Kas to Kekova
A 4 day return trip from Kas to Kekova. Some nice downwind sailing, and drone footage of the area.
Scenic Drive from Kas to Fethiye Along the Turkish Riviera
The Marine (husband, Steve - whom I no longer call the ex-Marine since once a Marine, always a Marine) and I were picked up at Hotel Phellos in Kas by Ali-Riza who runs his own airport transfer service and tours around Turkey (aliriz_Kas@hotmail.com). Ali Riza was recommended by guide Bayram for reliability and safety and lived up to Bayram's hype. He will also arrange tours throughout Turkey for travelers at any price point!
It is a two-hour drive from Kas to Fethiye and public buses leave from Kas on the hour, daily. The drive began along the coast on a terrible road (not surprising with the amount of vehicular traffic on this popular route) before heading inland and through valleys filled with greenhouses and fruit trees. An easy, beautiful ride and before we knew it, there was Fethiye, filled with yachts along the Marina.
Time for a two-day stay in Fethiye before heading home.

Deniz Feneri Lighthouse Kas
Deniz Feneri Lighthouse The Kaş Peninsula, Lycian Coast, Turkey
Lee, Hilary and Katie Harrison from Malvern World Travel have personally visited this stunning Hotel in Kas,it is highly recommended and also Ideal as a two Centre Holiday with some of Tour Operator Fairlight Jones other properties that Malvern World Travel also features.
Deniz Feneri means lighthouse in Turkish, reflecting the boutique hotel’s enviable positon at the mouth of the sea. Hours can be spent watching sailing boats glide and fishing boats bob towards the super-slick Kas marina in one direction, or out into the Mediterranean in the other. On shore, distinctive terracotta-tiled cottages lie scattered across the vertiginous, grassed hillside. These tumble down towards the sea, criss-crossed by limestone paths and hidden arches, with borders of geranium, hibiscus and rose and miniature lawns. There are several strategically placed rattan chairs, beanbags and hammocks to pause a while to enjoy the views en route to the sea. To Book contact Malvern World Travel on 01684 562406 or malvernworldtravel@hotmail.co.uk
On the large, private waterfront day beds perch on platforms built into the rocks, with several hidden nooks and steps down to the sea at intervals. Lazy days can be spent snorkelling in the clear waters and swimming alongside the resident loggerhead turtle. The thatched, waterside restaurant is open throughout the day – enjoy freshly squeezed apricot juice delivered straight to your lounger. At dusk it is the ideal spot for a sundowner against a backdrop of a blood-red sunset that reflects across the sea, the finest on the entire coast.
• The cuisine is predominantly Turkish and combines local, seasonal ingredients with culinary traditions. Languid breakfasts taken on the stone terraces are a highlight, with views up into the gorges of the Taurus mountains. Feast on seasonal fruits, olives, yoghurt, home-made breads, pancakes, honey and cheeses. Themed evenings take place down by the waterfront and include the legendary fish barbecue, bursting with fresh sea bass, bream, calamari, prawns and sardines grilled to perfection in the clay oven.
The Sunset Café bar located next to the restaurant is a relaxed spot in which to enjoy the fading tendrils of sun with an array of fabulous cocktails. Several nights a week the bar has tasteful, live music which can be enjoyed from the bar and Terrace restaurant.
Take advantage of the beautiful hammam for a traditional (and complimentary) soap and scrub which leaves skin silky-smooth. It is located next to the well-equipped, air-conditioned gym and there is a Guinot beauty centre with a range of treatments including the most wonderful Balinese massage. The freshwater pool, surrounded by wooden loungers and parasols is a tranquil spot that on many day’s guests can enjoy virtually to themselves (as most are at the waterfront).
There is a complimentary shuttle to and from Kaş harbour, a 10-minute drive, away which makes it easy to explore further afield. Or take the local public-transport dolmus, which runs hourly, and will pick you up and drop you off at the gate alongside the local shoppers and schoolchildren.
• Fairlight Jones offers all the rooms at the property, however the very best are reserved exclusively for our guests to enjoy. Tastefully designed with a clean and minimalist feel all have glorious sea views. Be lulled to sleep by sea breezes and the gentle waft of a of a muezzin's call to prayer floating across from a nearby village.
Fairlight Jones exclusive rooms include the huge, split-level Waterfront Suites, circular and airy with bedrooms set high on a mezzanine. And the super-chic 2-bedroom pool houses: cool-tiled, whitewashed and set on two storeys overlooking the bay to the mountains. Two have indoor-outdoor pools: flip the remote control and a section of glass floor in front of the sofa slides open as you step into a jacuzzi leading out the elegant infinity-pool.

Dalyan Paloid Mud Bath - Turkey
The Dalyan Mud Baths on the edge of Dalyan Canal, which connects Köyceğiz Lake to the sea, continues to be a center of attraction for foreign tourists.
In the region, about 500 tourists visit Dalyan Mud Baths a day.
In der Region besuchen etwa 500 Touristen Dalyan Schlammbäder pro Tag.
The Dalyan Canal, famous for its Kaunos Ancient City, rock tombs and Caretta caretta turtles, is now known for its mud baths.
The Dalyan Mud Baths have become a frequent destination for foreign tourists especially as the Kelopatra has made a mud bath for the beauty as well as the sulphurous water of 39 degrees in summer and winter.

INVISIBLE OLGA - Emergency Entrance Festival // Schauspielhaus Graz
Das Ergebnis sind die Abende Invisible Olga (Griechisches Nationaltheater, Athen), My Neighbour, My Enemy (Tschechisches Nationaltheater, Prag), The Promised Land (Israelisches Nationaltheater Habima, Tel Aviv), Who's afraid of a maidservant? (Teatro Garibaldi di Palermo), DRACULATOUR -- The Brand Stroker Project (Ungarisches Theater in Cluj) und Boat People (Schauspielhaus Graz).
About the project
Europe as an emergency entrance represents the topic of this co-operation between the national theatres in Prague, Athens and Tel Aviv, as well as the municipal theatres in Palermo, Cluj and Graz. Teams of artists -- theatre and movie directors, professional and laymen actors, musicians and video artists -- spent several months researching current questions on migration in their respective countries. They worked together with refugees, representatives of ethnic minorities, young and old, male and female sans papiers from Eastern Europe and Africa. The rules of documentary theatre agreed on stated that research was to be part of the rehearsal process and was to be focused on current human tragedies. It aims to be an investigation of an unknown present. It should examine its limitations -- but also process its utopian leaps.
Six plays, entirely different in their aesthetics and contents, were thus created: experimental, funny, highly emotional, grotesque or tranquil. All of them show personal witness of truth, and young artists from Fortress Europe and Israel position themselves as citizens of their respective cities, their countries or their communities of states.
This was the first step. It generated the following plays: Invisible Olga (National Theatre of Greece, Athens), My Neighbour, My Enemy (National Theatre of Czech Republic, Prague), The Promised Land (Habima National Theatre of Israel, Tel Aviv), Who's afraid of a maidservant? (Teatro Garibaldi di Palermo), DRACULATOUR -- The Brand Stroker Project (Hungarian Theatre of Cluj) and Boat People (Schauspielhaus Graz).
In the second step, two or three groups respectively met in multi-day workshops in Cluj, Prague and Graz. They gathered their research outcome, discussed their results, but first and foremost, they chose material for their joint improvisations. They found new connections, played with linguistic confusion, various theatrical styles and national clichés. These exciting encounters -- now for the second time on a transnational level -- opened up to a radically new perspective: Go to the Unexpected! New scenes were developed in the course of a few days, which are entitled Next Level #1, #2, #3 and will now be presented at the festival.

More Turkish beaches awarded Blue Flag status
Turkey now boasts the second-largest number of beaches with “Blue Flag” certificates following a large rise this year, according to the Turkey Foundation for Environmental Education (TÜRÇEV).
“Blue Flag” is an exclusive eco-label awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to beaches and marinas that meet certain criteria, such as water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management and safety.
Some 436 beaches acquired the right to display a Blue Flag certificate this year, said Dr. Cenk Halil Bayaz, a TÜRÇEV board member, during a meeting in the Mediterranean district of Manavgat.
“Spain tops the list with 578 beaches with a Blue Flag certificate, followed by Turkey with 436 beaches and Greece with 395 beaches. Turkey had 397 beaches with this certificate, and we have seen a dramatic rise in the number of such beaches this year, which is great for us,” he said.
Antalya tops list
Bayaz said the Mediterranean province of Antalya possessed the highest number of beaches with a Blue Flag certificate in the world.
Antalya is home to 200 of the 436 beaches with the Blue Flag certificate in total, Bayaz said.
“Antalya now has the highest number of beaches with the Blue Flag certificate both in Turkey and in the world. Some 85 beaches gained the Blue Flag certificate this year in the Antalya district of Manavgat,” he added.
The Blue Flag concept was born in France in 1985 where the first Blue Flags were awarded to coastal municipalities on the basis of criteria ranging from wastewater treatment to bathing water quality. In 1987, with support from the European Commission, the Blue Flag was brought to a European level, functioning as an instrument for the application of the EU Bathing Water Directive and including other areas of environmental management, such as waste management, coastal planning, protection and marinas.

2000+ Common Swedish Nouns with Pronunciation · Vocabulary Words · Svenska Ord #1
First video of the new Swedish Words Series! Thousands of words with native pronunciation.
This video shows exactly 2007 common nouns in its indefinite form, with its corresponding utrum (en) or neutrum (ett) indefinite article.
Voice over by Maria Kihlstedt (Gotland, Sweden).
► SWEDISH NOUNS INFO
Nouns have two grammatical genders: utrum (common) and neutrum (neuter), which determine their definite forms as well as the form of any adjectives used to describe them. Noun gender is largely arbitrary and must be memorized; however, around three quarters of all Swedish nouns are common gender. Living beings are often common nouns, like in en katt (cat), en häst (horse), en fluga (fly), etc.
► WORKFLOW TIPS
· Use the SPACE key to pause the video before the article appears and try to guess the pronunciation.

Just a very cool look around inside the museum. They had a fantastic collection of canoes and kayaks. The workmanship was incredible.
I saw the sign on the 401 and just decided to go for it. Well worth the trouble to find it in town.

The Great Gildersleeve: A Date with Miss Del Rey / Breach of Promise / Dodging a Process Server
The Great Gildersleeve (1941--1957), initially written by Leonard Lewis Levinson, was one of broadcast history's earliest spin-off programs. Built around Throckmorton Philharmonic Gildersleeve, a character who had been a staple on the classic radio situation comedy Fibber McGee and Molly, first introduced on Oct. 3, 1939, ep. #216. The Great Gildersleeve enjoyed its greatest success in the 1940s. Actor Harold Peary played the character during its transition from the parent show into the spin-off and later in a quartet of feature films released at the height of the show's popularity.
On Fibber McGee and Molly, Peary's Gildersleeve was a pompous windbag who became a consistent McGee nemesis. You're a haa-aa-aa-aard man, McGee! became a Gildersleeve catchphrase. The character was given several conflicting first names on Fibber McGee and Molly, and on one episode his middle name was revealed as Philharmonic. Gildy admits as much at the end of Gildersleeve's Diary on the Fibber McGee and Molly series (Oct. 22, 1940).
He soon became so popular that Kraft Foods—looking primarily to promote its Parkay margarine spread — sponsored a new series with Peary's Gildersleeve as the central, slightly softened and slightly befuddled focus of a lively new family.
Premiering on August 31, 1941, The Great Gildersleeve moved the title character from the McGees' Wistful Vista to Summerfield, where Gildersleeve now oversaw his late brother-in-law's estate and took on the rearing of his orphaned niece and nephew, Marjorie (originally played by Lurene Tuttle and followed by Louise Erickson and Mary Lee Robb) and Leroy Forester (Walter Tetley). The household also included a cook named Birdie. Curiously, while Gildersleeve had occasionally spoken of his (never-present) wife in some Fibber episodes, in his own series the character was a confirmed bachelor.
In a striking forerunner to such later television hits as Bachelor Father and Family Affair, both of which are centered on well-to-do uncles taking in their deceased siblings' children, Gildersleeve was a bachelor raising two children while, at first, administering a girdle manufacturing company (If you want a better corset, of course, it's a Gildersleeve) and then for the bulk of the show's run, serving as Summerfield's water commissioner, between time with the ladies and nights with the boys. The Great Gildersleeve may have been the first broadcast show to be centered on a single parent balancing child-rearing, work, and a social life, done with taste and genuine wit, often at the expense of Gildersleeve's now slightly understated pomposity.
Many of the original episodes were co-written by John Whedon, father of Tom Whedon (who wrote The Golden Girls), and grandfather of Deadwood scripter Zack Whedon and Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog).
The key to the show was Peary, whose booming voice and facility with moans, groans, laughs, shudders and inflection was as close to body language and facial suggestion as a voice could get. Peary was so effective, and Gildersleeve became so familiar a character, that he was referenced and satirized periodically in other comedies and in a few cartoons.
