WE BROKE THE GATE | Hilo, Hawaii
Theres good news and bad news when it comes to living in Hawaii - yes, of course it's beautiful with great weather and people but bad news is that we can't exactly just drive to another state. To ease our urge to adventure we took a weekend getaway to the Big Island, Hilo side to be exact. We ate a lot of fresh mochi, saw waterfalls, volcano, and caves.

Getting Stuck on a Mountain during the Spartan Beast in Hawaii With the Spartan Super the Next Day
One of the goals of Spartan racers, after #1-not dying, and #2-finishing, is to complete the three distances in one calendar year in order to complete the Spartan Trifecta and own a Trifecta Medal. There’s is also an Ultra Beast (which is twice as long as the Beast, but it still counts as a Beast in terms of the medal.
Anyway, at this point, we already completed a Sprint, and that wasn’t too bad. But the BEAST and the SUPER, really required us to train. I found out that not everyone finishes the race and sometimes people get injured, so we were determined to finish both races safely.
There were so many obstacles we didn’t get to record, AND…the one thing I wish we had footage of was the point in the race where so many of us were stuck on a couple of the mountains! I’m not 100% sure what happened, but some parts of the trails lead up several mountains which were muddy, extremely narrow (like single-file line narrow) and we would get stuck in like a human traffic jam for such a long period of time. Then to get out of the mountains, we had to climb up these muddy inclines with the use of even muddier ropes. It was nuts! You stop caring about everything else besides getting out of those mountains. Anyway, we finally finished it and it felt so amazing! It definitely tested our physical and mental strength. But we did it!! Ahhhhh!! If you like this video, please Like and Subscribe!

HIKI NŌ Focus on Compassion: Animals | Program
The final installment of the four-part Focus on Compassion HIKI NŌ series focuses on peoples’ compassion toward animals, including house pets, working pets, exotic animals and endangered species. Like the previous three shows, this episode is hosted by Crystal Cebedo, a 2016 HIKI NŌ and Wai‘anae High School graduate who is currently attending Menlo College in Atherton, California.
The outstanding HIKI NŌ stories in this Focus on Compassion show include:
–“Dog Adoption” from Kapa‘a High School on Kaua‘i: a look at a creative program initiated by the Kaua‘i Humane Society to promote dog adoptions through visitors taking the animals on nearby field trips.
–“Towards No More Homeless Pets” from Lahaina Intermediate School on Maui: a feature on the spay/neuter clinic conducted by the Maui Humane Society to compassionately address and prevent the overpopulation of homeless cats on the island.
–“Three Ring Ranch” from Kealakehe High School on the island of Hawai‘i: the story of how one woman’s life work to protect and educate about exotic animals was inspired by the animals who helped her recover from a debilitating accident.
–“Passion for Service” from Seabury Hall Middle School on Maui: the story of a young woman who spent almost half her life volunteering at Assistance Dogs of Hawaii, a program that trains dogs to assist people with special needs.
–“Wounded Warriors” from Waialua High and Intermediate School on O‘ahu: a feature on the work of Hawaii Fi-do, an organization that trains service companion dogs, and the positive impact one of their companion dogs had on a Schofield soldier in the Wounded Warrior Project.
–“Nene” from Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School on Kaua‘i: a look at the multi- state agency project of removing a flock of nene, Hawai‘i’s state bird, nesting on Kaua‘i Lagoon between the two runways at Līhu‘e Airport to a safer location for the birds and the public.
–“Mālama NOAA” from Āliamanu Middle School on O‘ahu: a feature on the efforts of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to protect and preserve the endangered Hawaiian monk seal population through medical care of sick or injured seals, the enforcement of laws, and through community education.
–“Hokulani” from Mid-Pacific on O‘ahu: the story of a Pomeranian that spreads joy wherever it goes.
President Nelson Invites Arizonans to Turn Homes Into Sanctuaries of Faith
More than 60,000 Latter-day Saints and invited guests at a football stadium in Arizona were encouraged by a prophet Sunday night to increase their faith practices in the home.
President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints taught Church members to do this by making their homes centers of learning and spirituality. Acknowledging that this will look a little different for everyone, he invited them to “pray each day intentionally” about how to do this. Such a cause, President Nelson said, “is that of Almighty God.”
President Nelson’s historic visit is believed to be the single largest gathering of Latter-day Saints in Arizona and among the largest crowds to hear a president of the Church in its 189-year history. He was joined at State Farm Stadium by his wife, Wendy, and President Dallin H. Oaks (one of his counselors in the First Presidency) and his wife, Kristen.

Hawaii Super Spartan 2016
This was my first attempt at wearing a GoPro camera during a race. Some of the visuals were simply unusable so there are a few fades and cuts in the beginning. Hot, humid, and beautiful, the Kualoa Ranch was an amazing venue.
This was the Hawaii Super Spartan run on Saturday, August 13th. It was started after the Ultra Beast and Beast races so there were already a ton of people on the run before we even started. Make sure to take a look at the amazing views of the mountains near the end!
DJI Osmo Walk to the Edge of Hanauma Bay Oahu, Hawaii
Hanauma Bay is a Marine Embayment formed within a Tuff Ring and located along the southeast coast of the Island of Oahu in the Hawaii Kai neighborhood of East Honolulu, in the Hawaiian Islands.
Hanauma Bay is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Island and has suffered somewhat from overuse -At one time accommodating over three million visitors per year!
Take note, if you plan on visiting Hanauma Bay, the park is closed on Tuesdays to allow the reef to recover from six days of visitors. Also, arrive EARLY! The tiny parking lot fills capacity by 07:00 and you WILL be turned away by Park Rangers and Hawaii Police!
