overgrown gardens, signs pointing to the stables, a bowling green, tennis courts, swimming pools, and a vine-covered pavilion. In most parks, 1930s jazz music plays in the queue area.
Entering through the hotel's front doors, guests encounter an interior designed to give the impression that the Hollywood Tower Hotel has been left untouched since the night of its closure. The lobby is covered in dust and draped with cobwebs, and throughout there are other signs of the hotel's abrupt closure. Past the front desk, the main elevators are in a dilapidated state, and a sign reads Out of Order. Guests are informed by bellhops that their rooms are not ready yet, and they are then ushered into the hotel library, which houses the hotel's collection of books, antiques, an old television set, and various pieces of Twilight Zone memorabilia scattered about the room. Through the library window, guests can observe a severe thunderstorm raging outside.
With a crash of thunder and lightning, the power suddenly goes out, except for the television set which crackles into life and plays the opening sequence from the fourth and fifth seasons of The Twilight Zone, hosted by Rod Serling.
You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension. A dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and imagination. You've just crossed over to... The Twilight Zone.
The episode goes on to depict the events of a stormy night in 1939.
Hollywood, 1939. Amid the glitz and the glitter of a bustling movie town at the height of its golden age, the Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right, a beacon for the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all that.
As the video plays, a lightning bolt strikes the tower and causes five people—a celebrity couple, a rising child star, her nanny, and a hotel bellhop—to vanish from the elevator, along with an entire wing of the building. The scene then cuts to the out of order elevator, and digitally-altered footage of Rod Serling from It's a Good Life.
The time is now, on an evening very much like the one we have just witnessed. Tonight's story of The Twilight Zone is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. This as you may recognize is a maintenance service elevator, still in operation, waiting for you. We invite you if you dare to step aboard because in tonight's episode, you are the star, and this elevator travels directly to...the Twilight Zone.
The television then turns off and the guests are directed through to the boiler room, where they await the maintenance service elevator's arrival. Stay tuned for more video's coming soon.
