Bergen,Norway Tour Video 2018
ergen is Norway's second largest city, and lies clambering up the mountain sides, overlooking the sea, embracing you. You can roam through living history in this modern city, before continuing on to explore the wildest and loveliest fjords of Norway.
Bergen, Norway travel guide
The plan for Bergen, Norway: walking tour of town center and the outdoor food market on the harbor; visit to the historic Brygen; and ride up the mountain by funicular to get a great view over the city.
Please subscribe:
Our walking tour will have a look at downtown and some of the quiet residential neighborhoods.
A short walk to the edge of town brings you to the funicular which takes you up the Floyen Mountain for a marvelous view across the city from a 1000-foot high observation perch. The ride just takes eight minutes, making this an easy excursion. At the top you get a spectacular view of the town of Bergen and the harbor, making a nice way to start the day. We then explore the town, old and new.
One of the fun activities is a visit to the colorful open-air food market at the harbor, especially busy in the summertime, rich with fresh produce, fish and meat. They have fruits and sandwiches to go as well so you can pick up a relatively inexpensive lunch, or just get a light bite while browsing around.
The most impressive historic site in Bergen is the large collection of wooden buildings known as the Brygen, constructed about 300 years ago. These wooden buildings are so important they are on the UNESCO list of world heritage sites. The Brygen was the main residences, offices, shops and warehouses of this thriving town, which was one of the important cities of the Hanseatic League, the major trading network of Northern Europe.
In the hillside behind the Brygen you can wander through a residential neighborhood that developed hundreds of years ago before there were any automobiles, so as as a result you have narrow, quiet lanes that are for pedestrians, making a peaceful place to stroll. Bergen is worth exploring just to browse around the old streets and alleyways, which can be a most satisfying experience. The small wooden houses lying higgledy-piggledy, cobblestone step ways climb steeply and the passion for flowers is all around. You'll find he occasional shop in the middle of this residential district as well.

Fjord tours from Bergen, Norway
Bergen is the Gateway to the Fjords of Norway!
The best starting point to experience the most magnificent fjord landscape, with narrow fjords, glaciers, steep mountain sides, beautiful islands and spectacular waterfalls.
The fjords are by far the biggest attraction in Scandinavia, and Bergen is by far the best starting point for exploring the nature visitors come from all over the world to see. Bergen is situated halfway between the two biggest fjords in Western Norway – the Sognefjord and the Hardangerfjord and it also has a fantastic coastline with thousands of large and small islands.
From Bergen you can get to even the innermost reaches of the fjords and back again in one day. The fjord cruises are varying in length, and there are many organised fjord tours that guarantees a memorable experience.

Bergen, Norway: Salty Harbor Town
More info about travel to Bergen: Bergen is a big city by Norwegian standards, but visitors sticking to the compact old center find it charming. Enjoy the busy harbor with its salty market and timber warehouses dripping with Hanseatic history, then stroll the pedestrian-friendly old quarter, with cute lanes of delicate wooden houses. Then for a modern contrast, head for Bergen's urban heart — which has a thriving personality all its own.

Bergen, Norway Top 5 attractions - Norway trip report-2
Our trip continues from Oslo to Bergen. A beautiful city, Bergen has so much to offer for tourists. Here I have complied the top 6 Bergen's attractions from our 2 days at Bergen. So many things to see in and around Bergen - warmest Norwegian country. Bergen is called as “gateway to the fjords”, so don’t miss visiting the fjords.
It was such a great experience to visit Norway for 10 days in July snow, wildlife,(which is considered as summer in that part of the world, which could be quite cold for other parts of the world) and explore the best of each of Norway, an amazing but a very expensive country. We went to Oslo, Bergen and from Bergen we did a 5 day road trip into total wilderness of Norway including fjords, mountains, lakes etc. Each destination was very unique and for photographers and nature lovers, this is the place to be in Summer. Thank you for the memories, Norway! I'll be back someday to explore you more.

Oslo to Bergen, Norway by Train through the mountains and Boat through the fjords
We’re going to take you on one of the most spectacular train rides in all of Europe: starting in Oslo, we’re heading cross-country through fascinating mountain terrain, passing lakes and rivers and waterfalls, and then by boat through a vast fjord, finally we will be arriving later in the day at the ancient capital of Norway the town of Bergen. This special trip is called Norway in a Nutshell. Showing you a big cross-section of the country in just one day.
Please subscribe:
The scenery keeps getting more spectacular as we climb through the central regions of Norway, getting a little bit like Switzerland with tall mountains in the distance and glaciers, with lakes where the water is clear blue color.
We change trains mid-way at Myrdal and board the Flam railway which is one of the most scenic rides in Europe. It travels about four miles from the mountain tops down through seven lush valleys to the waters below in the Sognefjord, Norway’s largest fjord. There we catch a boat to Bergen through the Sognefjord. There's lots of great scenery during the boat ride, with the mountains towering high above on both sides of this chasm.

Things to do in Bergen Norway: a Winter fjord cruise (subtitled)
One of the best things to do whilst in Bergen (in Winter) is go on a 'Norway in a Nutshell ®' cruise and the famous Flåmsbana Railway. The tour reveals stunning scenery that leaves one in no doubt as to why Norwegian Blue parrots - made famous by Monty Python - pine for the fjords. This short (tongue-in-cheek) film begins the journey at Bergen, travelling to Voss, past the Tvinnefossen waterfall, to Gudvangen and the beautiful Nærøyfjord, to Flåm and through the valley up towards Myrdal before heading back to Bergen - all in one day.
Apologies for any mispronunciations.

AWESOME NORWAY ROAD TRIP ROUTE TO FJORDS FROM BERGEN
An awesome Norway road trip route to fjords from Bergen to the fjords and making our way to Bygstad where we based ourselves at Villa Amot, the perfect spot to go on day missions to the fjords and other sights in the area. This was a great Norway roadtrip route and in the beginning of the video we show you the route. Whether you're taking the Norway road trip to fjords 2016, 2017 or 2018 it doesn't really matter as I don't think that much will change! Lots take awesome Norway road trips from Oslo but if you want to see the fjords it makes much more sense to start your Norway road trip to fjords from Bergen!
This Norway series was filmed with help of my friend Greg who is linked below and in conjunction my friends at NordicTB on the #FjordSecrets trip.
