Yushien Garden - Shimane - 由志園
Located closest to Matsue City on an island in the middle of Lake Nakaumi, Yushien Garden or commonly known as Yūshien or Yuushien in Japanese is a 40,000 square meter garden established in 1975. It’s famous for its gorgeous landscape including waterfalls, streams, stone lanterns, rock-garden, a beautiful pond and also for its gorgeous peony flowers. Indeed, the garden counts a staggering 250 types of bulbous-bloomed peony flowers beloved all across Japan.
Due to its location and being quite far from Matsue City, Yushien Garden is relatively free of tourists and the perfect place during the week on enjoying some calm and tranquility!

Matsue Castle - Shimane - 松江城
Completed in 1611 Matsue Castle, a “Black Castle” due to its dark and austere exterior is and surrounded by a gorgeous moat and thick wall. It is one of only a dozen original castles left in Japan. That means that unlike many others like Naoya Castle and Osaka Castle, Matsue Castle and it’s main tower have survived to this day through many wars and natural disasters. In 1638 the castle and its fief were assigned to a branch of the Matsudaira clan who were relatives of the powerful ruling clan at the time, the Tokugawa.

Japan's Most Terrifying Bridge: Eshima Ohashi ★ ONLY in JAPAN #33
It's been nicknamed the ROLLER COASTER BRIDGE because of it's super steep slope and appearance of being a bridge to the sky.
That's the Eshima Ohashi Bridge straddling Shimane and Tottori prefecture in Japan.
Facts about the Eshima Ohashi:
★ 1,446 meters long
★ 250 meters of continupus concrete in the center (the third longest Ramen bridge in the world!)
★ 6.1% grade slope on the Shimane Prefecture side
★ 5.1% grade on the Tottori side
★ The bridge needed to be high in the center to allow large shops to pass under.
☆ From the Shimane side, you can get the optical illusion view at the end of the street by the sea.
☆ If you have a good telephoto lens, go even further to the other side of the sea for a better shot. (Map below)
The bridge has a good pedestrian footpath on both sides of the road.
Bicycles are not allowed on the footpath so stay on the main road with the car, to the left side.
There is an observation point on the top that offers sweeping views all the way to Daisen (mountain).
The closest major access point is Yonago Station and airport on the Sea of Japan. From there, take a train to Sakaiminato and rent a bicycle or grab a taxi.
Sakaiminato is also famous for Japanese anime and the main street is like a museum of monsters!
The bridge is a 20 minute ride from Sakai Minato.
Take food with you from the station.

Japanese Traditional Court Dance and Music Iwami Kagura Orochi in Shibuya 石見神楽 大蛇
I went see Iwami Kagura Orochi that held on 4 June in Shibuya.
(My Blog about Japan)
This Iwami Kagura Orochi is performed based on Japanese myths.
Kagura is an ancient Japanese court dance and music.
This story of Susanoo no Mikoto battles with Orochi or giant serpent for saving Kushinada Hime (Princess Kushinada) is especially famous among Japanese myths.
He makes Orochi drink poisoned Sake before battling.
When Orochi got drunk he attacks and defeats it.
He marries Princess Kushinada after the battle.
He also gets Ama no Murakumo no Tsurugi (Ama no Murakumo Sword) from its tail when he defeated Orochi .
It is now enshrined at Atsuta Shrine as one of the Three Sacred Treasures.

Samurai are Real | Matsue castle part2
Tameshigiri is the Japanese art of target test cutting. The kanji literally mean test cut (kun'yomi: ためし ぎり tameshi giri). This practice was popularized in the Edo period (17th century) for testing the quality of Japanese swords. It continues to the present day, but has evolved into a martial art which focuses on demonstrating the practitioner's skill with a sword.-wikipedia

Beautiful Japanese Garden Series -
Yuushien / 由志園 - Autumn leaves - 島根県松江市
In the eastern part of
Shimane Prefecture Matsue City
lies the beautiful Japanese garden of Yuushien,
located on Daikonshima Island,
in the middle of Lake Nakaumi.
A flat, volcanic island,
Daikonshima is famous for
its production of Japanese peonies
and ginseng.
So, Yuushien Garden is
one of the most splendid Japanese gardens
with seasonal flowers, trees, ponds, waterfalls,
and paving stones creatively organized
over 40,000 beautiful square-meters.
Visitors are free to walk around and enjoy
the gardens at their leisure.
Yuushien started making their gardens
by gathering garden soil,
stones, and trees from outside the island.
Since the island was not connected
with the main land by bridges in those days,
they had to transport everything by boat.
Little by little the garden has been
improved over 40 years,
and now has become one of
the splendid Japanese gardens.

Tatamigaura Seaside
????????Experience a world from 16 million years ago????????
On the Hamada coastline located in the western part of Shimane, there is a beach called “Tatamigaura Seaside”. In Japanese, it is also known as “Senjojiki” (thousand tatami mats) because as its name suggests it has the same area of 1000 tatami mats laid out and this now beach was actually once part of the seafloor from 16 million years ago. But how did the seafloor became a beach? Well, the answer is an earthquake. An earthquake occurred in 1872, with a magnitude of 7.1, which caused the seafloor to rise to sea level and reveal all its wonders and fossils from 16 million years ago. And now, during low tide, you can walk along this ancient seafloor and find more than 40 different types of fossils hidden beneath your feet. Locals say that if you find the “happy shells” that are spread out along the seaside, you will find happiness. ❤????
