Toledo library might change hours
Lots of Lucas County library users aren't happy with how state budget cuts could affect library hours. There's a proposal on the table right now to cut some of those hours.
In all about 27% of the library's public service hours could be cut if this plan is approved. And from the people FOX Toledo spoke with, that idea is not getting a whole lot of support.

(Jaden Reports) TOLEDO•OHIO-- The new Mott Branch library is now open. The new library is right across the street from the old location. The new library has new state of the art materials. The library includes a recording studio, green screen, camera and a brand new computer lab. There are also a whole bunch of books! A few of the people in attendance included Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, Former mayor Paula Hicks Hudson, Councilman Peter Uvagji, Councilwoman Yvonne Harper, TPS Superintendent Romules Durant and Local NAACP President Ray Wood. I spoke to a few local community leaders and they had all had one thing in common, the library is the beacon of the community! Many people attended the grand opening. The library is “MottKanda” themed with a unique architecture that is associated with the people who attend that library. Now you may wonder “Mottkanda”?. The Blade explains:
“Youth in the neighborhood call it “Wakanda branch,” a reference to the home of superhero Black Panther, library leaders said. That yielded the nickname “Mott-kanda,” Ms. Penn said.
“Oh my goodness, I love that. I love it. I love it,” Ms. Penn said of the public response. “I love the fact that people see the beauty, the power, the majesty of this place.”
The celebration went from 4:30-7pm today and it was quite the celebration. With high attendance it looks like this branch will be a beacon for decades to come. That is what everyone I spoke too had said and believes strongly.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

Toledo () is a city in and the county seat of Lucas County, Ohio, United States. Toledo is in northwest Ohio, at the western end of Lake Erie bordering the state of Michigan. The city was founded in 1833 on the west bank of the Maumee River, and originally incorporated as part of Monroe County, Michigan Territory. It was re-founded in 1837, after conclusion of the Toledo War, when it was incorporated in Ohio.
After the 1845 completion of the Miami and Erie Canal, Toledo grew quickly; it also benefited from its position on the railway line between New York City and Chicago. The first of many glass manufacturers arrived in the 1880s, eventually earning Toledo its nickname: The Glass City. It has since become a city with an art community, auto assembly businesses, education, healthcare, and local sports teams.
The population of Toledo as of the 2010 Census was 287,208, making it the 71st-largest city in the United States. It is the fourth-most-populous city in the U.S. state of Ohio, after Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. The Toledo metropolitan area had a 2010 population of 651,429, and was the sixth-largest metropolitan area in the state of Ohio, behind Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Akron.
