THE THELLO | Train from Venice to Paris

Hey Trekkers! It's been a while. We took some time off when we got back home to Australia, but now we're back on the road and ready to pump out a lot of content in the coming months.
This entry marks the 12th official vlog entry since our travels began in 2016, and is one of the last entries in our Europe playlist (for now...) We plan on delivering twice as many videos in the coming months as we have in the previous year, as we buckle down and get serious about vlogging!

We soon head off to The Pacific Islands where we will cover many places between Vanuatu and Fiji. But before we bring you that brand new playlist, here's our newest entry The Night Train to kick off the final few Europe entries while we prepare for the next journey!

In this entry we ride the night train - called the Thello - from Venice to Paris, in a 17 hour train ride beneath the Swiss Alps. The train has terrible reviews online however we decided to do a review of the thello ourselves. It was certainly an adventure!
If you're not sure on whether to fly or to train between Venice and Paris, the major differences are convenience and comfort. For a higher price and longer travel time, you can experience this adventurous version of the route between Italy and France. We highly recommend it for backpackers with a decent sized budget, but do not recommend it for 5-star travelers at all.

My first trip with Thello, from Paris to Milan. Thello is a subsidiary of Trenitalia and has taken over the open access night train service between Paris and Venice. The rolling stock is entirely Italian, while the locomotives continue to be exchanged at the borders, in Switzerland and in Italy. April 2017.

Thello is a private frnech train operator that provide passenger services from France to Italy. There is one line from Paris to Venice and an other that opened in november 2014 from Marseille to Milan and recently a Nice to Milan line.

THELLO / 1ST CLASS / NICE TO GENOA / FRENCH ITALIAN TRAIN TRIP REPORT

This trip report is of the Thello service from Nice to Genoa, with the train continuing onto Milan. This is definitely the most civilised way to travel along the French & Italian Rivieras.

A beginner's guide to travel from Paris to Turin or Milan by high-speed TGV train, showing the train interior & exterior, the scenery and the food on board. Three daily French TGVs link Paris Gare de Lyon with Turin and Milan, from €29 one-way booked direct with French Railways.

The video shows the 14:41 from Paris arriving Turin 20:13, Milan Porta Garibaldi at 21:50, with an easy connection from London St Pancras by Eurostar.

The video was taken in June, and there was still snow on the highest peaks - the weather wasn't great on this occasion, overcast with brooding clouds, the route looks far better in proper summer sun or winter snow!

Fans of BBC Top Gear may recognise a shot or two in this video - I supplied a few clips to the Beeb for their Wembley to Milan TGV-versus-Mustang 'race' first shown in February 2013.
