White & Progress Rail livery LDPs on MP9: Adelaide Hills Rail Movements
On Saturday the 16th of June 2018 I spent a fair while trackside for SCT, Pacific National & GWA Trains. Across the day I managed to capture LDP005 which returned to SA for the first time in a fair while, PN Freight 7MP7 with an all elephant style lash up, 2182s with Streamliner CLP17 & 7AM5 with four locos.

Overloaded Hopper
C507, C505 and C503 depart Clarence Colliery a little before midday on 5/7/09 with a Pacific National coal train. Trailing the train is a hopper that had been overloaded and was out of gauge. It was later detached and stowed in the yard at Katoomba.
It would've been interesting to see how close it got to the overhead going under the overbridges between Bell and Katoomba!

AUSTRALIA SILO ART TRAIL
Recently I went for a road trip to the middle of Victoria to check out the epic Silo Art Trail. We started the trip by visiting Australia's largest Grain Store at Murtoa and capped it off with an even more amazing place called, Lake Tyrell - a salt lake!
What is Silo Trail?
The Silo Art Trail is Australia’s largest outdoor gallery. The trail stretches over 200 kilometres, linking Brim with neighbouring towns Lascelles, Patchewollock, Rosebery, Rupanyup and Sheep Hills.
Providing an insight into the true spirit of the Wimmera Mallee, the trail recognises and celebrates the region’s people through a series of large-scale mural portraits painted onto grain silos, many of which date back to the 1930s.
The project saw a team of renowned artists from Australia and across the world visit the region, meet the locals and transform each grain silo into an epic work of art; each one telling a unique story about the host town.
The Silo Art Trail was conceived in 2016 after the success of the first silo artwork in Brim. What started as a small community project by the Brim Active Community Group, GrainCorp, Juddy Roller and artist, Guido van Helten resulted in widespread international media attention and an influx of visitors to the region and the idea for a trail was born.

Murtoa Grain Store:
Built in 1941, is the largest rustically-built structure in the world. It is currently under protection from Heritage Victoria (since 1992), and is noted in the Australian heritage listings for many, and varied, excellent reasons. Principally, its construction method is unique to Australia, and it also represents a huge leap forward in the handling of harvested crops, with the monumental change from bags to bulk handling.

Trackside at Hoppers Crossing - Metro Trains Melbourne
In this video we see some trackside footage of Metro Trains' at Hoppers Crossing on the Werribee line. Here we see all three types of rollingstock in Metro's fleet; Comeng, Siemens and X'trapolis EMU's, the latter being a recent addition to the Werribee line. The speed limit on this section of the line is 115km/h, so we see trains pass through at speed.
This section of the Werribee line also features the standard gauge freight line to Adelaide. Unfortunently we only see only one Pacific National freight train hauled by some NR's, as well as a ARTC high-rail.
The video was filmed from the relative safety of the Federation Trail bike path which offers great unobstructed views of this section of the line. Remember to never trespass illegally onto the rail corridor to photograph/film trains :)
Date: 8th December 2016 & 3rd January 2017.
Part of this video was filmed with MP Productions:

The Glenelg Barge
The Glenelg Barge is a hopper barge used by the South Australian (Glenelg Dredge) to take the silt dredged up from the Port River and dump it further out to sea. She was sunk in 1984 as an artificial reef and lies in 20m of water. Access is by boat from the West Beach boat ramp. A star dropper trail has been set up to enable divers to travel from the barge to the South Australian and vice versa in times of low current. The barge is a very interesting wreck with a wide variety of fish. Divers can swim its 30m length with ease. At either end there is a small opening where divers can penetrate into the work rooms. In these rooms on each side of the hoppers is the entrance to the flotation chambers and divers may peer into them. Divers may be tempted to attempt a penetration and it can be done as long as the divers are properly prepared with lines, torches etc. The entrance to each chamber is very restricted. This penetration is not recommended. The main hazards are rusting metal, silting and restricted entrances to the penetrations.

TerrainHopper triumphs in Medilink East Midlands Business Awards. Lincolnshire company TerrainHopper has walked away with the award for Innovation in this year's Medilink East Midlands Business Competition. The company collected the prize at the Innovation Day awards dinner held last night at the Radisson Blu Hotel, East Midlands Airport.
Manby-based TerrainHopper was launched by Sam and Deborah Dantzie in 2010 to produce pre-production prototypes of an off road mobility product. Since then the enterprising couple has self-financed the opening of a manufacturing facility, patented and launched the TerrainHopper and are into the second production run. The worldwide market for mobility vehicles is expected to be worth in excess of £2.4 billion by 2015, with UK sales driven by Government legislation to increase access for the disabled.
Sam Dantzie said: Our products are generating worldwide interest and this prestigious award recognises the innovative nature of our product. We manufacture in Lincolnshire and are currently expanding into new premises and creating new skilled jobs. Medilink East Midlands and iNet have been very supportive, showing confidence and interest in our amazing off road mobility product and we look forward to continuing with this valued relationship.
The Innovation Award is sponsored by Potter Clarkson. Partner Helen Johnstone said: Potter Clarkson is proud to have presented the Innovation Award to TerrainHopper whose off road vehicle has enabled many people with mobility difficulties to have fun by participating in a wide range of outdoor activities across difficult terrain. As an East Midlands-based company we are very pleased to see companies from this region developing and commercialising such cutting edge products and obtaining intellectual property rights to protect their valuable innovations.
Speaking after the awards were announced, Dr Darren Clark, Chief Executive of Medilink East Midlands commented: TerrainHopper is an excellent example of innovative design meeting a real need. The fact that the company is also manufacturing the vehicles in the region makes this a worthy award winner. We congratulate them on their early success and look forward to helping them as they expand.
TerrainHopper is automatically entered into the Medilink UK national awards which will take place in early 2014.
The Awards ceremony took place on the evening following the Medilink East Midlands Innovation Conference, which was supported by the Healthcare and Bioscience iNet project (part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). . This year's conference theme, 'Revolutionising Healthcare --What part will you play?' attracted over 200 of the region's leading businesses and academics in the sector
