New Orleans is a major United States port and the largest city and metropolitan area in the state ofLouisiana. New Orleans is located in southeastern Louisiana, straddling the Mississippi River. The city and Orleans Parish (French: paroisse d'Orléans) are coterminous.[15] The city and parish are bounded by the parishes of St. Tammany to the north, St. Bernard to the east, Plaquemines to the south, and Jefferson to the south and west.[15][16][17] Lake Pontchartrain, part of which is included in the city limits, lies to the north and Lake Borgne lies to the east.[17]
Before Hurricane Katrina, Orleans Parish was the most populous parish in Louisiana. It now ranks third in population behind neighboring Jefferson Parish and East Baton Rouge Parish.[18]

Visit troubled jazz pioneer Buddy Bolden's house in New Orleans
The boarded-up, cream-colored house at 2309-11 First St. is believed to have been the home of jazz pioneer Buddy Bolden (1877-1931). Bolden was a star of the turn-of-the-century Crescent City music scene and his style of play influenced a generation of horn men. Yet he remains a mysterious figure, with only two remaining images and no known audio recordings. His career was cut short in 1907 due to apparent mental illness.The Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church has owned the currently unoccupied house since 2008. R&B pianist P.J. Morton entered into an agreement with the church in March 2019 that allowed him to pursue the restoration and re-purposing of the house. This video was made on Dec. 19, 2019.

The city that gave birth to jazz and the first US city to build an opera house now has more options for live entertainment than ever before. New Orleans has entire streets and neighborhoods dedicated to nightlife and live entertainment. The most famous of which is Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. But beyond Bourbon Street lies Frenchmen Street in the Faubourg Marigny – home to more than a dozen outstanding live music venues restaurants and bars. Beyond Frenchmen, lies the St. Claude corridor which is adding new live performance bars and restaurants almost monthly. And the same old familiar live music halls are still hosting amazing shows nightly, including – Tipitina’s, House of Blues, Preservation Hall, Snug Harbor, The Howlin’ Wolf, The Maple Leaf, DBA and The Spotted Cat, to name but a few.
