Tokyo-Bay Ferry connects between Kanaya in Boso Peninsula in Chiba-ken and Kurihama in the Miura Peninsula in Kanagawa-ken, across Tokyo Bay.
The journey time is only 35 minutes, and fare of a adult is Yen500.

Mt. Nokogiri Sawtooth Moutian | Chiba, Japan
We went to Mt. Nokogiri, or better known to some as Sawtooth Mountain. We took the Tokyo Wan Ferry from Yokosuka to Chiba. You can take the cable car or hike it like we did (it was a fairly easy hike). Once you're at the top there are all sorts of things to see, like the Hyaku-saku Kannon, or the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, the largest Daibutsu in Japan, and the 1,500 stone Arhats, and of course the view of Hell's Valley from the saw itself.

Ferry Ride from Kurihama to Kanaya Port. Videos of Walking Around Ferry. This ferry crosses Tokyo Bay, or Tokyowan, from the Yokosuka side to the Chiba side.
The Tokyo-Wan Ferry (東京湾フェリー Tōkyō-Wan Ferī?, Tokyo Bay Ferry) is Japanese car ferry operator. Its line links Yokosuka, Kanagawa and Futtsu, Chiba, across Tokyo Bay in some 40 minutes. Headquartered in Yokosuka, the company started its service from 1957. The ferry started to accept PASMO smart cards from June 2008.
At the Port of Kanaya, connection tickets to Keihin Electric Express Railway (Keikyū) Lines are available. The single ticket comprises the ferry to the Port of Kurihama, Keikyū Bus from the port to Keikyū Kurihama Station, and Keikyū Railway Line from the station.

Construction of the Monument
A monument commemorating Perry's landing was constructed in July 1901 (Meiji 34) following a visit to Kurihama in October 1900 by the retiredblack shipmidshipman, Rear Admiral Beardslee. Beardslee was shocked to find that Kurihama was a simple fishing village with nothing to indicate that the first encounter between the Japan and the United States took place there. The following November, Beardslee delivered a moving speech before the American Friends'Association where he expressed his treasured memories and his great disappointment with current day Kurihama.
The American Friends'Association was primarily made up of prominent businessmen and government leaders living near Tokyo and Yokohama. It's chairman, Kentaro Kaneko, had studied in the U.S. and also contributed to the drafting of the Meiji Constitution. Upon hearing Beardslee's speech, Kaneko led the Association to take initiative and plan for the construction of a comemmorative monument. They succeeded in collecting ¥20,000 in donations and were also granted a monetary gift from the Imperial Household Agency.
Thanks to a passionate campaign by Kaneko and the Association, the monument was completed within eight months of Beardslee's speech. Inscribed upon it were the wordsMonument to the Landing of U.S. Navy Commodore Perrywritten in Japanese brush script by Japan's first Prime Minister Hirobumi Ito. The unveiling of the monument took place on July 14, the same date as Perry's landing. Attending were domestic and foreign leaders including Prime Minister Taro Katsura and the U.S. Minister to Japan. The historical event which took place in the Miura Peninsula symbolized modern international relations and particularly the ties between Japan and the U.S.

Yokosuka city is in the Kanagawa prefecture on the Miura peninsular.
The cheapest way of getting there and getting around the area is by buying the Keikyu Miura Peninsular one day pass which can be purchased at any Keikyu Station.
This pass gives you unlimited rides on the buses and trains on the Miura peninsular, so you can get off and on where ever you like.

This week, I took a day-trip from to Nokogiriyama and spent the afternoon hiking through the rock formations left behind by its history as a stone quarry. Stopped to have lunch beneath the massive 30m carved buddha, and enjoyed a beautiful, sunny ferry ride home. Enjoy the first vlog of the second half of my year in Japan!

Each year during New Years, the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) and the United States Navy turn out all the lights on their ships 5 minutes to midnight. At exactly midnight, fireworks, lights, and horns are blasted to welcome the new year for about the next 3 minutes. Enjoy.
