Ketchikan Shore Excursion Visit to Alaska Raptor Center and Creek Street
This is video from our excursion to the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary, Raptor Center, and Totem poles. In this video we pick up where we left off after our nature walk through the Tongass rainforest. We watched a native Alaskan tribesman carving a totem pole, visited an historic lumber mill, and then the Alaska Raptor Center. This was the first stop on our Northbound Alaskan cruise sailing out of Vancouver in July. This was one of the excursions offered by the Norweigan Cruise ship. We learned a lot on this tour, the guide was quite knowledgable and shared a lot of information, overall a great experience! The video of the Tongass Rainforest nature walk is here:

Alaska Cruise Vacation Day 4, Sunny Day in Ketchikan
Our Alaska Cruise Vacation: Day 4, Sunny Day in Ketchikan on the HAL Ms Westerdam in September 2018. Hope you enjoy this video and please keep in mind this is not only our first cruise but our first time vlogging.
Our first shore excursion day and the sun was shining all day in Ketchikan which is unusual for this rainforest town that has 265 days of rain each year. We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise as we entered the port and had an informative bus trip to the Totem Bight park. We saw some interesting examples of totem carvings and enjoyed stories on the bus ride there. Afterwards we made our way to Creek Street and saw shops and the salmon ladder. Of course we took the guys picture at the married men's walk. We did some shopping right next to the ship at the Tongass Trading Company , then back aboard for the taco bar, sail away, dinner and some relax time in the hydro spa!
Oh, and we witnessed a couple of passengers who almost missed the ship! Don't be late or they may leave without you!

Petersburg (Tlingit: Gantiyaakw Séedi Steamboat Channel) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Petersburg Borough, Alaska, United States. The population was 2,948 at the 2010 census, down from 3,224 in 2000.
The borough encompasses Petersburg and Kupreanof, plus mostly uninhabited areas stretching to the Canadian–American border and the southern boundary of the City and Borough of Juneau. While the city of Petersburg ceased to exist as a separate administrative entity (the borough assembly created a service area to assume operation of the former city's services), the tiny city of Kupreanof remains separate within the borough.

Dolly's on Creek Street in Ketchikan, AK
Andy shot this video and we had some fun with the bawdy history of Creek Street. Here's a transcript:
Andy: Welcome, everyone. This is Creek Street. This used to be all brothels. And... there were, like, 34 brothels along the creek here. And... this is in downtown Ketchikan, and that was pretty much the way it was until, I think they said, 1934. We do have a light rain falling right now, but in general, it's just a wonderful day in the neighborhood. And there's my wonderful husband...
Daniel: Hi!
(The next section of dialogue spoken with a stuffy English accent)
Andy: ...in front of Dolly's. Dolly's used to be what?
Daniel: Well, Miss Dolly was the proprietress of a house of sporting women.
Andy: Does that mean they liked to play volleyball?
Daniel: It means they liked to play the sort of sports that men like to play, if you catch my drift.
Andy: Like the skin flute?
(Back to regular American accent)
Daniel: Something like that.
Andy: Uh-huh.
Daniel: (laughs)
Andy: (English accent again) Oh, paw-paw, what do you think? Dolly's is quite interesting!

Salmon ladder - Ketchikan, Alaska
S salmon ladder is usually a series of natural steps in a cascade or steeply sloping riverbed, or a similar arrangement incorporated into a dam, allowing salmon to pass upstream. Salmon ladders are used to help mitigate the damage done by dams and other human made obstructions to the natural, historical movement of salmon.
Creek Street is an historic part of Ketchikan, Alaska where this particular salmon ladder is located and can be viewed by passersby. The path connects with an antique boardwalk on wooden pilings over Ketchikan Creek where there are various restaurants, curio shops, the Dollys House Museum, private dwellings and Married Mans Trail.
